I've bought several of these for my business to be used in the field. More than half of them have come back with different issues; camera does not focus, camera will not turn on, etc. My employees who use these complain about them constantly. I have switched to another brand and have had no complaints with the new cameras.

I am Very disappointed with the quality of the pictures. This is the second one I try. Time to get my money back. Lucky for me I bought it at LL Bean. 100% satisfaction or your money back.
Bushnell needs to stick to binoculars and scopes.

Bad photos, Bad Battery Life.......2006-03-16

The quality of the photos taken by this camera are abysmal. Outdoors, indoors, bright light, low light, it didn't matter. The only remotely acceptable images captured by this camera came after mounting the body to a tripod and shooting a nearby stationary object under controlled lighting. Hardly the advertised intended use.

I returned the camera to the manufacturer, assuming I'd got a lemon. Without a word (or a refund of the shipping charges), Bushnell sent me a brand new replacement camera that won't turn on, even with brand-new batteries. I now get to call them yet again and perhaps this time I won't have to cough up the money to have it replaced.

I hope that perhaps I just got unlucky twice and that I can get one that is as good as it sounds. If not though, if this is truly the quality of this camera, then I would seriously reconsider ever purchasing any Bushnell product again.

Caiman.com did not deliver the product within the initial specified delivery period of several weeks. After I contacted them at the end of this period, they informed me that the product was on back order. At this point, I cancelled the order and went elsewhere to find the product. Owned this for over 7 months now. Never had any problems with it. I use it with a PC with an iLink port. Write speeds typically are around 42X which is very repectable (on a 48X max speed CDR, which is probably the best you will find in a regular store). Moreover, the Roxio software that comes with it is excellent. I had used Nero 5 for a long time, before I started using Roxio and realized Nero wasn't really that great.

A lot of people complain about their burners when its the quality of the CDRs (or even the software) they use. If you want a quality burner for a great price, this is it.

Attention iMac users.......2004-11-21

This external burner hooked up easily. I wanted to burn songs I had purchased from iTunes but iTunes would not recognize the burner. I could drag the songs into Toast and they would burn but the purchased music would not. After some reading, I discovered I needed to upgrade my system. I went to System Preferences under the Apple Menu and then chose Software Update. I have a phone connection and so the update took over an hour. However, now iTunes recognizes the burner and it works great! This is a great buy and the best price I found. Using the program Toast is easy to burn pictures and songs from CDs I already own. I highly recommend it!!

Good performace, Reasonably priced........2004-08-13

After being a computer use for decades my recommendation is: Don't buy expensive external peripherials,(unless of course, you absolutely need it). An external peripherial's usb or firewire interface is prone to failure, and in most cases replacing the interface means replacing the entire chasis, wich could cost close to the drive's price. And worst of all, in time (say 6 months) the drive will become obsolete and your computer peripherial graveyard will grow bigger. CPUs monitors and printers can expect longer lifetimes, but a peripherials life is like that of a fly. Go for lowest price, if it's good enough for your basic needs, go for it. This drive offers excelent performance at a reasonable price.

Solid Performance at an unbeatable price.

At the beginning of the year (2004), I acquired an iMac. I quickly found need for an additional optical drive as the primary DVD-R drive was constantly being used for DVD videos. I selected the the Lacie 52x32x52 for the following reasons:

-It had the fastest wright, rewright, read speeds on the market (at the time)
-Astoundingly low price
-Low profile design

I am pleased to say that the product has performed well. My first job for the drive involved converting over my music library to iTunes. On average each CD took about 3 minutes to upload (a speed that no doubt would be faster had I not asked iTunes to compensate for damaged disks). Nearly 1000 CD's later the drive still functions as it did when it was brand new.

My favorite aspects of this drive have been:

- Solid and light casing
- Fast disk access speed
- Predictable performance
- Hardware on/off switch on the back
- Stack-ability

On the down side:

- The drive can be very loud (although, this seems largely to be hinged upon the disc inserted. Even the whisper quiet DVD-R drive in the iMac can be voluble with the right disc.)
- There is a flimsy plastic bezel on the front of the drive which service to mask the headphone jack, volume control, disk access light, and tray open button. The drive does have an aesthetic quality when the bezel is closed, but other than that its presence is not logical.
- The drive tray has an extremely light tough; giving the mechanical elements a sense of fragility.

Ultimately none of the down sides outweigh the benefits of the product. Price, performance, and a competent aesthetic make this a worthy purchase.

Good sound quality but lousy electronics quality.......2005-06-26

I must say that this system is loud, and clear. But, I had to send mine back 2 times. First the cd player stopped working after 6 hours. It wouldn't even spit them out or anything. Then the second one had a problem with the amplifier and would only put sound out to one side.(yes I switched the wires to confirm it was the amp) After all that trouble the system is very slow and must be given ample time (10 sec) to complete any task thrown at it (changing a song). Like I said good sound but lousy electronics quality.

BOOM!.......2003-02-23

i got the hx-z1 for christmas and was impressed by the sound but i needed more, so i returned it and got the hx-z3 and it kicks butt! the bass on this thing blows the hx-z1 bass away, much deeper, WAY LOUDER, and a heck of a lot more thump, believ me this thing has WAY more bass. the sound is clearer then the Z1 and stays clear at high volumes, and all around is alot louder. i found that the Z1 model was kinda missing some midrange tones, there presence wasnt as clear as they are in the Z3. the Mp3 feature is great for us who burn our own cds. the style of this systems is awsome, the speakers look sweet and performe amazingly. after owning the Z1 model for a month and the Z3 model for nearly a month now, i have to say that if your thinking about purchasing the Z1 to wait. the extra time it takes you to save the extra 100$ or so will be well worth it. I have listened to the Jvc GT90 ( the best giga-tube model )at my local future shop various times and the bass on this is equaly as impressive. The use the exact same Subs but its a little less deeper however is much more acurate then the GT90. this system is definalty worth every penny you spend. I have listened to this system hooked up to my dvd player while watching a movie and the bass rumbles the whole house during explosions, its especialy great in war movies when a helicopter flyes over head and you can feel it as well as hear it. for its price, this systems is better then most if not any home theater in the price range, its doesnt have surround sound, but the bass is so powerfull and the mids and highs are so clear and full that its just amazing. i give this system my highest recomendation and sudgest it to anyone.

Excellent sound quality.......2002-11-21

I compared several systems, and by far this one blows all others away. Sony, Aiwa, Panasonic,and Phillips just don't compare. Nothing seems to have the sound quality as the Z3 system. The bass is incredible, and the mids and highs are impressive as well. The Z1 model is exactly the same, but a little less power and thump. If you want extreme bass and almost unlimited volume you have to go with the Z3 model. All types of music sound good whether it is rap, rock, pop you name it. You can't go wrong with this one.

Best stereo ever!!!!.......2002-08-06

I just got this stereo last week and it is amazing. The sound quality is top notch and extremely clear. The bass is really awsome. It rumbles my whole house! It was so loud my mom continued to look outside to see what it was. I have it hooked up to my xbox and tv. Trust me you hann't heard anything until you play Halo with this thing! For the price nothing compares. I have been looking at home theaters, but when I cranked up the system with many other home theaters in the room this blew them all away. If you want a shelf system with great sound and rumbling bass look no further.
