Doesn't best USB.......2006-01-19

I wanted to sync my iPod as quickly as possible, and the documentation (printed and online) suggested that firewire would be faster than USB or USB2.0. But I've synced several times each way, and at least this PCMCIA firewire cardbus is *slower* than USB2.0.

Plus, the iPod battery is recharged during a USB/USB2.0 sync, but *not* during a firewire sync. So not only does the firewire sync take longer just for the music, and not only is additional time (and a connection) required to recharge the battery, but the battery also drains *during* the firewire sync, making it a triply long process.

I'm returning this, and going back to USB.

Of course, film is not as practical than digital but do consider that for the price of a 35mm film camera, you can get this beauty and shoot negatives that are 3 times the size of 35mm. That means you'll be able to scan well over 20 million pixels from your negs and this with greater dynamic range that any digital camera out there (even those worth 7,000 dollars).

This camera is quite heavy and the focus is manual so it is only suitable for portrait work and landscape.

You can find this camera second-hand in very good condition for less than 500 dollars (I got mine from adorama through ebay).

OUTSTANDING VALUE.......2007-06-12

The LABTEC DC-1300 is an outstanding camera for the beginner. If you have a PC, it's basically Plug'n'Play to get your photos. The reviewer above, apparently thinks this is a camera for professionals. It is not meant to be that. For your teenager, or your uncle Ralph, who's all thumbs, this is a great way to get them involved with digital photography. I have several high-end digital cameras, but I always keep one of these (I own several) in my glove box, for whenever an unexpected photo opportunity pops up.

Not Good.......2004-08-21

I recieved the labtec for free in the mail, and it's not even worth that. In light other than blinding sunshine and many flourescent lights, the pictures are low quality and grainy. Most are pitch black. The flash turns everything bright orange and makes everything too bright, so everyone's faces are glowing white blobs.

The only thing it's good for is close up flower pictures in the sun that I can use to make my desktop background... But all other pictures taken on it turn out very bad. I make them look sorta ok using Photoshop, but even that doesn't help most of the time.

The video mode is limited to 4 seconds and has no sound. It has no brightness control or anything so it doesn't turn out viewable. And it beeps when it starts and finishes, but the beep isn't accurate. So you think that you got something on the movie but it ends up being cut off. 4 seconds is very short, and most of the time you can't even see the video.

The software that comes with it isn't good at all and it is hard to navigate and operate. You need to read the manual a lot in order to understand what it does. Plus, the shutter speed is very slow. The picture is actually taken way after it beeps. So it beeps and you think the picture was taken so you lower the camera, then it takes a picture after that of your feet. Or the shot becomes blurred by the motion. So you have to hold it completely still for a few seconds after the beep until you're sure it works.

Only works in bright sun, never ever use the flash. Usually isn't focused, color is messed up.

It was better than the last free camera I got though, but now I need a camera that actually costs something...

Please don't waste your money buying this. Labtec should pay you to buy it.

Though the great price on this mp3 player makes it more attainable than an iPod, the external quality of it is poor. Good for running and exercising, the small, compact shape makes it easy to carry around in your pocket or purse. Unfortunately, the cheap outer coating on mine started coming off about a month after I bought it, so that now (at one year old) it looks very cheap and used. The screen does not display the name or artist of the songs, only a number to which it is assigned, which was disappointing as well.
The software often crashes, but is easy to use for beginners. Also, the program seems cheaply put together as well.
But again, I have had mine for one year and it still works prfectly. If internal quality is your real concern, and you have no preference of how it looks, I'd say this mp3 player is a great deal.

Not the refurbished ones, though.......2003-10-24

I saved some money and bought a refurbished one. It lasted less than three months and now won't power up. The manufacturer warranty on the refurbs is one month, which tells you how much faith they put in their product. Buyer beware.

When I first purchased and used the iRock, I had absolutely no problems. But a week into using the iRock, the player and the software started crashing on me on a regular basis. Tech support had no satisfactory answers. Avoid and go for the iPod.

Purchased Iroc 3 weeks ago - claims to upgrade to 256K with additional Smart Media cards. Purchased card and loaded system up. Could not get unit to play over 40 songs -even though 86 were loaded (combination of internal and external memory) - wrote tech service - only received statement that eventually unit will be able to play 99 songs - but did not answer my question or problem why I was having trouble.
