Always IBM, always happy.......2005-12-19

Thinkpads have made me an IBM loyalist (and I'm a graphic designer who's "supposed" to prefer Macs!). I've had the Thinkpad R51 about 6 months and can't say enough good things about it. Great battery life. VERY DURABLE considering its been dropped a time or two by my 2 year old and myself.

Two great improvements over my last Thinkpad
(which I still have, its over 5 years old)

-"Night light" for the keyboard BUILT IN, no need for an additional laptop light to see when typing on a dark airplane, in bed @ night, etc.

-Touchpad AND pointer-- IBM has finally integrated both. I really don't have a preference, I go back and forth between both. The pointer is also larger, about fingertip size instead of the previous pencil eraser size. IBM's aren't fancy on case design and I rather like that. My 5 year old doesn't feel so dated as it looks like the fraternal twin to my newer Thinkpad. They are "meat and potatoes" machines thru and thru.

Due to a pricing error on another website, I snagged mine 6 months ago for less than $700 (the price was corrected less than 24 hours later). Even if you buy it for the current list price, it is well worth the money. I've had Dell, Tandy, and Compaq laptops in the past. IBM's are most durable and from my experience with two models over the past handful of years, I've squeezed more than my money's worth out of them.

I had this camera before and It was good for the price. I threw this camera away because I thought it was bad at the time than I bought other cameras in this price range and this is the BEST ONE, others you can't take a picture because its too dark ( even though theres a lot of light!) This has a flash so no need to worry. Great camera for the price. Buy it if you want a camera with SOME clarity, ( NOT the best) but good for the price.

Good Cheap Camera.......2002-03-15

I've seen tons of reviews on this camera. Some good and some bad. Some of these people giving the bad reviews must be a little deluded. Maybe they thought someone was going to give them a [price] camera for [price]. Wake up! This camera works better than any camera even close to the price. Admittedly, the included software isn't all that great, but I didn't buy it for the software. I have sent nice snapshots to all of my friends and family by exporting as jpegs. Great all-around deal.

A very frustrating camera!.......2002-02-05

This camera was purchased with ebay listings in mind. When I can get the photos to load they are fine for computer usage. BUT it is a rare occasion when this is possible. The software for the camera is horrible. Largan's technical support is even worse. Avoid purchasing this camera at all costs!

Acceptable, with limits.......2001-12-12

Like most other reviewers, we found flash closeups to be grossly overexposed.

Since we take a LOT of such flash closeups, we simply made a small "hat" made from a strip of copy paper to fit over the flash. End of problem.

As to unpredictability of the flash: The camera doesn't need much light to decide for itself the flash isn't needed. We tend to set the camera to force a flash and use the "hat" as described above. Outdoor pictures are generally very good, but certainly not up to mega-pixel quality.

The camera IS a bit of a battery-hog, but since it comes with an AC adapter, we often use the adapter for those indoor closeups. Battery savings hint: The camera uses battery #123, a single 3-volt cell. Buy a battery #223, which has TWO 123's in it, and use them, IF you're willing to crack open the plastic case, which isn't the easiest thing to do, but saves you about 30-40% over the cost of 2 #123's.

Not Great.......2001-12-12

This is a decent sub-1Megapixel camera if you aren't too concerned about color. It doesn't get colors right at all. Plus, the time to process a picture is way too long. Don't use the included software for the camera - go to the Largan web site and download the twain driver. Additionally, the pictures are always overexposed with the flash. My advice; don't bother.
