The product did not come with cables or software as noted and it didn't work until I had it fixed. Be careful what you buy used.

Mac User? Don't buy........2005-12-28

I've had this remarkable piece of garbage for about two years, and it has never once worked for my Mac. I've contacted Iomega several times, asking them why their CD-RW drive is billed as being "Mac Compatible," and yet is not compatible with any actual software except that provided by Iomega. They informed me that it was Apple's responsibility to write drivers for the Iomega hardware... Funny, I was under the opposite impression. Apple was also under the opposite impression when I contacted them.
Therefore, I have what is, essentially, a worthless piece of equipment that I cannot return. (Thanks mail-order.)
I can burn CDs, but rather than the elegance of iTunes, I am forced to use Iomega's program, which requires me to individually convert every mp3 into a .WAV file, and then burn the CD. This is time consuming and also remarkably inefficient.
So, Iomega: I will never again purchase a piece of your equipment. Thank you for horrible tech support and misleading advertising.

The best for your money.......2004-03-31

This is an excellent investment, since it's not that expensive and it really allows for fast downloading and CD writing. It's especially best with laptops. I have used it with my PC computer and laptop and it has worked great. I don't know about the MAC specifics,but I know a lot of stuff doesn't ever work with MAC because they are completely unique. Iomega is a great brand, and this product comes with a great guarantee. (Mac users should just return it.) I have made literally as many as 50 CDs a day, and you can probably make a CD in less than 5 minutes with this machine. I love it and recommend it.

Mac users beware.......2004-01-10

I totally agree with the previous reviewer... If you are a Mac user steer clear of this drive. The software provided with the drive (HotBurn) is a dog and only compatible with OS 9.1 or less. Iomega is offering and alternative, but it's an additional $30 and still the drive will not be compatible with some Mac features such as itunes. Before buying a CD-RW for a Mac take the time to check http://www.apple.com/macosx/upgrade/storage.html to find a compitible drive. I didn't and now I've got a $150 paperweight.

Don't bother if you use a Mac.......2002-11-04

My wife got me one of these for my birthday, and all I was able to burn with this was coasters. It's probably not the drive itself, as my iMac was able to recognize it. The HotBurn software bundled with it is only supported up to MacOS 9.1, and I use 9.2.2, which came out about 2 years ago!

Works Fine.......2003-01-16

This RW is okay. I began recording CDs within minutes (after the setup).... the only problem is the size of the external drive is quite large considering they don't have to be this large anymore. This is 3 or 4 times the size of a portable CD player. Also, the software installation takes quite a long time, but nothing went wrong.

Cheap...Better than other products.......2006-03-08

I was searching for "external cd burners" and for some reason i saw this cheap "external" cd burner...i was scare because it says that is for burn data and back up your computer...well i receive it today and i just start burning MP3's and Music cd's...it burn a complete regular cd for 4 min...is awesome...i just bought it for my laptop...and well done by paloroid.

If you go to the polaroid web site...you WONT find it because thid cd burner was made by 2002...and i think they only got fews...thats why is so cheap...get it...but make sure that you are getting this one...not the 24x...is 3 dollars cheaper...but this one is faster...AWESOME

Very Satisfied.......2007-01-30

I'm very satisfied since I bought this monitor.

The reviewer was correct when he pointed out that it does make it a little darker around the top and bottom edges; however I never noticed it until he said this! And I've never had any problems with the springs.

Overall, it shows great, setup is a snap, and personally, I love the design. I think its very sophisticated and modern.

Not Good Enough, LG.......2006-04-15

Screenwise, I have very few complaints about this monitor. It puts out a decent Photoshop usable color/contrast/etc and has a nice wide viewing agle left to right. If I could, I would rate this 3.5 stars.

Top-to-bottom viewing angle is less forgiving. Because this is not a wide screen, it stretches pretty far top to bottom. Unless placed far away (who has the space?), the bottom of the screen (where OS icons are) can go dark when the top is pointed perfectly at your eyes, and vice versa. To be fair, I don't think any other brand has solved this problem.

LG has tried to make this monitor into something of a swiss army knife. It pivots 90 degrees for portrait viewing (nice) and also does this while on the desktop or mounted to the wall. What is unforgiveable is how poorly it performs its most basic orientation--horizontally on the desktop. The screen is cantilevered forward, but the springs are too weak to hold it up, so one or twice a week it sags and drops down to its lowest position. And this is not user tightenable.

Furthermore, LG decided to endow this monitor with a massive, horsey logo the size of a hubcap on the back. Fortunately mine is against the wall. And the iMac white back with black front and chrome donut base comes out looking like schizophrenic design.

LG, in this age where consumers are spoiled by good design, you have to do better than this!
