Great Sound From These Speakers.......2007-09-18
I am very impressed with these speakers. I am setting up a 7.1 surround sound system and bought these for my rear speakers but I tried them temporarily to replace my main front speakers and they could very well do that. Very good sound at a great price.
Best freakin bookshelf speakers for the money.......2007-08-31
For my 7.1 surround sound these were large enough for sound bass and yet small enough to hang from speaker brackets I bought at Walmart. I had listened to the smaller versions of these but were 2-ways with little bass. These 3-ways are the way to go along with a center speaker for voice and a sub-woofer for bass. Best Buy could get these at $110 a pair but when I ordered them, they never called me while the same day I ordered these from Amazon and they showed up a day earlier than Best Buys would have...plus Amazon shipping was free and no tax. WTF more could you ask for. Don't hesitate...go ahead and order them. Very versatile speakers.
Great set at a confortable price........2007-08-05
I am very happy with this set. I bought it for our surround sound in our bedroom in order to replace the old huge Sanyo speakers, they were great too; The SSB-3000 are used as the front speakers (I bought the SSB-1000 for the rear speakers and they are also great for this purpose and set up). Even at high volume, which I usually don't use, it performs without distortion. DVD movies, and music, sound great in our room. The receiver I use, Sony, is 150wts of power.
Great value, nice new model.......2007-06-07
This model replaces the Sony SS-MB350H, which I also bought a few months ago. They're virtually identical, except the Sony SS-MB350H had "kevlar reinforced" woofers instead of mica, and the SSB-3000 has a bass port on the back, which the SS-MB350H did not.
Some people complained about the lack of bass in the previous model, so I guess this is Sony's response. I got a 12" sub to go with the SS-MB350H's, so now I have plenty of bass.
They're good looking, they sound great, unbeatable value, two thumbs up from me.
Outstanding.......2007-05-25
I bought these to replace a pair of Infinity 2-ways. The old speakers were 6 ohm, and seemed fine driven by an old JVC stereo receiver. Later, a co-worker sold me his old pro-logic reciever. I picked up a set of 8 ohm Sony center, subwoofer, and surrounds. We listen to music a lot, and using the crossover in the sub, keeping keep the receiver on stereo, I thought the music sounded pretty good. However, with the old fronts being 6 ohm made it really hard to balance the sound levels when we watched a movie in surround. Just today, I got these as part of an overall system upgrade to full 7.1. These speakers arrived first, and I couldn't wait to see them on my stands. What an amazing difference. We haven't changed anything else in the set-up yet, and the music is SO much richer and clearer. I paid more for those little Infinity's way back when. These are a real bargain at Amazon's price. Don't let the "bookshelf" description fool you; on a pair of 14" stands, these sound as good as many floorstanders I've heard.

Verey nice sound for small speaker.......2007-08-09
I was replacing my old school Technics cabnit speakers with these. I heard them in the store and found them very impressive. Once I connected them to my Sony reciever I was amazed. These speakers are WELL worth the money and can be mounted right on the wall. Reggae and Metal sound really good, with very good surprising bass response. I am very happy and would recommend these speakers to anyone.
Great for acoustic music and vocals.......2007-06-24
These speakers are small enough to fit easily in a bookcase yet put out enough undistorted volume to nearly fill my house. They didn't do too well with bass-heavy music (I tried the Fugees) but they were extremely good with vocals from Bobby McFerrin--warm, sharp, responsive. I couldn't stop smiling while I was listening to McFerrin on these. Combine these with a subwoofer and you'll have a system good enough for listening to just about anything. I've combined them with a 5.1 speaker system from Polk, so I've got the home theater and pure music experiences both covered.
The styling is very nice: the grill is a curved shape that projects out from the housing, and the black finished wood veneer is quite pretty.
A Short Review.......2007-05-29
Polk Audio has once again produced a "near perfect" speaker. This is the first bookshelf speaker I have purchased in about fifteen years, so I am not the authority I once was on "the latest and greatest" in all things audio, but I will tell you for the money this is one outstanding deal. The sound quality is exceptional!
Great speakers for the price.......2007-02-16
I've been listening to these speakers for over a week and am highly pleased. My previous system was a sony stereo system 120 watts per channel. Not only do these speakers have better quality, but they are louder.
I don't normally write reviews for products that I purchase online, but I figured since I was so pleased I should share my experience. Definitely use good wires to hook these babies up or you wont exploit their full potential. The RTi's have good bass but I feel like I need to add a sub to feel lower frequencies. When I turn the bass up it's too straining on the speakers, hence a sub.
Can't wait to add a sub to this banging setup! No regrets!
High quality, great sound and great price..........2006-12-04

Customer Reviews:
Great speaker for the price!.......2007-04-23
I purchased a set of Polk RTi4 to use with a Sonos ZP100 in my family room. I was looking for a speaker that would not be too large but still provide clean, accurate sound. So far I have been very impressed with the speakers, especially considering the sub-$300 price!
The RTi4 has handled everything I have thrown at them, rock, R&B, country, classical, etc. They only fall short on the very deepest notes. If you are a big rap fan (not me) or are using them in a home theater setting then I strongly recommend adding a subwoofer. However, if you aren't that concerned about really "feeling the bass" then you will probably be very satisfied with these speakers.
Nice speakers, nice price!.......2006-02-04
I put these together with a Harman Kardon HK 3480 receiver and got crisp sound quality with surprisingly punchy bass. I am going to add a Yamaha 8" subwoofer to give me a little extra oomph for rap music and movie sound effects, but that is more of an indulgence than a necessity. The wall mount brackets on the back made wall installation super easy as well. I am very pleased with these speakers, very good sound for the price.
Great sound in a small package.......2005-12-07
We just bought these speakers to replace a pair of ancient B&O S45s which had finally bought the farm. We went to Sound Advice and listened to 4 different speakers and found that the RTi4s had both the clearest sound and the best midrange differentiation of all 4 speakers in our price range. A bit weak on the bass side, but for $220 including tax, well worth the price
Clear and Crisp.......2005-12-03
My previous speakers were Cerwin Vega (some special series 12") and then two Sony tower speakers (two 6" speakers and one 1" tweeter in each speaker). The Cerwin Vegas' were bought in H.S. which was primarily aimed at pleasing rap -lived in the Suburbs/identity crisis- with heavy bass. In college I had to sell both the Vegas for tuition and bought the Sony's from a friend. The tower speakers brought a greater balance between lower and higher frequencies. In general, I found that as time went on, so did my maturity in finding better music and better speakers. With my last quarter in progress I have bought myself these Polks' for my graduation present. To say the least, they sound perfect.
The balance between both high and low frequencies matches many larger speakers (such as my old Sony's'). Like another reviewer said, you may need a subwoofer to fulfill some deeper bass interest. I have a 12" Onyko to fulfill such lack (surprisingly not much lack though for the size of these Polks) which is more than enough in a studio apartment.
If you decide to buy from Amazon, I suggest you do. My Polks' came direct from OneCall. Within two days I received them first class without any extra shipping fees! All in all, a great buy from three great businesses.

Polk Audio RTi6 High Performance Speakers.......2007-03-20
These are some of the "Richest"sounding speakers you will hear.Very full and smooth.Never mind the modest price, they compare extremely well with speakers costing twice the price. When set up correctly(Bi-amping,which is easy to do)they become almost transparent and present a 3-dimensional sound stage.Fit and finish(real Cherry Veneer)are a plus, something that is lacking on even higher priced speakers.Even my wife likes these.Believe me You won't be disapointed.
Polk RTi6 or JBL L830???.......2006-09-23
Well for your money I would get the polk. Today I went to a high end audio shop and tested the above mentioned. I got to tell you for a two way they had great mid range real nice and life like. The high end was vary natural sounding and the bass was there but not everywhere and vary responsive and crisp (just the way I like I). Low treble, high treble, low bass, high bass they still sounded good (thou with all treble taking out they got a bit muddy, witch would be good for TV actually). High and low volumes still give the same sound, I did notice a lot of the bass left around listening volume, but a little bump on the bass brought it right back up. The JBL sounded exactly the same, only that the vocals and higher mids where more pronounced and "I-sword-I-was-there-ness". They didn't get mudy with all the treble taking out and incredibly crisp with the treble up (they sounded better in other words). The polk would make decent front speakers for a good sized TV but I think they would be a bit much for anything under 27 inch or so...
Considering the L830's are twice as much I'd get the Polk if you have listened to the JBLL830 but not the Polk, about all you would lose would be a stronger mid range and life like ness. Also the store was running them 10% and about this price so this is about as low a price that you will find for new ones.
P.S. That IS real cherry veneer.

excellent for my purpose !.......2007-06-27
I am the happy owner of two prototype Monitor 7 Polk Audio speakers.
I purchased 4 RTi6 speakers used as follows:
Using the two monitor 7 speakers for left and right channels, 1 RTi6 for
a center channel (These speakers sit on top of a large cabinet located
in the corner of a log house close to the ceiling), 2 more of the RTi6 speakers are used for surround left and right and the remainig RTi6 is
used for the rear channel. The surround left, right, and rear RTi6 speakers are mounted on log walls at almost ceiling hight. A powered subwoofer is located behind the corner cabinet. All is driven by an Onkyo TX-SR575. The RTi6 speakers were chosen because they are wall mountable
and narrow enough to mount between a rock hearth and a window frame.
Sounds great for home theater surround and casual music listening.

Very solid speakers.......2007-08-02
I shopped for and tried about 6 different pairs of bookshelf/front speakers from Polk (Monitor 30s, 50s), Bose (301s), and Klipsch before finally settling on these. To me, they strike the right balance between size, sound quality and asthetics. I have them paired with a Polk PSW12 subwoofer in the corner of the room. With the sub, full sound completely fills the room for home theater, and more importantly to me, for two channel music.
I tired the floorstanding Monitor 50s (over $100 more/pair), but find that these sound better. I have them placed on top of a 35" peice of furiture. I think the higher placement improves the sound field. I also bi-wired these to my receiever which makes a difference to my ear. Overall, they are an excellent value and highly recommended.
Excellent Pair of Speakers.......2006-11-29
This is an excellent pair of speakers. I am very pleased with their quality having used them for about two months. I have them hooked up to a Kenwood KR-9600 and they work wonderfully. Excellent highs and lows along with excellent mids. With the KR-9600 I can get these speakers to have a wider frequency range than stated. The speakers work well by themselves and I would not bother to get a sub. I have my computer hooked up to the KR-9600 and I play my cds this way. I can raise the bass even more by doing this. The only downside is the price; however, they are well worth the price. The grills are alright but I took mine off because they look cooler. All in all this is a very good pair of speakers and with the proper equipment one can get them to excede their standard specifications.

Amazon.com Product Description
The Klipsch Synergy Series SB-2 speakers prove that great sound can come in small, affordable packages. This pair of SB-2 speakers incorporates the same driver technology as the SF-1 floorstanding speaker--a 1-inch aluminum-diaphragm compression driver with a 5-inch square Tractrix Horn and a single 6.5-inch graphite-injected woofer. And it offers the same features as its larger Synergy Series counterparts, including a high-definition crossover network and an internally braced enclosure. Its cast-polymer woofer frame has exceptional impact tolerance to protect the driver's internal parts and maintain their critical alignment. A rear-mounted port increases efficiency and extends bass response, allowing high output with low distortion and low turbulence. Klipsch's unique woofer venting system keeps both the magnet and voice coil cool to ensure long-term reliability.
It features a "floating" grille design that gives the speakers a handsome, contemporary style with minimal sonic interference. Flush mounted components and narrow front profiles are combined with time-aligned drivers and simple, minimum phase filter networks to provide truly extraordinary soundstaging. The enclosure is constructed of high-quality MDF and it's finished in a jet ash vinyl veneer.

Big Sound - Little Price.......2007-04-17
I decided that it was time to replace some old Optimus 77 speakers used for a satelite location in my bedroom. I was very impressed after listening to the speakers at the local big box store and comparing them with 5 or 6 brands of bookshelf speakers with prices up to $800 per pair. My ears could not tell the difference between the B-2 and the more expensive and larger B-3. After I took them home and hooked them up I was very pleased with what I heard! The sound was full and rich without the high pitched twang that came from the old speakers. I actually laid in bed for about 30 minues just listening to an XM station. These are perfect for that spare room! My bedroom is 15 X 20 with a 12 foot ceiling and I set the speakers on a dresser. The produced a complete room full of sound! I kept the told speakers, but now I am not sure that they even qualify for the garage.
You get what you pay for........2007-03-31
I replaced a pair of Sony bookshelf speakers which were descent sounding. These Klipsch are at a whole different level of quality, you really get what you pay for! It has a fuller, warmer sound and amazing clarity. The sound never gets harsh and the vocals are very distinct as well as other instruments. My old Sony's sound somewhat muddy and less defined in comparison. Also, the Klipsch's play loud without distortion at high levels, a nice smooth transition throughout the volume range. Overall I would give my old Sony's a 6 and the Klipsch's a 9 on a scale of 1-10. I am very satisfied with my Klipsch, in fact I love them!
Great Speakers!.......2005-09-12
Klipsch is the best manufacturer of speakers ever... period. Anyway, these speakers are absolutely amazing. They produce perfect, clean sound through all volumes and most frequencies. They work very well with a entire system, but would also work well just by themselves. They produce quite a bit of bass for their size, but also can produce very high, clear frequencies. These are the best speakers for the money... hands down!
Little Klipsch Big Sound.......2005-07-28
I've owned Klipsches in the past and have been quite happy with them except that the older Heritage series: the big Forte's and the small Heresy 'end table' like floors did not like the big bright amps that I was using the idea being that when these were developed most of the decent equipment out there was low-power tubes. A friend of mine also had the same brightness problem with his Forte's and got rid of his which is what I reluctantly did too and it was another 10 years before I ventured rather successfully back into the realm of horn speakers with this model. I do miss my Forte's though.
The SB-2's have horn-coupled aluminum mid-tweeters and graphite-injected 6.5 in woofers and like their hyper-efficient ancestors run on little power (100W. should be enough for average-sized rooms) and seem well mated to average receivers sold by mass-market retailers one of which belongs to me. The receiver not the retailer only don't I wish!
These solid, well built speakers are only 15 inches high but I was surprised at all the sound that came out of these boxes in my smallish living room. Not everyone has room for columns, and though I like them they really don't go over well with people of the female persuasion. The next level up in Klipsch is the Reference Series and I can't even imagine how good they sound. The SB-2's really do justice to all kinds of music (and movies), not just the loud stuff. Everything is distinct and clear, yet warm and easy to listen to and they image so well that with your eyes closed you swear that these are floor-standers and there is a center channel speaker sitting uptop the TV. With music, individual instruments are well-defined yet not edgy and vocals are very clear as well. They do sound a bit different than conventional speakers so one may want to give the Synergy Series an audition at the local BestBuy, but I don't think much out there will provide the live performance impact that these can. The SB-2's are discontinued and have been replaced by the B-3's which are supposed to have extended high-frequency capability. So give the Klipsches a listen if you can, then go search the SB-2's out on the web and get a really good deal. You'll probably like them if your tastes are like mine. Enjoy!

Customer Reviews:
Good for small rooms or rear surround.......2007-07-29
I made the mistake of thinking that these speakers could be used as front channel speakers with a sub (Polk PSW 12) so as to look nice on either side of my new flat screen TV. While they looked great, the sound was truly lacking. If all you want is home theater sound and you don't do very much listening to 2 channel music, then these are fine. For music playback, I found them to sound "boxy" and lack mid-bass even with a sub.
Polk makes a great speaker and for a small room or rear surround these are probably perfect, I just couldn't make them work for my application. I have a pair of Monitor 40s now and they are just right.
Not too bad for the price..........2007-06-17
I got a used pair of these off eBay for about a hundred twenty shipped, was using them for surrounds and recently moved them to computer duty powered by a Trends Audio T-Amp (absolute steal) and have been reasonably ok with them.
Tips: I found that they actually sound better when placed upside down, so that the tweeter is on top. Try it both ways, I'm sure that individual room accoustics, placement, and tastes will all come into play.
Due to space constraints I have them very close to a back wall, which made them sound a bit boomy until I decided to stuff a sock into each of the speakers' rear ports. Since I listen mainly at moderate (60-75db) volumes this doesn't really do any harm to the speaker itself.
Detail and imaging are competent but nothing to write home about, the tweeter is not quite as precise as I would like. In retrospect I think I would have been better off going with Athena AS-B1.2s (about a hundred twenty five shipped from audioadvisor dot com), or especially the Ascend CBM-170SEs (ascendacoustics dot com) which is light years beyond but does cost about three hundred fifty. With a beefier amp though I think the Onix XL-S bookshelf speakers from av123 dot com would do very well at about two hundred fifty shipped.
Sound Great.......2007-04-26
I have this pair hooked up to a Onkyo receiver and use them mainly for sound when watching sports and movies in HD on my flatscreen. Crystal clear and surprisingly good bass considering I don't have a sub hooked up.
If you're an amateur like myself, go get em - you'll like em.
A great deal.......2007-04-03
I hooked these speakers up to a 20+ year old NAD amplifier that delivers 20W per channel. This is at the bottom of the recommended power range, but the sound is excellent and is everything that I could have hoped for. They take up very little room and look good too. I am very satisfied and would buy them again.
Amazing Product, Amazing delivery.......2007-03-08
This is one of the best products I have spent my money on. This speakers 'speak' well and you will be amazed at how well they sound for that kind of size.
Also, the buying experience from Amazon was excellent. I got mine deleivered in about 2 days.
Will recommend product for anyone else.
