I tried understanding how to hook up the dvd/vcr combo with my cable box and tv, but can't figure it out, Broksonic does not have a helpful website nor a very easy manual to read. can anyone help me.

Broken After 12 Months.......2005-06-23

Anyone who rated this product well hasnt owned the unit for more than 6 monnths. Mine started skiping after 6 months. I thought it was just dirty. Now 12 months later, it wont play DVD's at all. Truly a piece of junk.

I bought this Broksonic model 810 a year ago and recently the dvd part reads incorrect disc. I tried to locate a service manual to fix it but can,t find a web site for this company. You get what you pay for????

Don't Buy this if you value your tapes........2005-04-25

I bought this based upon reviews I read at Amazon.com. At first it seemed to work all right. Then it seemed to have proplems recording on tape; so I thought maybe it was because the tapes were longer than normal. Now it is chewing up tapes I bought through Amazon.com.

A definite turkey. Maybe it is impossible to expect one machine to do two functions.

dvd does not work.......2005-03-26

As one previous review stated the DVD reads all DVD's as "incorrect disc" after about 4 months. This review was right on the money for mine does the same. Do not purchase this unit unless you are using it for a store prop.

Unless there is a cure for this by the manufacturer please save your self the aggravation of your spouse yelling at you because you bought cheap!!

I only have good things to say about this piece of equipment. It has superb recording quality, it looks good, and it works flawlessly everytime I use it. I got mine for Christmas and I am doing some serious recording of my favorite shows and movies. I won't even have to buy the Seinfeld dvd collection because it comes on tv 4 times a day and all I have to do is pop in a dvd-r and hit record! After finalizing my discs, I have been able to play them in every dvd player in my home, including my computer. It took a little time for me to understand all the directions in the user's guide but other than that, the basic recording features of this machine is simple to follow. All I have used so far are dvd-r's, Fuji brand and TDK brand (because to my knowledge, dvd+r won't work with this equipment). Plus dvd-r's are relatively cheap nowadays(Circuit City and Best Buy run weekly ads for $6.99 - $7.99 for a 25 pack). A dvd-rw comes in the package so it gives you a little something to practice with, so if you make a mistake, the dvd-rw can be erased! I love my dvd recorder/vcr combo.

biggest piece of garbage ever put on the market.......2005-06-13

oh boy where do i begin..i had more problems with sound transfer than anything else.pretty much all the dvds i made had a static sound in the background.and a couple the sound would go up and down.now lets not forget this is a vcr/dvd recorder combo so theres no wires connecting the two
also the were other problems when sometimes the dvd would not play on my other dvd player.i did not forget to finalize the disc and it would in fact play on my computers dvd player proving that.
other times when i was done recording in slp for 6 HOURS!!! when i would press stop to stop recording it would pop up on the screen "disc error" basicly meaming i had just wasted 6 hours of my time.and it would not just do that in slp but sp mode as well. also when it would do this the dvd recorder would just freeze.i could not eject the dvd,turn off the power or anything.i would have to unplug it and plug it back in to get it going again.
there was one last problem with this combo.it was way to sensitive.if my video would flicker just a little bit the dvd recorder would stop recording thinking the tape was at the end. come on there are no perfect video tapes out there.once they get a year or so old vhs tapes begin having problems.thats why dvds were created.so if your old family home video is not perfect your screwed basicly.
i never finished my recording project with this piece of junk. insteed i got a refund and used the money to buy a sony rdr-gx300 . it was a tad bit more money (like 40 dollars more) but well worth it as i've had no problems and i am infact done with my recording project
lesson for today is .... stick with brands you've heard of and are well respected..i gave the new guys a chance and was burned.. i think dealing with it gave me high blood preasure:)

SO FAR, AWESOME!!! I couldn't be happier!.......2005-05-16

I originally bought a Samsung Combo Recorder only to have it come out of the box broken! I then bought this Broksonic on the reccomendation of a friend that owns the exact same model. WHAT A GREAT MACHINE!!! Not one error, one messed-up disc, or one bad thing to say about it! I HIGHLY RECCOMEND IT if you want a quality recorder at a great price! Circuit City carries this model and I bought mine there last week for $229 plus tax! So far I am very happy with it. My friend has had his for about six or eight months and just raves about it! He says that it works better than his $1000 Phillips and that it performs flawlessly EVERY TIME! What else is there to say?

A Great Little Unit!.......2004-09-16

We purchased this tv/dvd combo for our RV. A 13" televison was just slightly too large for the space. This was just small enough that it slid right in. The unit is fantastic. We used it on the road and found that the DVD didn't skip at all - even over some pretty bumpy, poor roads. Our XBox hooked right up to the unit quickly and easily through the 3 front AV inputs. The only problem we found was because the speakers are on the side of the unit, all the road noise made it difficult to hear dialog without maxing out the volume. This wasn't a problem when we watched the TV while stationary - even with the generator running. The unit has a headphone jack in the front and we'll connect headphones to it for the next trip to make it easier to hear.

I highly recommend this unit!

Extremely Disappointed.......2004-09-03

I bought this item for our small R.V. and although it worked well to begin with, after only seven months the DVD no longer opened. In order to have it fixed under warranty, which only covers parts at seven months, one must ship it to Broksonic and pay a $20 fee. This seems a bit ridiculous considering the cost of the item. Since we only used it, gently, eight times total before it failed to function, and in light of the warranty policy, I have to give it a "two".

Highly recommend this over TV/DVD combo in a bag provided you have a way to secure in your vehicle. Extra screen size makes it worth the price.

Great for the minivan.......2002-09-02

We purchased this system for our minivan. We opted not to pay the ridiculous amount of $$$$ for the factory installed video system. I was actually looking at the "DVD in the bag" system when I saw this product. The bag system had several mixed reviews such as the small screen, overheating, etc. I actually thought the price was wrong when I saw this system. It sold for over $$$ less than the bag system. It has a big 9 inch screen that can be viewed at an angle (you don't have to be directly in front of it to see it). It can be used with headphones or without and it is also portable and light enough to use in the house. We have it anchored with straps to keep it secured while driving. My children absolutely love it! It does only have one headphone jack. However, we purchased an adapter that turns one jack into two and purchased two cheap sets of headphones. The commercial is right - it definitely makes for a quiet ride. And one other plus...it set up in mere seconds. I highly recommend this product!

The picture quality is quite good. Although I had problems with DVD keeps freezing. I have cleaned it several times and still have problems with it
I owned it for about 4 years and now my remote is failing. Good luck trying to get a universal remote to work completely the codes just don't work. And forget trying to get a replacement remote I can't find one anywhere.Bottom
line I probably won't buy another Broksonic ever again-stick with Zenith or Sony.

Best cd player ever!.......2003-11-12

This is the best cd player I have ever had. The sound is awsome, pretty easy to learn what the buttons do, The remote for it is very good cause there are not any small buttons. It looks awsome and the radio is very good. The anti-shock is 45 seconds for normal cd's and 120 seconds for mp3's. The head phones are horrible so i recommend on buying better ones. over all this is a reliable cd player.

The scope is ok for daytime use. For me the image is a little fuzzy. Night time use is not advised. Have problems with lights turning into "star points". There are probably better scopes available.
