This product was just as I expected it to be. It was easy to set up, and it works exactly like I thought it would. All in all, I believe it was worth the price I paid for it. It works fine, and is very useful for backing up data on my iMac. The fast firewire interface allows me to transfer data to and from this product with great ease and speed. That same speed also makes it a breeze to review files stored on this drive. All in all, I believe this product is a great buy, especially for people who need a fast, reliable drive for backing up their data.

I bought this drive over 3 months ago. It is fast, silent and reliable. But the most demanding test for me is portability. I pack it in my bag every morning and night, move it between my office, home office, client presentations, not to mention plane... Read more > trips and weekend trips. I give it a genuine endurance test. The G drive is small and light enough to carry everyday, and best of all, sturdy. No failings, no glitches. Just fast, silent, reliable performance. OK. pleased so far.......2006-03-13

I've owned a LaCie firewire for about a year now and I've never had any major problems with it. If you improperly eject a firewire you can have issues though-- but many firewire will do the same. I blame the previous comments on the iMac not jus the LaCie drive. I work with many people who talk pooly of the iMacs and all their bugs. I have had a few instances when I improperly ejected the drive and it didn't show up on my desktop-- but I slapped it around (literally), restarted my computer and waited a few hours and everything was OK. But yeah its not the greatest drive- looks pretty slick though.

Great for home audio recording.......2006-03-12

I have a small Pro Tools audio recording set up at home, and was looking for a hard drive that I could use to store my audio files. I have heard that Pro Tools does not like to use the same hard drive to run the software and access audio files.

After much research, I found that there are many companies building hard drives specifically for this purpose - but they cost at least double the price of a standard drive. Even LaCie has a drive that they market for this purpose. I kept looking at the specifications of these "audio drives" and comparing them with other, standard, drives. I found this Porsche designed LaCie drive, and it had all the same technical specifications as the others. I even called LaCie Tech Support to get thier opinion. The guy on the phone could come up with nothing more than "well, the other one has a heavier metal case." Given that, I bought this drive for half the price of the others.

So far the drive has worked wonderfully (it's been a couple of months). I have my audio recording software on my Mac's hard drive, and use this drive to access the actual audio files. Both drives are running simultaneously while I work, and I've had no problems at all. I couldn't tell you how well this would work out if I was in a full production studio, using the equipment 10 hours a day, but for a couple of hours a day 4-5 days a week it's been great.

I use the desktop hard drive as a back-up for my Apple system. It works dependably and fast. I'm very happy with its performance. Since I use it as a back-up device I do not leave it connected to my computer. It is easy to connect when I need it and disconnect when I'm done.

JVC's MX-J900 packs quite a wallop for a midi-sized compact system. One of the new "biamplified" minis, a 150-watt two-channel amplifier powers the system's two 7.88-inch side-firing "subwoofers, " while a separate 50-watt two-channel amp powers the remainder of the system's drivers, including a pair of woofers, a pair of midranges and a pair of dome tweeters. On the source front, the MX-J900 is armed with a 3-tray CD changer (i.e., it has three separate single-disc trays, instead of the more common carousel-style changer design). The dual-well cassette deck features full-logic controls and dual-well auto-reverse. A digital AM/FM tuner with 45 station presets completes the sources hat trick. Sound controls are found on what JVC calls the Powered Rolling Panel, which rotates down from the unit's front panel when it's powered up. The controls include a graphic equalizer with three preset and three custom settings, Extended Super Bass (bass boost), an eight-step separate subwoofer volume control, and Hyper Surround simulated surround sound, which produces surround-like effects from the system's two speakers. A digital optical output lets you use this system as a source when making digital recordings with an external MiniDisc or CD-R/RW recorder.

This system is for all u serious bass heads out there! Put a bass cd in one of the 3 trays, and you're ready to bump! (you don't even really need a bass cd, the mxj900 will pump at whatever you throw at it) Though, i caution u to NOT put your ear up to the sub port, i guarantee it will damage your hearing. (those subs move some serious air!!)(not joking around) If your thinking, "those 8" subs couldn't pump that much" well.....your off by a long shot. they sound like 12"s or even 15"s, and go extremely low w/o bottoming out!! i'm not an expert, but i do know a heck of a lot more than the average person about subs and amps, and i will not be kidding when i tell u that u will not waste a penny if u purchase this puppy. So add it to your cart, and "Happy Bumping!"

Unbeliveable.......2000-11-24

This is an unbeliveable system. 400 watts of raw power never sounded so good. The bass on this thing can be felt on my thrid floor, and the system is in the basement. The setup is simple, outta the box its ready, and you pick up how you us it in 1 hour. If you ever want to get a sound system, this is the one. I've owned everything from a 9 speaker set up to a simple two one, and this beats them all, by far the best for its price. The remote is full functional and is great. The system is defiently a mini-system if it can fit this much power in such a small unit. If you already love a song, you'll love it more comming out of these speakers. The bass is there in full. And the sound modes are koo. The Compu Play feater is nice, i just hit CD and the CD starts, no more pressing power and Cd and play any more. One button does it all. And this systme does it all. This system defently ROCKS THE HOUSE.
