I got this to replace my Sony Vaio 19" monitor which was giving out and causing eye strain. I bought a 17" Acer monitor on Amazon for my office computer and it is great but given the good reviews and the low price, I decided to go with this monitor for my home office. I was worried that it would be too small but the picture is sharp and my eyes feel fine after using it. I wish I had replaced my Sony monitor sooner.

The days of traditional CRT monitors are numbered. Flat panel displays are slim and lightweight, and some can provide a sharper picture and more dynamic colors than their bulky CRT brethren. Though they're still a few years off from becoming mainstream, it's not too early to jump on the LCD bandwagon. The ViewSonic VP150 is one reason why the traditional CRT monitors' time is up--not only is the display quality unmatched, the unit is also eminently affordable.
With a screen size (15 inches) comparable to a 17-inch monitor, the Viewsonic VP150 provides ample screen real estate while taking up precious little desk space. Measuring 15.3 x 15.4 x 7.1 inches and weighing in at a mere 15 pounds, this lithe flat panel can easily fit on any narrow desktop.
The VP150's native resolution looks best at 1,024 x 768, though it supports a variety of lower resolutions and refresh rates. The contrast ratio is extremely high, as is the brightness, bringing out the color in even the most poorly lit rooms. Picture quality is immaculate and keeps up with the highest-quality DVD movies and fast-paced games. As is typical with most flat-panel displays, quality suffers when you drop the VP150 below its native resolution. Fonts become a little fuzzy and images a little stilted. Though the calibration controls correct the quality somewhat, we found the images to be slightly less than perfect.
Other than the low-resolution quality issue, there was nothing about the VP-150 that we disliked. It offers a sharp picture, excellent picture controls, and a display size that'll make your CRT display seem like a bloated space hog. I had heard many good things about flatpanel monitors and my eyes get tired after long hours in front of my old monitor. since prices have come down in the past few months I decided to splurge and take my co-worker's advice. Glad I did! There is no going back to a regular monitor again. This Viewsonic model I found to have the clearest picture and much better color representation than the other brands. It's unbelievable how sharp this unit is. I saw it at a local store (Compusa I think it was) and it looked great there, it's even better sitting on my desk at home. I can't say enough good things about this monitor. The clarity and everything is fabulous! I could sit in front of the VP150 all day long and not feel any eye strain. Even works great with some games I like to play.

Excellent Monitor.......2006-10-03
Hi've had my VA520 for 3 years now - my computer is on 24 hrs/day. This is an excellent monitor and a great value. The image is perfect, easy to see and takes up little desk space.
I think the previous reviewer may have problems in their computer settings and not a fault of the monitor based on what they described.
This is my second ViewSonic monitor and I will continue to buy their products.
Disappointing Performance.......2004-05-31
I wish I had stuck with a CRT Monitor, but I wanted one of the slim new LCD monitors. I found that this one is hard to view. It doesn't scroll well and you have to view from a certain angle to be able to see the screen.
A big problem is that the screen flickers, sometimes with different colored hues. The defect makes the monitor hard to view. I'll have to send it back to the manufacturer for repair or replacement.

This TV/flat panel monitor died right after the warranty ended. The only thing worse was calling the Viewsonic tech support. They were totally useless. Didn't even try to help with any trouble shooting. Would not point me to a schematic, or suggest known parts that fail all the time. They just kept saying look for a repairman in the yellow pages. You might want to consider a company with a good track record for tech support before purchasing your next flat panel.

I shop around for the best price. I have to, with a small buisness. If your having thoughs on weather to by a CRT or LCD monitor, and think it's not worth paying the extra money for an LCD, let me tell you, you can't even imagine the space I now have with this monitor! Super slim; I actually have a desk to work on now! Ok, so why this one? I have bought and used other ones before. Top brands, good price...but there was always something that made me regret buying it. Picture not sharp enough, doesn't adjust to a good viewing angle, too dark or light resolution, etc. And I need something that works, because I'm a computer programmer & webmaster. So I saw this monitor on Amazon, and thought it'd be like the rest, but the pice was really good, so I bought it, and let me tell you, this is THE best monitor...period! It has a sharp, crystal-clear picture, adjusts to any angle I need, display lighting is easy to adjust to any eyes, compatable with both Windows and Mac's, and so much more. Bottom line: If your looking for a GREAT monitor at an even BETTER price, but THIS monitor!

I got in the mail and its everything I wanted. The only problem I have is the box since it not really travel friendly, but I have another monitor I can use when I move my computer so it isn't that bad.
Superior Quality & Color, Sharp Looking Monitor.......2006-12-31
I was blown away by the negative review here. This is a superior monitor! It is simply the best I have ever used, and blew away all of my expectations.
I've been working in front of a computer screen for 12 years. The VP720b is by far the highest quality monitor I have ever used, and for a pittance of a price. (I recall the days when we spent 2 grand on a Radius 20"). I use it on both Mac and PC units with no problems. I feel it is even better than the high-end Mac units we were using for video editing, at a tenth of the price.
The color is gorgeous! The contrast is extremely easy on the eyes - you will be simply amazed at how much better you will feel compared to a standard VGA, or other LCDs that can be somewhat "washed out." HUGE difference, alone worth the price of switching from whatever you're using today, especially if it's still a standard VGA.
I have had no problems at all with dependability. Unfortunate for the other reviewer, that is bad news. But again, had the monitor two years, no problems. Even after TWO international plane flights where it went through the check-in luggage! Now THAT's RUGGED QUALITY in my book!
Monitor works in 110 or 220 (US or Europe, for example) with just a $5 power cord change. We even use this monitor to watch movies/DVDs on often when we're stuck working late, and it looks great. Played Halo, again, looked totally fabulous.
The comment I most often get from others who see it, is that you can 'get lost in the screen' because the color is that vivid, that crisp and clear, that realistic. It is just amazing, it's more like a window than a monitor.
Finally, with that thin bevel, flat black color and sharp profile, it looks professional and classy on any desk, whether business or design or whatever. And the stand allows for extremely easy height adjustment and swivel or tilt with one finger. Just an astounding monitor, the BEST!
Buy it, you won't be disapointed!
Short Lifespan.......2006-12-01
I purchased 2 Viewsonic LCD monitors and both lasted about a year and a half before the Left side of the screens went dark. No diagnostic queries or interactions could bring them back to normal. I contacted customer support and was told that Viewsonic would do nothing. Maybe I was stupid or naive in not getting a warrany beyond the first year, but I assumed that a good product, made with good parts, from a company that desires to satisfy its customers with a good QA/QC program that ensures thaT quality products are being produced, could make a product (or 2) that would last longer that a year and a half. Faulty assumption. With 2 LCD monitors having the same problem, lasting about the same length of time, and on 2 different computer systems, this strongly indicates to me a non-coincidental problem within Viewsonic. I will not buy anything from Viewsonic again. I will spend a little more, if I have to, to buy a reliable product from a reliable company.

I've had a standard monitor for a few years now but for the last few months have been shopping for a good LCD flat screen at a good price. I came across this one and it had good reviews and was at a good price so I figured I'd give it a shot. Well I'm very happy I did. For the price this LCD is awesome and I'd highly recommend it to friends and family. The set up was super easy and only took about 3 minutes. Well thats it really, enjoy if you buy it, you won't be disappointed.

This seems to be a re-named model of what I have (VA520), so I'm going to throw my two cents in.
I got one of these babies for Christmas last year and have loved every moment of it! The first one I got had a single dead pixel in the middle of the screen and had to be exchanged, but that's no big deal - just be sure to open a blank browser screen or something to check. Anyway, the colors are great, I can keep the monitor further away from my keyboard (easier on the eyes), the Auto Adjust feature works great but can be turned off if you don't like it (just hit one button to manually auto adjust..."manually auto"...you know what I mean). Since getting the replacement I haven't had a single problem. Everyone who comes in comments on what a hot, snazzy monitor I have now.
With the quality and price of this monitor, there's no real reason not to invest in one.

I bought this with a computer system. It was my first flat panel and I am very happy. I have no problems with it at all..There was one issue that i thought was the monitor but turned out to be the video card...I did call viewsoncis tech support and they were helpful and there was no long wait on hold for help. A big plus!
Even tho its a smaller size monitor the viewing size is excellent for me and my family.. Getting the smaller size kept the price down...

This monitor is a good value, good performance, worked perfectly out of the box with virtually no configuration (excepting a wizard that you walk through to set contrast, etc., which worked very well).
