Good little printer..........2007-08-24
This printer came free with a digital camera I purchased from Amazon, and I have not been disappointed with the printer.
The printer came with everything I needed in the box to connect it to the computer, and it came with ink and software as well.
It prints about average speed, and has various print quality settings to choose from when printing photos.
For text, I have a B&W laser printer, but I kept this one for the occasional color document and for photos.
If I were looking for a photo printer, this one would not be my main choice, but it does a decent job for the occasional family photos.
The picture quality on photos is enough for my uses, but it is not quite as good as a more expensive printer would give, but good enough for framing a picture of our son to give grandpa, etc.
I enjoy the fact that you can plug a memory card directly into the printer to print pictures.
Overall, I am happy with the printer, especially since it was free for me!
Below average.......2007-08-16
As everyone else is reporting, this printer is pretty expensive to maintain- the printer cartridges combined cost about $60 and that lasts me approximately 2-3 months. I print only a few pages a day, typically only in fast-draft. I heard about Walgreen's new inkjet refilling that costs a fraction of buying a new cartridge, but of course these cartridges are excluded from most of the Canon's being able to be refilled. Finally, I have had my printer for 9 months and after about month 5, my photos are often printed with smears on the front and back of pictures (even after using the printer's neat tools to fix smearing problems). Consequently, I highly reccomend not purchasing this printer, even if it is a good deal- in the end, it's not cost-effective or worth your money at all.

Not a bad printer; I like the quality of print... but as said elsewhere, very expensive to maintain... Ink cartridges don't last long and are, as far as I can tell, more expensive.

Choose this over flash media.......2004-01-19
I bought this unit a year or so ago and it's given me no serious problems. The switch to open the player is a little flimsy -- a few times I've brushed against it while sitting in the car and it popped open, which is annoying, but I've also dropped the player a few times and it hasn't popped open, which is more important and something I can't say as much for my Sony. The display doesn't show ID3 tags but unless you have no idea what is on the CD you've made yourself, this shouldn't be too big of a problem.
As most previous reviewers noted, the Hold/Resume button doesn't allow you to do both at once and furthermore the Resume option doesn't actually work. I find that with a little file/folder organization, it's easy to find the song I left off at without needing the Resume button, and as for the options being mutually exclusive, if I want to use the Hold option, it's usually because I'm going to be travelling for a long enough time that resuming exactly where I left off is not vastly important. But that's just my take.
If you're considering a flash or hard drive MP3 player, get an MP3/CD player instead. High capacity flash players are expensive whereas CD-Rs easily carry 700MB, and an erasable CD-RW acts pretty much like a mini hard drive. I have little faith in hard drives, as the one in my laptop failed after a year. But what REALLY did it for me is that you can't play a conventional CD on a flash or hard drive MP3 player. What if you're on a short trip and buy a CD? In order to listen you'd either have to a laptop or a CD player in addition to the MP3 player. With an MP3/CD player, this isn't an issue -- it's so convenient it's beautiful.
So save yourself the trouble and get an MP3/CD player! It's convenient and this one is particularly good!

If you are tired of skipping cd's or not reading cds/cdrs, this is for you! I've even dropped it without skipping -- first cd player I've seen that is this solid... thus the five stars. Works with AC adapter or 2 AA batteries -- and they last...
My only negative is that MP3 filenames are not displayed BUT you can use directories to organize your files... random play feature too. Excellent value for the money.

O.K., The sounds quality is great and I'm impressed with the startup time of the mp3 files but the lack of ID3 tags is very annoying. Also, a resume would be VERY useful to me, but i guess with a little memorization it wont be a problem.

Easy to control an learn.
Size is ok.
Batteries life can last 10+ hours by using two 1600mah rechargeable batteries.
Anti-shock improved (I hate EXP201, what a junk of the anti-skip system, cannot walk fluently) EXP301 is better, you can carry it do little jogging, no problem on walking.
Con:
The price is high, compares to EXP201. With this price I can add $$ get a Sony D-cj01 or TDK mojo or others have IDs tags.
As above no ID tags and back-light.
Annoying resume and hold button.
Now I own a HD player archos 10 jukebox, which is good. but too expensive. Thinking about returning.
