Superb Camera........2007-09-01

This is one excellent camera. Takes great pictures and the Image Stabilization feature is wonderful. This is my 5th Digital Camera (I was an early adopter), and 4 of them have been Canons. I switched to Sony once and was very unhappy and am glad I switched back.

The zoom is kind of less powerful, but the wide angle on this bad boy is great. You can't go wrong with this product.

Very nice until Gone.......2007-08-28

I only had this camera for about 3 weeks before it was stolen from me at the beach. It however took very nice pictures, was simple to use, and compact. The only thing that I didn't like about the camera was the exterior syling of it. I likeed the box shape of the older ones better. But it was a good camera, probably upgrade to the 800IS when I get ready again. Wider angle for group photos.

Great Compact.......2007-08-23

I have had this camera for nearly a year and I have nothing but good things to say about it. The battery life is very strong, the focus is generally sharp, and the zoom is excellent.

I originally bought the camera because of the fast start-up and picture-to-picture time, and I haven't been disappointed. I was frustrated that my HP took so long to start up. By the time that I was ready to shoot the moment had passed. Not so with the SD700. The IS tech also seems top notch to me. I'm not a very good photographer, but my photos look a good deal better now.

Also, the low light capability of this camera is great. While searching for houses I would take pictures underneath the houses to look for damage and the camera would always show me much more than I could see with my naked eye.

I highly recommend it, but shop around for a good price.

Great camera, great photos.......2007-08-17

We have bought two of these cameras, one for us about a year ago, and liked it so much that we bought one for our daughter this past June. We also bought an underwater housing for reef photography. We chose Canon because our prior camera was also a digital Elph (circa 2002) and worked great until the CF door broke off.

Elphs take very good photos, are easy to use and sturdily built. This one has a very large screen and an eyepiece (which I prefer), reasonably simple menus and easy access to some basic settings (e.g., flash on manual, off or auto; erase photo or card) that we use often. The only concern is that the little doors for the battery and cable connection seem flimsy and easy to break. They have survived so far, but we are careful with them. Other than that, just stick it in your pocket or purse and it'll always be ready to go. Battery life is excellent and theh charger very compact.

I store and process my photos with both iPhoto and Photoshop. I have printed quite a few 8 x 10s crom cropped photos with great success (any limitations are more the printer than the camera).

My daughter has used her SD 700 Elph for reef photgraphy with ease and success. The housing is very secure and well-designed. It could be used in any hostile environment -- sand, dust, rain, underwater.

I bought these to use at an event - the reception wouldn't carry across the building, and when it did work the quality of the sound was pretty poor.

Pretty Good Deal.......2001-10-23

I bought fifteen sets to use at our school. They've been knocked around and dropped and still work pretty good. Some of the units pick up a lot of static especially as the battery starts to run low. We still can't figure out all the features and the display. The displays are confusing and some of the features appear to be meaningless or possibly aren't working. The battery indicator doesn't seem to work consistently. Some of the transmit buttons are stubborn and have to be pressed HARD. One of the transmit buttons don't work at all. The belt clips pop off, (resulting in the unit hitting the floor) especially if you're fat and you bend over. Hah! Anyway, the bottom line is that for the cost, they've been serving their purpose.

Excellent Product for Price.......2001-07-28

This product has quite a number of things going for it. Firstly it's an excellent FRS radio with excellent range (have not been able to test the two mile range 'cause of my terrain), coupled with the headphone set it allows for ease of communication for a variety of purposes, I use it for security in-store as well and they work marvellously. Also, with the drop-in charger and rechargeable batteries the savings gained in the original great price is magnified 100X over a similar motorolla product, which does not even have battery rationing and is certaily not rechargeable! (these average 2AA batteries per day on continous use!) Ideal choice for the budget conscious shopper who wants a greater bang for the buck.

Good product for the money.......2001-06-23

These radios have worked well for us under most conditions- at the lake, in Mexico, and car to car. The nice part about them is the rechargeable batteries and the included charger. The sound quality and range has been within acceptable limits for us, and has surprised us on occasion when they have been loud and clear thru forested areas and over hills. They have been subjected to jolts on the jet ski and minimal amounts of waterspray without apparent damage. They hold a charge for a long weekend. Overall we have been satisfied with the performance of these radios and feel they provide good performance at a fair price. My only (minor) complaint is that I have to consult the owner's manual to understand some of the various functions as the lettering near the buttons and dials is small and difficult to read.

Falls far short of the mark.......2001-04-29

With twin boys of 11 and a 14 year old daughter, having this relatively inexpensive technology is certainly better than not having it. But I'm afraid that's the best I can say about these radios. I live in a typical residential neighborhood. Living just 8 blocks from the Atlantic Ocean I expected just "half" the advertised range of 2 miles, but disappointed I was. Less than 5 blocks down the road squelch covers the kids audio without 'any' adverse conditions. I purchased two sets (4) radios. The only reason why I don't return them is because I suspect the rated 2 miles is just a farce. They get a rating of 3 for the technology, but performance couldn't possibly rise above a 1. Sorry folks!

I narrowed down my search to this Panasonic and the Toshiba 27AF61. I chose the Panasonic because I found an excellent deal at a local merchant which made the price ... less than the Toshiba. I only have one major gripe about this tv in particular; the picture is significantly darker than the Toshiba. It's usually not a problem, but when you're watching a dimly lit scene, you lose a lot of the detail in the shadows. You can [turn] up the brightness to compensate, but then you get blacks that are grey. If you're going to spend the extra on a flat tv, it's most likely because you care about the picture. If that's the case, keep this review in mind and go for the Toshiba.

This extension cable allows a lot more freedom when using the Dreamcast system. It makes for better gameplay and can improve your ability while using the game. Greatness.......2004-04-03

I've figured out the problem with the camera not turning back on. I had the same problem, took it apart, and it didn't take long to realize what was going on. The battery connectors were VERY dirty and corroded with something. Clean them with a little rubbing alcohol on a q-tip and you're good to go. NOTE: You don't have to take it apart to do this, but I did to discover it.

I have had this camera for three years and have never had a picture worth printing. The pictures are always blurring, they are ruined by lighting from the outside. The photos are terrible!! Don't buy this camera. I am online now to find a new camera. This one was a waste of my money!!!

We have had this camera for a year and have yet to get it to work...even after calling tech support. Finally, after reading the reviews on this site I see that the problem is probably that we're running Windows XP.

Even if we could work around the software problem, the camera will not turn on any more...even after changing out the batteries.

I bought the ViviCam 20 and cannot use on my computer with Microsoft Windows XP. They tell me it could damage my computer now or in the future if I use it.

Great value, compact, good-looking.......2002-10-22

The first camera had a faulty lens -- distant objects were unacceptably blurred and focus was not even across the frame. Also the body was coming apart at the point where the wrist strap is attached. Focus on the replacement was much better, however that camera stopped working within hours.

Luckily the third unit provided by the store has worked perfectly for a month now and I am very happy with it.

Colour is always excellent and image quality is as good as you will find on a relatively inexpensive VGA resolution camera. There is none of the unpleasant artificial sharpening that I've seen on other 640x480 models.

Low-light performance is also a pleasant surprise (for a CMOS-based camera) with good results in bright indoor lighting. The built-in flash also works well under these conditions -- just filling in the shadows enough. Shadows start to 'block up' when light-levels are lower, but even these shots have a certain gritty charm.

The camera stores up to about 60 VGA images on the internal memory. The different settings for sunny, cloudy, indoor bright and indoor dark seem to have no effect on the resulting images whatsoever.

If you don't use the flash much, the batteries appear to last for ever. I've taken around 500 images so far (maybe 25 flash shots) and the two AA batteries that came with the camera are still going strong.

There is a macro facility that focuses at about 12 inches from the subject and the switch can also be placed in an 'onofficial' midway position to focus better at around 24 inches. Which is good for taking shots of yourself with the camera at arms length. However, when used as a streaming webcam it seems to slow down a p200 way too much.

The camera is too noisey. It bleeps when you take a shot and when selecting options, it bleeps each time you click past a different setting. On self-timer it bleeps a countdown which increases in speed -- about twenty bleeps by the time it actually takes the picture. This is quite funny but an embarrassment in some situations and makes the camera unusable in many public places.

The auto-shut off is a bit too fast. The problem is that this also resets all the settings. Which is annoying if you are preparing to take a self-timer shot or waiting for something to happen.

The tripod socket is a welcome extra. The camera has stylish good looks and is extremely compact. Transfer of images to PC is simple and fast using a USB cable.

Pictures look excellent if reduced down to about 400 pixels or under and sharpened slightly -- for use on a web page for example. This is the ideal snapshot camera for any web designer.

Despite its few minor faults you can't argue with the tremendous value for money and the overall quality from this camera. The build quality and reliability has been an issue for me, so if you get a unit that doesn't seem 'right' take it back to the shop and ask them to swap it...
