It is slightly different than the EOS Elan II in that it features eye-controlled focus. This model features an LCD screen showing exposure information and LED readouts showing custom functions. The viewfinder provides all the information you need to set up your shots, including depth of field, flash, shutter speed and aperture, and much more. The film is rewound automatically at the end of the roll, or after 36 exposures with a midroll rewind option. The Canon EOS Elan IIe uses any Canon EF lens. This camera is hands-down the best 35mm camera for its time. The eye control feature allows you to pin point the subject no matter what the background. For entry-level use, there is a simple center focus that will allow even the least experienced user to take great pictures.
As with all cameras, film matters. Use the lowest speed possible and try to match the film with the development process.
For baby shots, the red eye reduction works better than any previous camera I owned.
A Great Camera to Grow With.......2001-03-13
I've had my Elan IIe for a year now. It has traveled all over the US providing me and my family with great pictures of our adventures. With other AF SLRs, I used to be happy if a roll of film delivered just one or two really good shots --now I get one great picture after another whenever the full autofocus is used.
I have to admit, I am still learning all of the manual functions... but that is what's so terrific about this camera; its user can move into and out of manual and autofocus controls while learning how to operate the Elan IIe.
The personalized eye-focus option is perfect for families who like to take turns getting behind the camera. I have mine calibrated for use with contacts in or glasses on -and it takes great shots either way.
It is a tough camera that performs well in all kinds of inclement weather and conditions (try a rocking sailboat in the rain photographing breaching humpback whales from several hundred feet! --and still I got some great shots).
I agree with other reviewers, however, that the only real downside to this camera is the lack of focusing points in manual focus mode. I have learned to autofocus and then fine tune in manual --but that doesn't work very well for fast-moving subjects. Also, its autofocus is limiting for extreme close-up subjects. If the user doesn't have a good idea about manual settings (or the desire to even try them)-the sole use of autofocus will limit your picture taking.
This is a great camera for anyone who wants to jump to the next level and break away from the confines of a full-time auto controlled SLR.

I've owned a Canon EOS Elan IIe for over two years now. In general I've been pleased with it, but there's definitely room for improvement. Things I like: the body is lightweight, the controls are easy to use, and there are some great automatic settings that make it easy to take good shots in a variety of conditions (action shots, scenery, portraits, etc.). Also nothing has broken or malfunctioned, which is saying a lot because my camera has been through consistently rough treatment - it gets thrown in a backpack and knocked around quite a bit.
The primary thing that gives me trouble is focusing. The auto-focus usually works OK - the view has three small boxes in it, and the camera senses which box you're looking at and automatically focuses on whatever is in that box. In most cases, that's great. But sometimes the auto-focus screws up. When I take a picture of my dog, for instance, it will focus on the tip of his nose instead of his eyes. So sometimes I override the auto-focus, but the manual focus is difficult to use because there's no split-circle indicator to show you when something is in perfect focus.
Other than that, I've been very pleased with the EOS, and I'd recommend it to someone who wants a powerful, easy-to-use camera that gives you a lot of flexibility.
Great buy - Amazing Pictures.......2000-12-04
The Canon EOS Elan IIe offers something for everyone - from the expert to the beginner. It can be completely automatic, point-and-shoot, or you can make it completely manual or any combination in between. Canon has adjusted some of its dials from previous Elans to make it easier to make adjustments without looking at the top of the camera - very helpful when you're looking at a subject through the view.
One thing that sets the Elan IIe from other camera is its eye control focus system. Three boxes are in the view finder. Look at any one of those boxes, the Elan flashes red, and the camera focuses on that spot. Look in between two of the boxes, and you focus the camera on whatever is between them. While this sounds very high-tech, its incredibly easy to use, works with glasses, and has pre-sets for up to three people since the the camera "learns" more about its user the more the person uses the system. I found this to be incredibly accurate and easy to use. It's useful when your framing a picture with the subject off center.
The camera takes amazing pictures...I mean amazing. It's a great camera for a family - the beginner can use the point and shoot mode, and the family photographer can use all the manual configurations. It can be as simple or complex as you'd like with all the functionality and flexinbility you'll need.
The best buy on the market!.......2000-11-30
This camera is the best value on the market. However, buy somewhere else, you can find it much cheaper if you look around, especially with the launch of the 7e. Try the big New York camera stores. I own and use this camera, I bought it on the advice of a professional photographer. You may also want to consider the all new Elan 7e, but I honestly do not know enough about it to tell you to buy it, and it is more expensive. If you are considering a less expensive camera do not cheat yourself, a hundred dollars will make a world of difference.

Steer clear.......2004-12-23
Got this player as a gift a year ago. I've had freezing problems with this player, sometimes from slightly scratched rental DVDs (which play fine in any other player), and the whole unit locks up (sometimes with garbage displayed on the LED display). When this happens you need to pull the plug, as the power button both on the remote and on the unit itself becomes nonresponsive. Have also had some problems navigating the menus on some discs ("From Hell" comes to mind.) This player also has problems playing DVD-R discs -- I have had it play RITEKG04 discs fine but sometimes it will freeze or pixellate during playback of DVD-R. Had no luck at all with cheaper Princo or BeAll blanks. Haven't tried DVD+R, it may work better. If you want to use this player as an audio CD player, note that it doesn't play CD-R at all.

Is this a disposable DVD Player? I used it 5 times and the dvd started skipping. The 6th time it was nonfunctional. Maybe this was Oritron's, "one use and throw it away model." Forget the one star this should be zero stars. It should be called Orbit-ron because after a week you will want to throw it into the orbit.

I have used this DVD player maybe 15 times, and now it does not play DVDs. I received this as a gift, so luckily I did not pay for it. This is by far the worst piece of electronic equipment ever.

I got this DVD player for a gift. I played 3 movies on it. The picture quality was poor, the directions to use it were poor, and now it doesn't work at all! It won't even open to put a DVD in it. This DVD Player is a real junk, don't buy anything with this name on it!

This is a good DVD player. It has everything you need, at a price you can't beat. It's such a good buy. It's easy to set up and easy to use. A great first DVD player for anyone who is thinking of getting a DVD player. I wouldn't use it on my HDTV home theater, but if you just want something simple that looks good, this is the one. It has good sound and picture for the price. Haven't had any problems with it, what can I say I love it. It was cool.

Absolute Garbage.......2007-06-21
I purchased this product looking for a cheap small wireless network adapter. Well, after a few months, the little place where you can position the adapter at different angles lost traction so it would just hang there. After another few months, it stopped working completely.(Note: These effects arose from nothing, the network adapter was left alone mounted on the wall the whole time, never really touched or moved.) I called Linksys support and they agreed to replace the unit, but this was after several calls being redirected and most of them being disconnected and having me calling back.(Warning, Costumer support woes.) Also, after calling back or them telling me to call a different department, the reference number they gave me seemed to be incorrect, having me to tell them over and over again what the issue was and steps that I've done before to fix it. Finally after more than 2 hours to get the unit replaced, It was arranged. When I received the unit It seemed to work fine, and after a while (but in a shorter period of time) the traction on the neck of the adapter was completely gone and whenever I download something, say 20MB, it will go out, just stop completely and lose connection dissconnecting me from the internet which requires me to unplug the adapter and re-plug it back it.
Although it seemed good for the moment, it turned in to a complete piece of garbage. I'm horribly dissatisfied.

Works with OpenSUSE 10.2 Linux.......2007-01-25
After trying without success to get my Linksys wireless PCI card to connect with SuSE 10.2 Linux (Linksys won't write drivers for Linux, only WinDOZE) on the odd chance it might work, I plugged this USB wireless into an empty slot, and was quite pleased to be able to use it under Linux. That means my 8 and 10 year old children who prefer Linux to WinDOZE can now have internet and wireless network connections. I wrote to Linksys asking why they won't support an O/S that millions of folks use, but did not get any reply.
If you use this for Linux, configure the card using NetworkManager. I'm using it on WEP Open System. I put in either Passphrase or hex strings and it works well. I can't get any speed readouts but if it works that's good enough as I only have 1MB/sec DSL service.
I'm using the Linksys wireless router with speedbooster for the access point.

Nice-ish headphones, lots of bass response, especially compared to entry-level consumer headphones (say, sony's $30 "studio monitor style" setup). I bought these to replace a pair of HD-202s when the cord broke off from being jerked too many times. That probably won't be happening here, though, because these have little jacks at the bottom of each phone, and they disconnect rather than breaking. They sound about the same as the 202s did, they weigh a little more, but they're comfortable and a good buy at $40.

I normally don't write reviews for things, but since the previous reviews gave me a somewhat jaded view towards these headphones before I bought them (yeah, I bought them anyways) I decided my imput would be helpful.
I bought these for the bass emphasis and while other reviewers have said the bass is a bit over-powering, I don't think so at all.
It is a bit louder than normal, but the treble is slightly emphasized as well, so the sound ends up being quite balanced. Even if it were too much for someone, that's what equalizers are for. (People who really appreciate music should know how to use them and I'm assuming that's who is buying these headphones in the first place.)
Aside from that, I'm writing this upon my first night of listening, and while I expected them to need some sort of breaking in, they are fine as they are and can probably only get better.
They are really comfortable on my ears and the super long cord gives me ample space to move around and do other things while I'm listening, as opposed to being confined to sitting with my laptop. (You can actually keep the twist-tie on if you don't want all the extra cord flailing about.)
My only complaint is that they are a bit tight on my head, but I'm hoping they'll eventually conform to my shape.

I have been a Dj for a almost 5 years, and this are the best headphones I've ever had. The H250 headphones are light, confortable, and great acustic properties. It is true that the bass is a little loud, but thats exactly what you need if you're playing in loud and crowded clubs.
Extra Bass may not be for everyone.......2006-04-03
I got a great deal on these headphones and use them frequently. They are very comfortable for long use. I often listen to them for four hour periods so I need this.
However, I find the sound quality to be slightly non-linear. Don't get me wrong they are articulate and don't exhibit the usual boxy or honky sound of closed headphones but they do have tooo much bass for my taste. They also can lead to listening fatigue if you have any bass driven music due to the fact that they have a lot of punch. The sound isolation is mediocre at best. It seems that they are better suited for preventing others from hearing your music rather than isolating you from the environment.

Get these if you like bass and are in need of a closed set of cans. Otherwise go with the much more linear and better sound stage of the eh350's at nearly the same price.

Also note these cans do need to break in. At first the bass may seem a bit muddy but after several hours of usage they become quite accurate. Also of note is that I found no midrange deficiencies as suggested from another reviewer. But everyone's ears are different.
A slow burner.......2006-02-03
The first thing I'll say is that these headphones need a lot of breaking in - more than the 10 hours mentioned in the previous review. I've been using them for over a month now and finally they're sounding sweet. It was the same story with some other Sennheisers I had a few years ago - they really take their time to settle down.
The bass is very overpowering in this model. Before they've loosened up the bass also sounds horribly muddy. I use these for listening to MP3's and playing games on my PC (using an X-Fi XtremeMusic soundcard) and even now they've broken in I still have the bass level set to just 12% - any higher and things get too boomy for me.
Due to the close-backed design they cut out a lot of ambient noise (great for DJ-ing) and they also stop noise escaping from the headphones as well - this is great for me as I can have them up super loud without the wife moaning :) On the downside, after extended listening they're a bit hard on your ears. If comfort in a big priority then look elsewhere.
Now they've broken in and I've found the best settings in my software I love these headphones. I really can't agree with the previous review regarding the midrange - they sound spot-on to me, and I've used a lot of pretty high-end audio kit in the past.
Due to the punchy bass and dynamic sound they're also excellent for movies and games.
They're also nicely made, very light, and have a pretty long cord.
In conclusion: It took a while to fall in love with these headphones, but after a month of heavy use and experimenting with the audio settings I've finally got there. I would advise caution due to the meaty bass, long breaking-in time and discomfort during long sessions. But if the sound characteristics seem like what you're after, and you're willing to give them a chance, you'll be rewarded with a fantastic and exciting audio experience.
