Amazon.com Product Description

Enjoy movies and music to the max with Toshiba's SD-2815 five-disc DVD player. ColorStream component-video outputs (for use with compatible TVs) virtually eliminate NTSC artifacts like video noise and dot crawl, while built-in MP3 and WMA (Windows Media Audio) decoding gives the freedom to compile music on a PC and listen to it on your stereo or TV.

Component-video splits the video signal into three separate components, which reduces the amount of signal processing required of a television. Conventional composite- and S-video outputs bring compatibility with nearly any television. The "expanded" mode in the player's black-level setting produces richer, deeper black tones in every image. Using parallel video output you can connect each of the player's outputs to a different TV and watch simultaneous images from each connected set, making it ideal for multi-room use.

The player offers full menu navigation via the front-panel controls so you can operate the player even when the remote has been misplaced or is unavailable. The SD-2815 also lets you place up to nine digital "bookmarks" to save favorite locations or scenes on the currently loaded discs. The bookmarks provide quick access to scenes you want to watch again or show to friends.

In the audio realm, two sets of left/right analog-audio outputs channel audio to Dolby Pro Logic receivers and stereo televisions. Both Dolby Digital and DTS 5.1-channel surround-sound signals can be routed through the player's coaxial digital-audio output for direct connection to a full-featured audio/video receiver. The player's internal digital-to-analog converters work at 24-bit, 96 kHz resolution to ensure high quality reproduction from a range of program material. Playback options include picture zoom, dialogue enhancement, 3-D Virtual Surround Sound (simulated surround for two-channel listening), and parental lock.

1 out of 5 stars Don't buy this product!!.......2003-09-02

This player stopped working after 4 months (one month over warranty). The changer threw all the CD's out and jammed the unit. The door wouldn't open. It was a total disaster.

4 out of 5 stars Pleased with my new purchase!.......2003-08-12

I recently purchased the Toshiba, and find it to be easy to use, the cd options are great. I love being able to play 2 songs from each disc until the discs are completed. What a fun option. I have had a toshiba phone for years, and hope the DVD player will work the same.

5 out of 5 stars Awesome sound!.......2003-08-11

Unlike some of the other reviewers, mine worked flawlessly out of the box. It has some great audio options, and after I hooked up the optical cable for audio, I saw lights turn on on my amplifier that I didn't know existed. The zoom feature is nice for viewing things in the background for concerts, etc. I would recommend it strongly, however, make sure you measure your TV cabinet, as it it bigger than a single disc style, and it sticks out past my entertainment center shelf, which sort of bugs me. Overall, it is a nice product.

1 out of 5 stars Poor Toshiba Customer Service.......2003-07-29

It was a shame that I had to return this player, I really liked it, but it had a glitch playing DVDs with seamless branching. The playback stuttered with 2 different copies of Terminator 2: UE and The Abyss: SE.

I first discovered the problem when trying to watch T2. When I called Toshiba customer service, they first insisted it was the disc, even though I told them it played fine in my other 5 year old *Toshiba* player, and my XBox. They asked if I could try a different copy of T2:UE, so I tried my father-in-law's copy of T2:UE, and it too stuttered. Then I realized these movies use seamless branching, so I tried the Abyss, and it also stuttered on playback, even froze at some points.

After reporting all this to Toshiba when I called them back, all they did was take my info and said they'd get back to me. 2 weeks later, and I still haven't heard from them. Since they didn't make me feel comfortable about getting the problem fixed under warranty, I'm glad I went ahead and just returned the player right before my 30 day return period ended.

1 out of 5 stars Broken out of the box.......2003-07-10

Unpacked this player, hooked it up, loaded a DVD, and immediately received a "Disc Error" message on the display. No matter what kind of disk I loaded, CD-R, music CD, DVD, got the same message. Also, the carousel would spin endlessly once I ejected the disks. Talked to Toshiba customer service, and they were of no help, just suggested I bring it in to an authorized service center. I've found that to be their standard answer for everything, unfortunately.

This is my second bad experience with a Toshiba DVD player. A single disk player I bought stopped working at 13 months (1 month out of warranty) which is why I bought this one. I was going to chalk it up to an isolated case, but with the performance of this new one, I'm thinking it is not that isolated. Will be buying another brand now.

Amazon.com Product Description

The versatile Sony DVP-NC685V 5-disc carrousel changer plays audio CDs, DVD, and SACDs, and it's compatible with CD-R, CD-RW, DVD+R/RW, and DVD-R/RW discs. The carrousel enables you to play one disc while changing the remaining four. It's compatible with Dolby Digital and DTS decoding, and features a multibrand remote control, custom parental control feature, and MP3 audio compatibility.

Other DVD players detect image changes at the scan line level; Sony's Precision Cinema Progressive (PCP) system detects them at the pixel level. The picture is more faithful to the source--whether film or video--because separate, optimized algorithms are used to handle the differing pixel behavior. Separate algorithms are also used to process the moving and still parts of an image, resulting in sharp backgrounds with moving objects that are free from motion artifacts.

In addition to standard 2-channel CD playback, the DVP-CX985V plays 2-channel and multichannel Super Audio CDs. Playing MP3 audio is also easy. As soon as you load an MP3-encoded disc and press the Menu button, you'll see a display of the files and folders found on the disc.

Other features include:

Tech Talk
Super Audio CD (SACD): SACD is a high-resolution digital audio format that promises vast sonic improvements over the current audio CD format. SACDs can be played back on dedicated SACD players or combination SACD/DVD-Video players. Certain SACDs feature a conventional audio CD layer (hybrid SACDs), which can be played back by any CD player or computer with a CD-ROM drive.

Progressive scan: Also called sequential scanning, a progressive-scan system displays the entire image--providing all the horizontal lines per frame, rather than every other line--once every 60th of a second. This method reduces flicker and increases stability. Progressive-scan viewing requires a compatible digital TV.

Component video: Unlike a single video input, component video maintains the video signal as three separate signals through these three jacks. This connection provides optimum quality. To ensure maximum picture quality, use three video-grade cables for the Y, Pb, and Pr connections.

What's in the Box
Sony DVP-NC685V DVD/SACD player/changer, remote control (RMT-D159A), 2 AA batteries, RCA audio/video cable, and operating instructions.

5 out of 5 stars Top of the Line 5 Disk Changer!.......2004-10-28

Earlier I had Philips 5 DVD changer and it really disappointed me with not playing most of the disks, I'm really exicted to see the results and the response time on this player. Sony has once again marked its presence by giving a great DVD player. If you are looking for a player with 5 disk capacity then u don't have to think of any other player other than this one! It plays all formats including DVD+R, CD-R, CD-RW, MP3. It produces excellent sound, superb picture. If you have a AV reciever and you want to get the best out of the player then u must connect it with Optical Cable and if u happen to have a progressive scan TV then Component Video Cable is strongly recommended for the ultimate picture quality. With all the features and ease of use, its a overall winner!

The only negetive point i came across is that this player doesn't display the folders in the actual tree form the way they are stored on a disk.

3 out of 5 stars Good player, OK MP3 playback.......2004-09-29

This player plays CDRs, DVD+R, & DVD-R (Ritek 8X only tested so far).

Sound quality is good also, SACD is GREAT (with 5.1 out of course).

My only compliant is that it won't random\shuffle MP3 CDs. I burned 100's of MP3s to a CD with a folder structure and it won't snuffle them. This VERY disappointing since I have an MP3 deck in my truck, MP3 boom box for camping, etc.

5 out of 5 stars The Ulitimate DVD Player!.......2004-07-26

Considering the average price for most DVD players being only around $39.99 it seems there would be no sense to buying a expensive $200 DVD player unless it had tons of new features. This player does everything a regular cheap DVD player can do and more! Not only can it play DVDs but it can also play CDs as well! Also not only can it hold up to 5 DVDS at a time, but it also allows you to actually switch between discs While one is playing! As if that wasent enough it also features a built in Dolby Digital/DTS decoder and Virtual 3D Surround Sound.A ajustable interface,16.9,4.3 and Fullscreen Viewing options,Several aspect modes including Standered,Dynamic, and Cinema Screen options, and lets you adjust every aspect of your TV,DVDs,and Home Theater Systems. It does not have the Pan and Scan feature, however. There are so many more options that i am just too lazy to mention. The Picture and Sound Quility of this player is exellent. However, the only flaw with this thing is the high freqency sound which sometimes causes ubnormal volume levels.Causing you to have to get up and change the volume more then enough times.Other then that i would say that although it is not the best DVD player on the market. It is full of features that are not available with other DVD Players.

3 out of 5 stars Great DVD Player, but limited lifespan.......2004-05-13

I bought this DVD Player almost a year ago. I bought it to replace the Panasonic 5 Disc changer that I put in my basement. The Panasonic did not have the picture quality that I need given my 55" high definition TV so I thought I'd try a Sony. It worked great for the entire year, but now it won't play any DVDs. About two weeks ago, I started having trouble playing a DVD in one or two of the five disc spots, but if I switched them around, I could get it to work. Now I can't play any DVDs on it. I was very happy with the player and I do use it several times a week, but it should last more than a year.

5 out of 5 stars Very good cd sound and dvd performance for the price.......2004-03-04

I bought the unit recently and cds sound better than they ever did before. For the price, imho this unit is hard to beat. And you get all of the advantages of a carousel holding five discs.

DVD picture is also very good.

2 out of 5 stars Disc skip is hidden........2005-03-15

I bought this player 6 months ago and it just died. You actually can skip DVDs from the remote. You just have to hit the numbers on the remote numbered 1-5 and it will skip to the corresponding DVD. The thing that annoyed me most about this player is that there was no way to tell what DVDs were loaded in the unit. You either had to remember what "DVD in tray number 3" was or go through every DVD until you got the correct one.

3 out of 5 stars No disc skip on remote! Really a one-disc player........2004-02-23

The player would be great except for a "fatal" flaw -- the remote does not have a disc skip button! This means that the 5-disc player is really only a one-disc player -- you still have to get up and manually control the player to change discs.

If you're looking for a one-disc player, you should consider this one. Otherwise, it is very disappointing.

3 out of 5 stars Good but not great.......2004-02-05

The RCA DRC510N has a lot of features and puts out a great picture, but the 5-disc changer is what sold me; however, it was disappointing to find out that the remote does not allow you to switch to a different disc, at the end of one DVD it does not automatically start playing the next disc, and also MP3 discs do not automatically play, instead a menu appears on your screen and you have to make a selection. So at the end of the day, the 5-disc changer is only really a 5-disc storage bin and you have to get off the sofa to switch between discs.

This unit features progressive scan (480p) playback, Kodak Picture CD/JPEG playback, MP3/WMA audio file playback, video fluorescent display, active full screen function (AFF), 2x and 4x zoom, frame-by-frame advance, and LED indicator. Common inputs include progressive/interlaced component video output, S-video output, composite video output, optical and coaxial digital audio output, and analog stereo audio output.

    Amazon.com Product Description

Whether you're planning a sing-along party, putting together a digital slideshow for the family, wanting to play homemade MP3/WMA CDs, or simply feeling ready to park yourself in front of five favorite DVDs back to back, the multi-disc, progressive-scanning Apex ADM-5000 is a great choice.

The high-end video outputs of the ADM-5000 deliver the full potential of DVDs, today (if your living room is already home to an HDTV) or tomorrow. Progressive scanning, referred to as 480p for the number of horizontal lines that compose the video image, creates a picture using twice the scan lines of a conventional DVD picture, giving you higher resolution and sharper images while eliminating nearly all motion artifacts. In any case, standard composite- and S-video outputs bring compatibility with nearly any television. Apex's active full screen function (AFF) helps resize widescreen (16:9 aspect ratio) video images to fill 4:3 aspect-ratio sets.

The unit's two karaoke microphone inputs have dedicated volume controls so you can tailor the balance to match the singers and the music sources. A set of left/right analog-audio outputs channels sound to Dolby Pro Logic receivers and stereo televisions. Both Dolby Digital and DTS 5.1-channel surround-sound signals can be routed through the player's digital-audio outputs (one each optical and coaxial) for direct connection to a full-featured audio/video receiver and surround speaker system.

Now this is what you should expect out of a DVD player (and for the price!). Every DVD I've played in this player has been top-notch and only increases any viewing experience you might have. The 5-disc carousel is a blessing for DVD titles such as Fight Club which incorporates 2 dvd's and allows you to go back and forth. Another simply amazing feature included is a dialogue enhancer which allows you to actually enjoy the movie (on your system with a center channel) instead of constantly having to adjust the volume. The scan feature is a plus but for anybody that looking to get the most out of their DVD experience this is a great buy!

1 out of 5 stars You can't handle the truth.......2005-08-01

My DVD no longer works.... Why? I thought it was the discs. I purchased brand new discs opened the package and placed directly in the unit without touching anything elese... Nothing happened. I have always loved SONY brand name. I just finished reading what others have written, I am having a hard time handling the truth... Unforetunately, I have to concur with others that this unit is NOT something to purchase. I hope that its current status of 'Unavailable' is because the people at SONY read these reviews as well....

2 out of 5 stars The one up side............2005-03-04

The one good thing about this product is this. When the motor that spins the discs burned out, I was able to buy the identical product with a different problem off of ebay for $20 and replace the motor. So many people have a problem with this product that you can easily pick up an extra one for spare parts.....sad.
I tried to just buy the motor, but Sony has some deal with the manufacturer so they won't sell this $2 motor to anyone but them.

1 out of 5 stars TERRIBLE player, terrible customer service from Sony........2004-01-18

I got the NC615 (not from Amazon) in July 2002 primarily to check for DVD-R playability and quality control (I'm a video producer and burn DVDs for clients). I had a total of about 3 hours use on the player in the first 8 months I owned it. Then I bought Sopranos DVD sets and started using it more regularly.

It was then I noticed it would stall, freeze, and then cut off periodically. At first it was so infrequent that I tried to attribute it to disc abnormalities and let it go.

Dealing with defective products is such an incredible hassle . . . expensive shipping, multiple calls and many, MANY minutes on tech support hold lines, pulling out entertainment centers and dealing with a mass of wires and dust in a small spaces, etc. Also, since the measly 90 day labor warranty (by far much more important than parts) had long passed, I knew I'd likely be footing 90% of any repair bill at that point anyway, so I succumbed to the denial that the player was at fault.

I could only delude myself a few months longer as the problem got worse and worse, the player eventually freezing and shutting off 5-10 times during any viewing session longer than 20 minutes. Of course by this time, the parts warranty had also conveniently expired.

But since I've dropped over $20,000 on professional Sony video equipment in recent years, I thought Sony customer service just MIGHT want to keep me happy, so I phoned them. I was wrong. I was met with absolute indifference, abruptness, and a refusal to consider the individual circumstances which made it a travesty of fairness for me to have to pay for the repair of this product, which cost well over $200 at the time I purchased it.

To make matters even comically worse, my sister was given the same player for Christmas of 2002, and hers started to exhibit similar problems late in 2003, also conveniently well after the labor warranty had expired and just as the parts warranty was expiring.

Two out of two identical products with the same defects in one family is hard to attribute to sheer bad luck. This was very likely a lemon product, an inherently defective player with an abnormally short useful life that Sony is refusing to stand behind, even for a loyal customer that's given them many thousands of dollars in business. Because of this unforgivable customer service breach, I will never buy another Sony consumer electronics product and will certainly try to avoid purchase of as many of their pro products as possible.

I advise others to STEAR CLEAR of this player and all those in direct succession to it, which is likely to be anything with a model number like NC6##.

    1 out of 5 stars It's true.......2003-10-02

I've always recommended and purchased Sony brand. I didn't buy mine at Amazon.com, but I'm here 10 months later to buy a replacement. It stopped reading DVDs yesterday. I removed the cover expecting to find the sensor needed cleaning. What I found was that the disc motor isn't spinning it up to speed any more. Reading the other reviews, it's clear this isn't an isolated incident.

    1 out of 5 stars Not a good product.......2003-09-25

I ordered this DVD player before reading the reviews here, and that was a mistake. It plays normally about 50% of the time, and the other 50% it looks like it has a tracking error, even though there's no such thing on DVD's. My experience with Sony trying to get this fixed has been laughable, as they always say it's the DVD's, which always play fine on my PlayStation2. Support is terrible, so I'd recommend against buying this unless you like a nice looking paperweight.

    Product Description

It's a digital world. A world where sound surrounds you and pictures dazzle the imagination. It's a world where the excitement of the movies is captured and brought to life on a simple five-inch disc - the size of a CD. Welcome to the incredible world of DVD. As a leader in digital technology, Panasonic made possible and forever changed the face of home theatre. Panasonic has packed big-screen excitement into the world's smallest and lightest DVD player. The DVD-F85S 5-disc changer model adds DVD-Audio playback, bringing 6 channels of incredibly powerful and realistic surround sound to living rooms everywhere.

    Amazon.com Product Description

Turn your entertainment room into a multidisc, multiformat paradise with Panasonic's super-slim DVD-F85S five-disc DVD changer. The player offers incredible format handling, including standard DVD-Video to DVD-R and DVD-RAM, CD-R and CD-RW, support for MP3 and WMA CDs, and even high-resolution DVD-Audio. You also get cutting-edge features like digital remastering, which infuses CD music playback with interpolated high-frequency harmonics that wouldn't otherwise be present, and HighMAT (High-Performance Media Access Technology), a technology developed by Panasonic and Microsoft to ensure digital media compatibility between PCs and consumer electronics.

The deck features a progressive-scan video processor that doubles the scan lines of an interlaced signal (from 480i to 480p) by scanning all 525 lines in 1/60th of a second for each pass. The higher-density video signal (designed for high-definition and HD-ready TVs) brings a film-like quality to DVD images. Other video enhancements include Cinema Mode (which diminishes glare and improves the visibility of details in dark scenes by automatically adjusting picture contrast), Depth Enhancer (which reduces image background noise), and Hi-Speed Smooth-Motion Scan (which enables fast-forward/reverse at up to 200 times normal speed, offering a quick way to access desired scenes).

DVD-Audio offers super-high-fidelity (192 kHz/24-bit) sound. DVD-Audio discs provide multichannel and stereo sound, incredible storage capacity, and unique bonus materials not available on regular audio CDs. As an antipiracy measure, the DVD-F85S performs its own decoding of DVD-Audio signals, passing high-resolution analog--not digital--audio to your surround receiver. This means you'll need an audio/video receiver with multichannel analog-audio inputs to appreciate this feature. To simplify connections, the unit also decodes Dolby Digital and DTS 5.1-channel surround, so--whether you're using DVD-Audio or not--you'll need only one connection type (analog or digital) between the player and your AV receiver.

A feature called 4:4:4 signal processing converts recorded luminance and color-difference signals from 8 to 10 bits and up-samples color signal data, all with the aim of rendering vivid colors, flat luminance signal response, and minimal picture noise. The Direct Navigator and play-list playback features let you access navigation menus and custom play lists on DVD-RAM discs recorded on Panasonic DVD recorders.

The DVD-F85S also boasts features like MPEG digital noise reduction (mosquito/block/3D), depth enhancer, audio channel balance control, audio delay time control, audio-only function (video circuit off), picture mode selection, slow and fast audio playback, and Dialogue Enhancer (which boosts the volume of the center channel during Dolby Digital 5.1-channel presentations).

    What's in the Box
DVD player, remote control, remote batteries, user's manual, and stereo analog audio interconnect/composite-video cable.

5 out of 5 stars Great multi-disc DVD player for less!!!!.......2004-04-07

Panasonic has come out with one of the best multi-disc, progressive scan DVD players on the market.. AND they have priced it where ANYONE can own it. The picture quality is great as is the sound. Only one thing to remember: when setting the player to progressive scan, you need to go to the on-screen menu to set the output to progressive scan. If you use the setup menu, it will say "progressive scan" but it won't display the DVDs in that mode unless you set it on the menu display.

I highly recommend this player to anyone who is getting into progressive scan DVD players for the first time. Great player at a great price!!!

1 out of 5 stars Stay away from Panasonic!!!.......2004-03-15

I would put it below 1 star. My 5-disc Panasonic unit died of the infamous H07 code after 14 months. After searching H07 on google, the H07 is common on Panasonic DVD players, and it means it is time for a new player. Stay away from Panasonic!!! This changed my mind about Panasonic entirely.

3 out of 5 stars So far so good.......2004-02-13

So far, all I've played on this player are DVDs, VCDs, and CD-Rs and it works fine. Although the player is a little slow to startup because it reads in some data first, it's not too bad. My old Sony cost 3 times more, but it was faster. This Panasonic makes a few noises when changing discs and stuff, but no big deal. The display is a bit small as well. Other than these things, the picture quality has been superb on my 32" Sony television via S-video connections. You can't beat the price though and the free shipping.

4 out of 5 stars Cant beat it for the $.......2004-02-05

I'm sure there are better players out there, but not for this price. The slim design looks cool, but has 2 drawbacks, 1. if you listen to alot of music on it without the tv on its kind of hard to see whats going on, although the track numbers are large the rest of the info is tiny 2. the remote sensor is all the way to the right side, so the frame of the door that closes on my stereo rack blocked the signal, then again the slim design made it easy to find a hole to fit it in. Great picture, great sound I'm extremely happy

4 out of 5 stars Very good for the money!.......2004-02-02

We recently purchased this DVD player and it is very good for the money. The only drawback is it lacks picture positioning settings, ours has been displaying video and menus to far to the left of the screen! We are exchanging this to try another one to see if it is any better. We know it is ot our TV as all other video sources are fine!

    Amazon.com Product Description

The DVD793CH offers high-resolution progressive-scan picture quality (for use with high-definition and HD-ready TVs) with the convenience of multi-disc play. The player is compatible with DVD-Video, VCD/SVCD, CD-R, CD-RW, MP3-encoded discs. Whether your living room is currently home to an HDTV or you're merely thinking of "someday," the DVD793CH stands ready to deliver the full potential of DVDs. Progressive scanning, referred to as 480p for the number of horizontal lines that compose the video image, creates a picture using twice the scan lines of a conventional DVD picture, providing higher resolution and sharper images while eliminating nearly all motion artifacts.

Top-of-the-line component-video outputs help minimize line scan and digital artifacts on compatible advanced televisions, while composite- and S-video outputs bring compatibility with nearly any television. The back panel offers one output each for composite-video, S-video, and component-video. Play exchange lets you swap four discs while a fifth is playing, and five-disc resume enables you to pick-up where you left off in your five most recently viewed DVDs.

In the audio realm, a single set of left/right analog-audio outputs channel audio to Dolby Pro Logic receivers and stereo televisions. Both Dolby Digital and DTS 5.1-channel surround-sound signals can be routed through the player's coaxial digital-audio output for direct connection to a full-featured audio/video receiver. If you don't have a surround receiver or six-channel speaker setup, you can still make every movie night the ultimate experience: the player simulates surround sound through two speakers (even the stereo speakers on a TV).

    1 out of 5 stars Poorly constructed.......2007-03-01

There is apparently a problem with the Philips DVD-793 and the optical disk rotation motor wearing out. The motor eventually wears out and doesn't have enough torque to overcome the initial static friction and start spinning the disc. The player kicks the disk out and displays a "Disc Error" message when in fact it is the player mechanism malfunctioning. Sometimes you can overcome this by using a "Fonzie" and giving the machine a light tap as it's loading.

Mine, (a DVD793CH21) lasted about 3 years, so I suppose I am lucky considering the reviews where people got less than a year of service. It's not feasible or cost effective to attempt to repair the part, so I guess I'll be buying something else. Probably not branded "Philips"

5 out of 5 stars Why such low ratings?.......2006-05-15

I don't get why this mahcine has only a 3 for a rating. It rates much highter than that. Crystal clear picture. If people are complaining about what it doesn't do they are fools. It does everything it says it was do excellently!

2 out of 5 stars Do Not Buy 793CH - Very Slow and Doesn't Play All DVD's.......2004-08-04

I bought Philips 793CH thinking that Philips has a great reputation in making great DVD & CD players, but i got really disappointed as my player most of time doesn't read discs. Sometimes it reads the disk and sometimes it rejects the same disk when entered later. Most of the time i get the display saying "disk error". IT doesn't give the folder names for the MP3 files so you have to look for a perticular song in the list of 150 songs and its doesn't even display the full title of the song as it is limited to less character space only. Although this player has all the fancy outputs including 'component video output', 's-video output', and has optical in and they work great but the bottom line for this player is "ITS NOT WORTH IT"
I still don't have any probs with Philips as a brand cause other DVD players of Philips kicks ass! they just play anything! But this one is a loser!

1 out of 5 stars DO NOT BUY PHILIPS - WILL NOT STAND BEHIND THEIR PRODUCTS.......2004-07-10

My Philips DVD793CH 5 Disc DVD Player stopped working within a year after I had purchased it. Comes up with a "NO DISC" error and refuses to play discs. Only live customer service personnel you can talk to is a service center in Jamaica - very rude and arrogant !!! No response to letters written to a Philips PO Box address in Miami FL. Used to think Philips was a good company - don't think so anymore. I will NEVER ever buy a PHILIPS product again.

    1 out of 5 stars I wouldn't..........2003-11-26

I bought this player for two reasons; first, I was an employee of Philips, and second, the Philips machines seem to play the most formats for DVDs and CDs.

I bought it in December 2002, and in November 2003, all of a sudden, it started saying "no disc" whenever I put in either a DVD or an audio CD. This was after only 10-15 hours of total use!!

So at this point the machine is a boat anchor. They offered me a refurbished one for $60, but I don't feel that I can trust the Philips brand anymore, especially as DVD players keep getting cheaper.
