Old tech, but superior.......2006-05-10

I've been using one of these for several years, in 3-4 computers. It's a superb, robust, unstoppable 802.11b card (that means it's only capable of 11 Mbps).

The real value is not just in the card, but in the latest software from Cisco for it. Update to the most recent firmware, the Aironet Client Utility (ACU) 6.6.0.0 (as of this writing), and their separate site survey utility, and you've got more functionality, configurability (including World Mode) than most PC Cards. The ACU is a fantastic location switching program, allows you associate more than one SSID with a profile (say, "CAFE," or "LIBRARIES"), set specific power and sensitivity settings for each, etc. It will also work with IBM's Access Connections if you use a ThinkPad.

If you want the best, you've found it (short of a newer a/b/g card); otherwise, settle for less with the rest.

You can get it cheaper.......2005-09-09

I purchased this card because the unique capabilities of our network required it. So I can't speak for it's features...

But I only paid $25.00 for it. If you shop for this item on on-line auctions, you can get a very good deal.

Works with Fedora Core 2.......2004-09-23

I got from a friend this card 3 weeks ago. It was very easy to install on Linux Fedora Core 2. I am using it on my Compat Evo N1020v and it works well.

Solid performer.......2004-07-09

I have 4 Linksys 54G cards ( 2 desktop and 2 laptop ) and 2 Cisco 11B 350s and I think the 350s are much easier to work with. Especially on the road with a laptop - they always work. Set up a new profile and your are connected.

We use the 350s at work and they are just great, solid, predictable cards. For the price difference, unless you have a homogeneous 54G environment, the 350s are winner.

My choice for ease of use and consistent performance.

Plus, I like the Cisco monitoring software, profiles, etc. When I go out of town, I set up a new profile and almost always can get associated right away with whatever wireless provider ( maybe except for the Spokane airport but that's a different rant ).

Terrific product; but terribly priced.......2003-07-11

I have been using Cisco Aironet 350 series for a while, with a netgear wireless router. The range and the quality are pretty decent and I never had a problem with it. Interestingly the product I got was a used one. So, I guess it should work well, for a long time for you.

The software has some good diagnostic tools to test the link status and performance and proves that this is a standard Cisco product. The automatic network detection and switching makes it even better to seamlessly move from the office to home and to Starbucks if you like, without much hassle (I haven't tried it in starbucks personally though).

One small issue. The Aironet Client Monitoring software disables the fast switching capability in the Windows XP and gives the typical Windows 2000 login screen. Though not a big problem for me, it might be a serious issue for some.

Except for the price, the product is very likable. If you are more conscious about price, you might want to try the linksys alternative (from Cisco/Linksys group afterall)

As with all Cisco products this one is a winner.
It has great performance with little loss in throughput when WEP is running.
It also is a winner for range. I recommend this unit to customers all the time.

Fast, capable floppy drive.......2006-12-18

I got a Memorex USB floppy drive locally and the box is slightly different, but it is probably the same item. For the record, the part number on mine is 3202 3239. With that caveat, I would say that this drive is quite nice (assuming the one shown here is identical). Mine has a built-in USB cable, about 2 foot long. It was recognized without trouble by Windows XP. And the best thing is that it is fast in both reading and writing. While I have not done a careful comparison, I would estimate it is maybe a 2X. I can at least say that my unit is NOT one of those slow internal floppy drives that goes click, pause, click, pause, as it glacially writes a large file, nor rrrwww, click, rrrwww, click as it tries to seek to the file allocation table when accessing multiple files. It acts much more like the 4X floppy I once used in a Sony digital camera (perhaps the speed improvement in this USB unit is simply a result of the USB channel the data goes through compared to the old ribbon cable port on built-in floppy drives...).
The two minor negatives I can think of are that it is a little loud and Windows refused to dismount it when I selected "safely remove hardware" from the task-bar. The former is not an issue in my application and I solved the latter by just pulling the USB cable after waiting for all activity to stop. A few tests of using it again showed that I had not upset the driver. It worked fine.
In summary - it is very capable and I plan to buy another soon for work since we have lots of expensive test equipment that writes screen captures to floppies and I fear that floppies are not long for this world - so I'm stocking up now :-)

Easy to add floppy capability.......2004-03-02

Many of the newer laptops don't come with floppy drives. Supporting users who require floppy use but have no floppy drive can be difficult. Memorex's 3.5 external USB floppy drive is easy to use, at an affordable price. No software needed (at least not for the latest Windows OS and Mac OS systems.) It was immediately recognized by the system, and useable. (Insert USB cable into system, insert floppy into drive, browseable floppy!)

This product is especially good in that it means multiple people can share the drive as needed rather than wasting space and weight lugging around a laptop with the added feature.

Great for Kids.......2002-10-23

If you have kids and they or you prefer them to watch video tapes rather than television this T.V. or this type may be for you.
Combination televisions have come way down in price and the reliability and quality are great. My daughter's television is almost 4 years old and still is as good as the day we bought it.
Kids don't have to find channel 3 or 4 on the television to play the VCR - just pop in the tape. The television is cable ready and programmable. The screen is a nice size, yet the television does not require much space.
