A first-rate film camera.......2007-07-03

In this day and age of digital SLR cameras people sometimes seem to forget the joy of using film...you know, that thing that comes in a small metal canister that you load in the back of your camera! Even Nikon, that long established giant of the photography world has stopped making film cameras.

Well for those who still appreciate the joy of film, this camera is perhaps one of the best film SLRs ever made. Over my lifetime, I've owned a number of different film cameras from both Minolta and Canon, I even owned a 35mm Mamiya Sekor (for the under 40 crowd, you can look this camera up in Google or Yahoo) and I can safely state that this camera is a top performer in every possible way.

There are enough functions, both automatic and manual, to unleash the creative genius now lurking inside you. The camera's controls are laid out in an intuitive manner, so your fingers always seem to automatically find the right buttons to push. In spite of the fact that this camera has many functions, the user is not overwhelmed by all of the electronic wizardy. A beginner photog will feel right at home with this camera after shooting a couple of rolls of film. A more advanced photog will be able to use this camera's features to enhance and expand his/her creative potential.

The camera itself is well-built. It has a solid feel to it, there are no cheap parts to it. Plastic use is confined to a minimun and where plastic is used, it is of the highest possible quality. I once dropped this camera and it was not even dinged! Everything fits tight and works well. I've owned this camera for several years and after shooting countless rolls of film (and dropping it once) it still works and feels the way it did the day I took it out of its box.

If you buy this camera, also look into getting the accesory battery grip (BP-300). It makes it easier to hold the camera when using long tele lenses, makes it easier to take vertical shots and it allows the user to use AA batteries or the standard lithium batteries. [...].

This review is for the Elan 7 camera. Canon followed the 7 model with the 7E, then the 7N and finally the 7NE. The "E" designates cameras with the automatic focusing feature. You look into the viewfinder and the camera automatically focus on the section of the scene that your eye is looking at. This feature does not work very well for eyeglass users, so I chose the standard Elan 7 model. The "N" designates a newer version of the Elan 7. The improvements are nice, but they do not add significantly to the overall quality and features of the standard Elan 7 model. I would rather get the standard 7 model and invest the savings on a good lens.

Get this camera before they are all gone. You will not be sorry.

Digital is nice but film will never die!

If I speak too softly my voice isn't picked up at all. In turn I have to repeat myself all the time. I recently picked up a Jabra retractable. It's not quite as cool looking, but it works WAY better and it's smaller.

The majority of the Logitech earbud headsets failed. I gave two sealed packages from the sender to friends to test and both of them failed; completely died.
The price of less than $3 possibly indicated there was something wrong, but the sender should have indicated that in the description.

It's pretty hard to screw up a thing as simple as an ethrnet cable. I guess any ethernet cable would do, but this has been perfect so far.

I guess there isn't much to say about Ethernet cables. This is a straight-through Ethernet cable to connect your PC to a hub (e.g., cable modem or LAN router). It feels solid, and I imagine I'll get years of service out of it.

This will protect your screen from a lot of oily prints on it once you close your Powerbook. I didn't think I would need it but after a week I started to see the problem. The keys aren't recessed like the MacBooks are. So every time I close my Powerbook I uses this cover.

Well I thought it would protect my screen.......2006-10-20

Sure it keeps keystains from occurring (brought about from oils from your fingers transferring to the screen)but now I have permanent blotches on my display because something got spilled on the Marware pad at some point. Myself and the Apple store "genius" deduced this, as the staining is external, and not internal.

Marware could avoid this problem by making the pad a lighter color (so that you can see if it got wet or coffee'd) and/or putting some sort of teflon coating onto the surface. Right now the pads are a very neutral gray color that hides any trace of liquid.

In the meantime, I have a 3 month old MacBook Pro with a blotchy screen. I paid an obscene amount for this machine, only to have the screen all but ruined by a $10 piece of wetsuit material (what this pad apears to be made from)

I've seen expensive laptop screens marred by natural oils from fingers that get on to the keyboard and then on to the screen. This is a great way to save your laptop, especially when traveling!
They are three dollars cheaper when you buy directly from Marware's site plus they don't charge for shipping in most states. I bought three for under $30.00.

Need I say anymore.........actually I do....

Please dont waste money (more importantly, possibly your life's worth of digital files) on this piece of joke. The poorest quality drives, the most unprofessional customer no service. Down right, unethical company.

The drive failed on Day 1 from the store and was returned to WD after obtaining a RMA number. You can get the RMA number only with a proper WD serial number. After numerous emails, I finally got a response saying that, the drive i sent them was not a WD drive??(this bait and switch is quit common for warranties) Apparently WD is using this tactic and others to deny any customer any kind of warranty claims. I have copies of all the emails and online RMA submissions. I also took a copy of the face of drive (to guard against such a switch-aroo) before sending in. If you have any such problems, please do take a copy or high resolution digital picture of the drive/box before sending it in. I see a class action suite coming....

Very easy install........2007-05-05

I have a medium amount of experience doing hardware and software upgrades to a PC. This was the easiest "slave" hard drive I've installed yet. After the physical install there was a couple of minutes of configuration and that was it. The documentation was more than adequate.

Big, ULTRA-FAST, and EASIEST TO SET UP EVER!.......2007-02-20

This was the easiest hard drive I had to set up. It is so fast, I boot into windows XP Pro in less than 7 seconds. Its also big, and it successfully allowed me to copy everything from my old hard drive to the new one. And after I did that, I booted up normally with the new hard drive, with NO PROBLEM AT ALL!

It arrived promptly. I use it as a second harddrive. Windows would not recognise it until I used Partition Magic to delete the partition and creat new partitions with Windows OS. It now works fine.
