The Point 5 Mk II multichannel home-theater speaker system from Athena Technologies packs eye-pleasing style, high technology, and great sound quality into a small but powerful system. This award-winning set consists of 4 identical Athena Technologies S.5 bookshelf/satellite speakers and a C.5 center-channel speaker, all designed to reproduce the 5 primary channels of a 5.1 DVD or HDTV surround signal: front left/right, rear left/right, and front center.

For the ".1" low-frequency effects channel, Athena recommends its AS-P300 or AS-P400, which are optimized for use with the S.5 speakers. Any powered subwoofer with a continuously variable crossover (low-pass filter) should be flexible enough for a successful pairing, however (it'll just take more listening and adjusting to find the right crossover setting).

All speakers use black, high-gloss finish with silver baffles designed to make them appear smaller than they really are. Each speaker uses a .5-inch Tetron-dome tweeter and 1 (in the satellites) or 2 (in the center speaker) 4-inch high-performance, injection-molded, polypropylene cone woofers. The speakers are rear-ported to enhance bas output, and they're magnetically shielded to prevent image distortion in your TV or computer monitor.

The S.5s offer flexible placement options, high power handling (20 to 100 watts RMS per channel), and massive sound. They're timbre matched for use with Athena's SCT series models or its Audition series speakers. The C.5 center-channel speaker's small size and dynamic output permit broad placement options with no sacrifice in sound quality.

I whole heartedly agree with all the positive feedback on these awesome speakers. I have owned these for almost a year now and love them. I mated these to a Panasonic SA-XR55S digital receiver. (Which BTW is also the cats meow.) This setup is AWESOME.. (but remember you do need an active sub)

So if you can find them buy them.

I'd spent nearly 3 months searching for an affordable home theater solution before stumbling upon these little gems of a speaker called Athenas at my local best buy. I was immediately blown away by the amazing sound quality of the tiny Micras so naturally, I began researching the company and their products. After 2 months of homework and browsing AVSFORUM.com, I decided to purchase the point5s from onecall.com. The speakers are definitely bigger than you think, but are actually quite small for the sound they reproduce.

I CANNOT, cannot---C-A-N-N-O-T say enough great things about these speakers. Paired with the Athena 10 inch sub and an Onkyo 7.1 channel receiver, these speakers allowed me to watch all 3 Star Wars DVDs like I've NEVER been able to watch before - EVER. They produce such amazingly accurate HIGHS and lows that just make you want to make EVERY damn night a blockbuster (or netflix) night.

BUT be warned, you will want to watch EVERYTHING over and over again. You will turn down the X3 premier just so you can watch it at home when it comes out on DVD. You will make fun of your friend who spent more than 2 paychecks on their awesome BOSE (read, crap) Lifestyle system and laugh in their face when they'd rather watch T2 and Lord of the Rings at YOUR place instead. Your friends, family, neighbors, co-workers, financial advisor, mailman will use every damn excuse on this planet to accidentally "drop by" whenever you happen to have another movie night. You may NEVER step foot outside of your house again. Ever. My apt measures 22x18 (with 11' ceilings) and these speakers fill the ENTIRE room with such beautiful, melodic, accurate, extraordinary, amazingly, incredibly, tremendously, pure and intoxicating AWESOME sound. Can you tell that I absolutely love these things? If these speakers do no blow you away, NOTHING WILL.

I could write the same things as the other reviewers -- man it is really true. I upgraded from my dry-rotted 20-year-old speakers/system to a 5.1 system. My old school of thought was somewhat skeptical -- how could I get full sound out of these tiny things?

The results are amazing. I've had these since November '05 and they sound just great. I paired this up with an Audiosource PSW-100 subwoofer and a Sony STR DE-898 receiver.

You will need a subwoofer!

There is no way for a speaker system of this price that I could possibly feel justified in offering any criticism here. It is really big sound from some really smallish speakers but you can shake the walls with these babies.

These speakers are awesome. I was waiting for my speakers to break-in before I write this review. I had a pair of Sony SS-MF650H for my mains and a Sony SS-CN550H for my center and SONY surrond speakers ( I dont remember the model no). I was unhappy with my SONY purchase as it sounded OK but not great.
I knew ATHENA makes great speakers but was very doubtfull if these bookshelfs can replace my floor standing. But I was clearly amazed to see these speakers shine. These are way better than my SONY speakers.You need a subwoofer for these speakers.
This will be the best 200 dollars you have ever spent.

First off, I am a home theatre buff. Second, I am not an audiophile, that is, I am no audio expert. What I can tell you is that if you have any kind of "run of the mill speakers", you will notice a vast improvement with these babies! If I had to describe it without using any technical jargon, which I could not anyway, I would say that these very rich and full sounding. I did not quite realize what the benefits of "wide range" other reviewers were talking about. I knew what it was, but had a hard time putting my finger on what difference it would make. It only takes one listening session to learn how much better speakers with good range sound. You can spot it immediately, especially if you are upgrading from those run of the mill speakers.
I did hear the "tinnyness" right out of the box other reviewers mentioned. However, after about a 30 hour break in period so far,they are really starting to "smooth out" and sound better and better as each hour passes. So it is important to follow the break in proceedure.
These are not typical satellite micro speakers, however I prefer the added dynamics only possible in a larger speaker. Also, Athena wants you to set all of the speakers to LARGE on your receiver. I also find the mirror black to be very attractive. These are also pretty heavy. With my other, smaller speakers, I just put the two front speakers on my speaker stands with velcro. However with these, I suggest you get some 3M double sided tape(this is great stuff). This is the kind used for automotive emblems and can be found in the automotive section of almost any store.
It looks like Amazon is out of these now. They had them for $189.00 for a few days. I also got $30.00 off for signing up for an Amazon card and putting them on that, which I have months same as cash to pay for them. So I really feel like I got a good deal on these at $159.00 shipped! I also got free second day shipping for signing up Amazon prime trial. Amazon ran out of these one other time not so long ago, but they got some more in. I am not sure if they plan on getting any more in or not this time.

I didn't want to spend much for a monitor because I was waiting for the prices to drop on the flat monitors. Well, I got what I paid for. The color was great and controls were above average. However, at 8 months, the color fizzled. It became a boat anchor. At least at this price I didn't lose too much money. Wasn't even worth the time and expense to send it in under warranty.

I bought one of these monitors for my old computer that I gave to my Five year old to learn on. I bought one of the cheapest monitors available so If it got broken I wouldnt be out much money. I have to say I am VERY impressed with the quality and ease of use of this monitor. It is no means a high end monitor, but well worth the money spent. This is a good monitor for beginners or childrens computers.

fine single use cameras.......2007-09-07

I have used these cameras many times on vacation and the pictures really DID come out fairly well! Oh, sure, the quality of the pictures won't be 100% as good as the pictures you would get from a digital camera or a standard, more expensive and more professional 35 mm camera. The pictures may at times be very slightly grainy but they provide excellent records and memories of my experiences.

Each camera is also very lightweight so you can carry several at a time in a bag as you travel. I especially like the built in flash that is easy to use (just push a button in the back of the camera and after 10 seconds or so the flash is ready). I remember my mother's Kodak Instamatic camera from the 1960s when if your flash cube had been used (after only four pictures) you were out of luck unless you had another flash cube. No such problem here! Thank goodness!

One cautionary note, however: Amazon correctly notes that the best flash range is when you're taking pictures of people or things between 4 feet and 14 feet away. Remember that to get the best use out of the flash!

The camera is a single use camera; this means that after you use it you take the entire camera to the place where you can get film developed and they will take care of the rest. No worrying about whether or not you removed the roll of film negatives correctly without exposing them to too much light. The Kodak "MAX" 800 film speed also makes it useful for taking pictures under a wide variety of lighting situations! You get 27 exposures, not just 24--a nice plus! SMILE

Overall, this is an excellent camera for the many, many people who want to travel light or who are on a budget. It is compact and easy to carry; keep one in the glove compartment of your car just in case there's an accident and you need to take pictures of the scene. The camera is also affordable. I give it four stars instead of five simply because the picture quality just isn't the very best although for most people like me the pictures it takes are fine. Thank you, Kodak!

Simple to use giving great results!.......2004-01-03

I bought one of these 2 Camera packs a few years ago. They were easy to use, the Flash worked everytime. The results produced nice Colorful Clear shots.
I recommend these to anyone heading out with friends.
Not sure if Kodak still manufacture these camera's though.

I am really upset, because I ordered this product in June and still have not received it after 5 months. I also have emailed this person on 3 separate occasions and have yet to receive an explanation of any kind. They certainly cashed my check immediately and left me holding nothing. I bought the Olympus digital for the capability of digital photos and to then have the ability to push a button and have an instant picture develop before my eyes. The 500 film is great, sometimes I wish the printable surface was bigger but. People flock beside me when using the camera and 500 film. Excellent product as I said - the best of 2 camera manufactures!

Not sure what there is to review about this type of film. If you have a JOYCAM, you need this film. And it works fine. But too bad if it didn't, cause that is the only kind you have to choose from. ;-)

The black ink cartridge that I purchased is the correct one for my printer but would not work. I purchased another cartridge locally and it worked fine. After reporting this to the seller he refunded the purchase price. Good service.

Easily clogs.......2006-04-11

My printer was unused for several weeks. Cartridge is now hopelessly clogged. Repeated cleaning cycles would not end the color streaking. Also, the Epson status monitor does not work with this cartridge. So one doesn't know that status of the ink levels remaining.

The ink worked well.. It took seconds to place in the cartridge and I was ready to print.. Please ignore the review that said their ink cartridge never fit.. If they read the description carefully, they would notice that their cartridge was not included.. therefore would not fit into their printer. The price was a lot cheaper than Staples. Plus, I got it with free shipping!!

Don't buy this item!.......2005-03-04

One star only because I can't place this review with NO stars!

I ordered this combo recently and the black cartridge is NOT correct for an Epson 670 printer. It's too large for the slot. The color cartridge worked fine. When I reported the issue to Customer Service, their only solution was for me to return everything rather than sending me the correct cartridge.
