The 2.1x zoom (38 to 80 millimeters) provides a wide range of options in snapping your subject. The autofocus system uses 3 sensors to create a sharp and clear image, even when the subject is in motion or off-center. The 80u has several shooting modes such as automatic, action, night scene, portrait, and close-up mode.

Film loading, advance, and rewind are fully automatic for easy operation, and you can even rewind mid-roll as well. The flash can be set to automatic, fill, off, or red-eye reduction. Use the exposure compensation to help show subjects out in under or over lit situations. The 10-second self-timer is useful for self-portraits or group shots. You can also imprint the date onto your photos for record-keeping. I purcahsed this camera a year ago. I have been continuously disappointed in it. The picture quality is far from impressive. Its easy to use and thats about the best I can say about it.

my camera was great - although it was a little tricky to learn how to take spontaneous photos. but once i got the hang of it i loved it. unfortunately, it died literally just 3 days after the 1-year warranty ended. i sent it back to be repaired and was distressed when i got a reconditioned camera in return - a different model entirely - because a sticker said that my camera was 'unable to be repaired.' it was a shame that a camera that cost $90 only lasted a year and that canon can't repair its own products!! i loved my camera and wish it lasted longer!

Get a Nikon.......2004-03-23

Received this as a gift. Ran about 5 rolls of film through it. It took decent pictures. Nothing to write home about. Then the lcd stopped working. Canon fixed it under warranty quickly and with no problems. The camera frequently has trouble focusing on subjects. So...good customer support, but only so so operation and pictures.

Those with 32BG BIOS limitations will find this HDD perfect. No need to do a risky BIOS upgrade...and chances are you'll only need less than 30GB anyway if you're upgrading an older system. Maxtor does it again.

Bigger is not always better.......2000-05-11

I've had this television for almost 6 months now, and while I've enjoyed the large picture (the largest for a tube tv), I have one problem. There are horizontal lines of light and dark that scroll up the screen when watching DVD movies. I have used RCA cables, S-video, and a coaxial, and they all have the same problem. The problem is most obvious in the black bar areas above and below the picture in a widescreen movie. Panasonic boasts about the Panablack technology, but that is really the main drawback to this televsion. I don't know about the sound because I use home theatre sound, but the speakers are small to keep the set from being a monstrosity like the Sony Trinitron Wega. The other thing this set lacks is component video inputs. That would allow me to try one more option to get rid of those lines, but now that I've sunk over $1,000 into this set, I guess I can live with it.

Great picture for DVD, but bad sound quality.......2000-04-08

This set has great picture quality for DVD (with S-Video input). Butthe sound quality is quite bad. Too much echo even with surround sound turned off. No adjustment will cure the problem. I can bearly hear the newscaster reading because of echo. I am not picky on audio nor trying to build a home theater system. But this problem is going to make me to return it.

BEST MONEY I EVER SPENT.......1999-11-24

I spent weeks researching TVs and even cancelled my order for a Sony WEGA for this baby. And it was the best decision I ever made. The picture quality is unbeatable (unless you go to digital). The colors are rich and vibrant and the picture is so amazingly sharp that you can count Vanna White's eyelashes. And its so easy to use, even I could understand how to use the menus. You will NOT be disappointed.

Uncolored sound with very little noise........2005-09-20

This is a great preamp for the price. Small, rugged, looks good too. It comes with two channels, each one taking either XLR or 1/4" instrument inputs. The XLR is low impedance, the 1/4" is high impedance. Sound output is uncolored and quiet. Signal is strong and clear.

If you have a microphone with a 1/4" plug, switch to an XLR cord instead -- the low impedance on the XLR input means you'll get a much stronger and clearer signal. Plugging in a guitar works well except for noise from the cord and guitar itself which only shows up when using distortion effects via computer software. You can use a noise gate or notch filter between your guitar and the preamp if necessary, then follow up with a software noise gate to remove hiss. This is not necessary for just chorus, flanger, or reverb software effects...then the AudioBuddy is perfect. If you want distortion, just mic your guitar amp...place your mic three or four inches away and set the preamp gain.

Unfortunately, the supplied phantom power is only 41V instead of 48V so it might not work with some condenser microphones. That's why I'm giving it four stars instead of five. I haven't tried any condensers yet to know which ones work with the AudioBuddy and which do not. If you already have an external phantom power supply, then no need to worry.

My setup is a dynamic mic into preamp into 12" powerbook's line-in jack. You can do stereo recording this way with the proper cord, just a 3.5mm stero male to two 1/4" mono male. Recommended microphone would be anything between $60 and $100 such as the Shure SM57/SM58 or the cheaper condensers like Behringer B1 or MXL990 (although I have heard people using these condensers with the Audio Buddy, I haven't tried them yet myself...but will soon).

Overall I am happy with this preamp. It is more reliable than a tube preamp and has less noise as well.
