I am really suprised to see such negative comments on this camera.
I always got amazing quality photographs from this camera. It's very easy to use. It's not bulky. It was by far the best film camera I had ever owned.

When I went to a football game, I took photos of the game with the flash on. The photos came out too dark when you zoom in. So I decided to take photos WITHOUT the flash. I recognized that the orange button was blinking repeatedly. When I looked in the manual, it said that it was because the camera was shaking, which the camera was still. It said to use a tripod. I got my pictures back, after trying EVERY mode possible without the flash, and almost ALL of them came out blurry. Why make a camera without a flash if all of the pictures are going to come out blurry?? So basically you can only use this camera with a flash or outside or all of the pictures are going to come out blurry?? Canon has been known for making great cameras and scanners/printers. But this camera was just down right horrid when it came to getting a decent picture. It is overpriced garbage and people at Canon should have made a sure shot camera that lived up to its name. The zoom is nice, as it gets good close ups. But when it comes to using this camera without flash, it is impossible without a tripod. I am not about to bring a tripod to a football game. Why have a sports feature on the camera FOR MOVING OBJECTS if the feature is not going to work?? Seems to me, that the folks at Canon are bonafied MORONS!!

A love/hate relationship.......2004-07-30

I bought this camera before reading the reviews, and then was pretty uncomfortable when I saw all the negative comments. That said, I needed a camera for my first trip to Hawaii that was 1)not expensive, 2)light enough to carry around, and 3)uncomplicated. (I am notorious for NOT wanting to read instructions. Some people love to read those fat little manuals from cover to cover. Not me.)
So, I took a roll or two before going on the trip. What I found was not much different than the reviewers before me: the personal setting made horrible, blurry messes, and sometimes the full zoom did the same thing. However, the automatic setting did a great job. So I stuck with that, and almost every photo taken on that setting, out of 11 rolls of film, was beautiful. The camera was ideal for what I needed, especially since I didn't feel moved to go digital just yet, and I'm quite happy with it.

You do have to tell any random person who is taking a photo of you and your friends, to hold the button down FOREVER because it truly does take 4 or 5 seconds sometimes to take the photo.

I purchased this camera to take on a Disney vacation. I decided to use it before the trip to make sure I would be pleased with it. It is complicated to use, even after reading instruction manual. Focusing & centering objects are no easy task; neither is exchanging it for another. Definitly NOT what I had in mind; I wanted a Sure Shot.

This camera take GREAT pictures in the automatic mode, but anytime I try to use the night setting or portrait setting, my pictures don't turn out at all or they are blurred. It's such a shame because the pictures in automatic mode are great.

Good camera, clear pics, pretty easy to use.......2005-08-06

Overall I'm happy with this camera. I had to replace a point and shoot pentax. I'm pretty happy with the pics I get with this point and shoot. I've gotten a few blurry ones, that I may have moved. Unfortunately the price wasn't as good when I bought it. It has an optional remote control which I was used to on my pentax and the zoom is longer. Overall a good camera.

Excellent camera ,highly recommended!.......2004-07-19

I was surprised to read all the negative reviews about the canon z155. My own experience with this camera has been basically positive. Since purchasing the camera 7 months ago, the majority of my prints have been sharp, clear, colors bright and true to life. The only drawback i can think of is the pictures do tend to blur when using full zoom without a tripod. I dont think this is specifically Canon's problem, though, because photography books all recommend using a tripod when using a high zoom. At 155mm, one needs a very steady hand or the pictures blur. When I do use a tripod, even my pictures at the highest zoom come out crystal clear. I'd recommend this camera anytime!

Inconsistent.......2004-01-25

Although my canon rebel SLR is incredible and we've had great canon's before, this one is very disappointing and inconsistent. I've had the same problems as others with blurry pictures and delays in taking photos after pushing the button. I'd recommend finding another camera or upgrading to a SLR from Canon (though pricey).

Great Camera - Fun Features - Excellent Pictures.......2003-12-30

Bought this camera in a pinch as our old one broke two days before Christmas. Didn't get a chance to read the reviews here first (and I'm glad I didn't or I probably would not have bought it!). I quickly snapped a roll of 24-exposure film to try the camera out and see if we wanted to keep it.

The pictures came out BEAUTIFULLY! I took some indoors, some out. Some with the fully automatic point-and-shoot, and expermimented with the potrait mode, sports action mode, and night mode. They all came out fantastically!

It's like having two cameras in one - a fully automatic no-brainer point and shoot as well as some features that allow you to be more creative and experimental with photography if you want to. Also a great zoom.

Canon must have corrected the issues that some of the eariler reviewers posted, because I did not experience any of these problems.

Worst camera ever.......2003-10-31

I am so glad after seeing the other reviews to know that I'm not crazy- this camera really is awful! The inconsistent quality of photos is dreadful, with many underlit and blurry for no clear reason. I love my other Cannon and wish they would stay away from making such supposedly "smart" cameras.

Poor Range.......2004-12-06

I've used many brands and styles, non match the advertised range, but Midland is the most misleading in calling these "10 mile" radios. Tested them over open water, the most ideal of conditions for these radios, on "HI power" as the manual describes. They did not even match the range of a $10 Conair 2 mile radio used by a friend. Hi/Lo power made no difference, the controls are functional but you cannot shut of the beeping whenever you press a button. As stated before, the volume is two loud at the lowest setting. Not unusable but very annoying. Not recommended. Buy the cheapest pair of re-chargeable style for kids or everyday use or if you need quality, spend $150 for a decent pair of Motorolas.

Not worth the money.......2004-06-02

I bought the Midway G-300 radios thinking it would be very useful because of the advertised 10-mile range but after some testing I found out that it does not even reach 2 miles maximum power. The FCC regulations require a permit to operate this and other powerful radios, as to prevent abusive uses with it, but I would not waste time and money to apply for this because of the short range (thus limited usage) of this.

The G-300 is good for many short-range outdoor activities, inside stores, etc. The volume can be set loud enough for any purpose (sometimes the minimum is not quiet enough!). I found the vibration mode very useful.

I got this at Staples for $35 after mail-in rebate, which at that price it may be worth the value. Unless you can get a good deal on this I would not recommend this.

3 watts and easy to use!.......2004-04-29

Chose this model because of the 3 watt feature for longer distance. Very easy to use with simple instructions. All settings are saved when turning off (including power level), so they are the same when turning unit back on.
I do agree, the lowest volume is not low enough, but I don't plan on using it in a movie theatre. Very satisfied with this choice for the amount of money paid !!

10 miles? I doubt it.......2004-01-21

I realize that in the real world you're not going to get a 10 mile range like Midland advertises (don't know how they came up with that figure), but I did expect better than the 1.5 mile range that I obtained. The problem could be that the antenna appears to be smaller than on some of the other frs radios I've had experience with. Also, the g300 is more complicated to operate than need be. In order to get access to the 3 watts of power, you have to go through the menu every time you turn the radio on. Then there's the volume control. Lowest volume is not low enough. Sorry, but I can't recommend this radio.

Professional's choice.......2004-05-07

A very good friend of mine is a professional photographer. His reputation for excellence is well known in the US and is spreading into international circles. He can choose from the finest photographic gear available. A few years ago I hired him for a location shoot. He showed up sporting a Leica M7 35mm. My first reaction was, "Where is your Nikon or Hasselblad? These shots need to be great." He assured me that the Leica would do the job. The film came back and the photos were fantastic. Never forgetting that the results are divided between the quality of the equipment and the skills of the photographer. I do know a thing or two about camera equipment - I studied photography. I grew up in a commercial phography studio. The Leica M7 is now on my short list of outstandting cameras in the world. If you want the best, this is the best!
