The Cube on my desk has outlasted two monitors, seen the
arrival of wireless technology, linked itself with (and outlived)
two laptops, three digital cameras and three scanners.
It has been repaired once for less than $100. and the RAM

My Cube.......2005-01-30

In 2000 I decided to finally break down and get a computer. Everyone said get a Dell, get a Dell so I got a dell. I got it in the mail, set it up, and crash. Called help. Reinstalled software. Ok for a few days then crash. Anyway, after three weeks of this I returned the Dell and bought a G4 Cube. I love my Cube. All I have ever had to do is add memory and a bigger HD. Runs Panther like a charm. It's so QUIET. And it's purty. I think so! (although the mini has been catching my eye) This really has been a very stable, reliable computer. Even with the original processor I am able to do pretty much everything I want to (photo's, music). It's kinda like driving a neat old sportscar.

I purchased this machine in 2001 as a used item. If one researches for this machine, this model definitely has a cult following.

This machine still is very pricey, but that is the factor of design. It lacks an audio input, which can be solved by spending money on a connector. The supplied Harman International (Harman Kardon) speakers have sound much left to be desired - use a USB audio reciever or other sound device. The ATI Rage AGP video card is quite fine for the time it was released in (Summer 2000), but games is not this machine's great forte. The card is upgradeable, but most on the market are too large to cram into the nice, tissue-box designed case. The machine has no fan within, but has a massive heat sink and the design allows convection to occur.

I'm not a big Mac fan, since I use everything availible, but this machine is a niche product. This design can be classified as a "shuttle" or portable computer, but the external power supply (transformer) and the lack of a handle (since it is not an iMac) makes it what it is.

What I like about using a Mac is the software is easily obtainable at a school, at least in our area; however, I do not like the sales practices many people or companies use (greed driven); to sum that up, rarely free software.

I did not choose this machine for its looks though, since in our area, retail Macs were and still not prevalent in our area and bought it for the fact that it was a Mac, real cheap (at the time), and on sale!

The machine originally released at a price no one would want to touch. The machine is still to this day, overpriced. But with all the modifications, it's worth a project.

The Apple Cube is without a doubt the most beautiful computer ever made. As soon as I saw it in 2001 I knew I had to have one. Apple had already stopped production so I found one on eBay for 2000 bucks. I have never regretted it. I maxxed out the RAM to 2 Gig as soon as I got it. Since then I have put in a much larger hardrive and a superdrive CD/DVD burner with good results. It is running the latest OS X, Panther and I plan to put Tiger on as soon as it is out. It is dead silent as it has no fan. I have it up on some nice teak wood blocks to improve the convection cooling though it had never run hot it just looks good up there. I run it 24/7 as a iTunes jukebox airported to the rest of the house and whatever else I want to compute as well. Irony that just now 5 years later I am seeing PC cubes coming out, only they are UGLY. I would highly recommend this computer to anyone of taste.

I have been waiting literally for years for 19 inch LCD monitors to fall in price to the $300 range. Finally it has happened. This KDS 19 inch monitor compares very well in every way to units that cost double its approximately $270 pricetag.

This unit performs well both for playing DVD movies or for heavy-duty text and graphics applications. I use a graphics package for trial work that mainly involves viewing scanned documents. A poor monitor simply would not work for this application. The KDS monitor handles the scanned documents magnificently, and its 1280 x 1024 resolution is stunning. This is a really nice tool.

The unit performs well for viewing DVD movies. The colors are bright and vivid, and the contrast is good. I did not adjust any settings away from the original factory settings. This unit truly is plug and play, as far as I am concerned. Most users will want to set it on the maximum 1280 x 1024 resolution setting in Windows XP properties menu.

I am mainly using this monitor as a separate monitor for my Notebook computer, enabling me to have the aforementioned scanned documents on one screen (the KDS monitor) and Microsoft Word on the Notebook's own monitor.

Installation was simplicity itself under Windows XP. I simply plugged the KDS unit into the Notebook, and went to the display setting in Windows. Windows had already recognized the KDS unit, and one simply configures it as an extension of the desktop on the properties setting. It took all of 30 seconds and worked perfectly the first time with no rebooting.

This unit proves that 19 inch monitors are finally becoming priced within the range of most of us. About time!

My experience was Awful indeed. I got two boxes (the one I ordered and a reship) and none of the batteries were for the Audiovox 8920, instead they were for another model. I think there was a packaging error with the stock Amazon had by the time I intended
to get the battery from amazon. I ended up getting it from another supplier in Japan at a reasonably price.

WARNING: The photo depicted in this product description is not the same as the item that is actually shipped. Audiovox developed multiple versions of the 8920. The picture matches the Sprint PCS version of the phone, which has square shaped, digital clock on the front of the phone and the battery does not reach all the way to the bottom of the backside of the phone. However, the battery that was shipped to me is for the Verizon version of the 8920, which has a round shaped, analog clock on the front of the phone and the battery reaches all the way down to the charging port at the bottom of the phone. These parts are not interchangeable.

If you have the Sprint PCS version of the Audiovox 8920, DO NOT order this item. If your phone has a rounded sub-LCD on the front with an analog clock, this is your battery. Even though the picture does not look like your battery, the battery that is actually shipped to you is, in fact, for your phone.

Extra Life.......2007-05-15

This battery is definitely a big improvement over the factory installed battery. I have not recorded the actual talk and standby times, but it is obvious that I am getting extra life out of this battery. I used to have to recharge once a day. But with this battery I can go two or three days without recharging. The extended life battery is definitely worth the few extra bucks.

16:9 for under 1K? - Awesome!.......2003-06-20

A great value!

OK, firstly the bad... Unit has a somewhat clumsy input selection between inputs (have to always go thru AV1,AV2,AV3 to get to Svideo), a non-adjustable and non-stored picture sizing,(wide is good for DVD, panorama stretches edges of 4:3, and 2 fixed zoom modes for letterbox, but unit always defaults to wide), a rather weak NTSV via-air tuner (needed a signal amplifier) and only 1 side mounted S-Video jack is available. These are my ONLY complaints...

Otherwise, for the money, it is the best television I have ever owned. It's not a $4,000 Sony, and I acknowlege that, but it's got a mighty good picture when connected to a progressive scan DVD, or to the satellite via the S-Video input.

Why buy 4:3 when you can have 16:9, and why buy fuzzy and blotchy projection when you can have a sharp and bright direct-view flat CRT?

Very Good Value.......2003-04-19

I'm very pleased with my TXM3096HF. (I notice with some chagrin that the negative reviews listed for this model seem to be ACTUALLY for a different model, the TXM3097HF).
My biggest gripe about the TXM3096HF is the annoying remote control requires far too much fiddling, particularly when selecting the source (one must cycle through the choices, there is no direct one-button access to a particular source).
Being a movie fan, I really love the 16:9 aspect ratio and the hi-def picture.
My previous TV was a top-of-the-line Sony-XBR. The Samsung is sure better value-for-money!

Great widescreen set . . . after a few adjustments.......2003-04-14

As far as the negative reviews all I can say is any television and especially an HDTV needs adjustments when you first set it up.

No matter what brand you buy, the factory settings are always lousy, especially contrast. And on this set the Dynamic, Movie, and Standard settings Do Not give you a good picture. Use the Custom option and fine tune your settings.

Turn the contrast way down to around 30. All sets . . . Toshiba, Sony, Panasonic . . . come with contrast set way too high and this is the first thing you need to adjust. Same for brightness and sharpness. Sharpness should be way down in the 10 -12 range and brightness in the 30's range. This will also save your picture tube especially during the first 100 hours when all sets, HDTV or Standard, go through a break in period.

Don't expect standard cable to be magically transformed into a crystal clear picture cause it ain't gonna happen. Some stations will look better but some may look worse. It depends on how good your cable signal is and this will vary from station to station.
You might need to change some of your connections . . . especially the RF cable and the RCA composites. But don't buy overpriced Monster cables . . . you'll be paying for hype and retail mark up and may actual get worse results.

The one source that will really show you how good this set is are DVD's which look fantastic when you connect with component cables. I'm using a Panasonic progressive scan DVD player, but have it set to interlace because the Samsung de-interlacer creates a much better picture.

The TXM3096WHF is a great entry level set. And that's where we are with HDTV . . . . it's just beginning and it's gonna have bugs that will be ironed out over time. At this price you won't feel [taken] if you want to replace it in 2 or 3 years. But you might feel [taken] with a more expensive Toshiba or Sony set, because you're gonna want to replace one of those, too.

Had my set now for 6 months.For the price and watching Dvd's with progressive scan it can't be beat.Purchased a Sony 36XBR at the same time.The Samsung still has the best picture.If your looking for a TV for your Home Theater and don't want to spend a fortune this set is for you.And for you skeptics out there.My whole family owns HDTV's that cost 1000's more and they will all tell you the pic on this set is outstanding.Just buy quality cables and a line conditioner and your set.And as you all know there are alot of HDTV's coming around.Just remeber technology is growing fast with HDTV's.Also when your in the store buying, it is the worst place to watch TV's because of lighting.Most sets on display are not calibrated for the conditions there in.With a good calibration disc this set shows outstanding details.And all this for under 1000.00.I give it a 6 out of 5 stars because of the price.

Bad picture--stay away!.......2003-04-05

I was intially attracted to this set due to its low price compared with other widescreen sets. Mistake! The old addage is true--you get what you pay for. The picture was very distorted around the edges--big noticeable wavy lines. My retailer exchanged the set for a different one (same model) and it did exactly the same thing--very dissappointing for my first foray into HD. I went back for the Panasonic widescreen (also 30 inch) and LOVE that set. Do not waste your time with Samsung. Spend the extra and get quality (ie Panasonic or Sony).

This TV-Computer connector allows you to record onto tape what you are doing on your computer. It also allows you to see what you are doing on the computer on the tv. It is a very good thing to have if you have kids in school who can use it for major projects and it is also fun for personal use. You can see very clear with it, not fuzzy. There are other products for nearly twice the price, yet do the same thing. I recommend everyone buy this product.
