Don't bother!.......2007-04-19

I bought this thing years ago when it was $100! So read my review and imagine my frustration. You have to be within a few feet of it to get it to record. I bought it for lectures in class, so that was aggravating. The sound quality is awful. If you're willing to go to a professional sound studio digitally separate what you wanted from all the background noise and static, then maybe you'll like it. I could never get the computer software to work, so I couldn't upload recordings onto my computer. Not that I wanted any of them after I heard the quality. You can get a much higher quality recorder with more memory for just a little more money. Just that the time and shop around.

Worst product in the market. This is not for you........2004-02-28

This is my first digital voice recorder(Coby CXR118 IC) and I'm deeply disappointed with it. I was expecting the recording quality of that of my camcorder. The reason I bought this is for the price and PC interface capability. This is the worst product anyone can make. The recording quality is so horrible I cannot recognize my own words after recording with microphone close to your mouth. Menu selection is poorly designed and the user manual is for COBY's Techies. DON'T EVEN CONSIDER THIS PRODUCT. It does not record voice, it records NOISE.

Beware - cheaply built, far too hard to use.......2004-02-25

I am deeply disappointed with my Coby voice recorder. In the past I've used an Olympus model. Based on my experience with that device, the Coby just doesn't stand against the competition. This device is cheaply built. The user interface is almost unusable. The long record quality is terrible. The user manual is next to indecipherable (this from a guy who can figure out just about any device on the market without reading a manual). I'd highly recommend the least expensive Olumpus model over this device. Beware of this one.

Software won't work.......2004-02-21

I bought the CX-R188 primarily for the ability to tranfer recordings to my computer. The software did not work. I was not able to transfer files of more than a few minutes in length. I tried the software on multiple computers with no success. Other than this flaw (which was significant for me), the product seems to work OK.

COBY CXR188 IC Digital Voice Recorder.......2003-12-03

Recorder can record over 3 1/2 hours in long play mode(LP)- not 4 hours as advertised - and only 45 minutes+ in slow play mode(SP). Problems in voice quality cropped up after a few months: too much background noise from somewhere?! Had to stop using it to record lectures, which is what I got the unit for! I don't know why the audio files take so long to upload, even though the baud rate was set high. One of the button features does not work, the bookmark. After having the device for several months, I would not recommend it. Nice try Coby, no cigar.

The panasonic PV-L550 was our second foray into camcorders - our 1st JVC lasted about 5 years and this one barely two- it is not durable at all ; our JVC suffered through numerous impacts without incident but the slighest bump of the Panasonic sent it to be repaired twice. Also the EIS is a joke and never functioned correctly. Wouldn't recommend this one.

quick and easy.......2001-09-13

Yes this is my first camara. I love it though. I like having the little screen so I can watch the action live and on the screen to be sure I have the shot I want. I also like the small cassettes. They make it easy to carry around extra. There are many features on this thing that are nice to have for such a low price. The only thing it doesn't have is a remote, but you really don't need that either with the motion sensor on it. I chose panasonic because I have a boom box that they made and it is now 15 years old. I expect it to last even longer. Because of that I expect this camera to last longer then average with out any problems.

Good for the Price , But .....................2000-12-15

I just received mine today. Everything looks very good, BUT : 1. The image stabilization does not do anything. I went to Wallmart and tried all camcorders that had Digital Image stabilization - the Sony and RCA there was noticeble difference with it on and off. I tried another Panasonic there - there is almost no difference. If you could, play little exra money (like 100.00) and get the SOny one with SteadyShot and NightVision.

Small but works like full size.......2000-11-22

I'll keep it simple. Lots of neat bells and whistles. Small camcorder that works like full size VHS. Has a nice adaptor for the VHS VCR. I tried other camcorders and full size VHS cameras before I bought this one and it was the closest to working like a full size camera. It is very light weight even with the battery on it. Your arm does't get tired from holding it up. It is also nice to have the LCD when you want to tape your whole family you don't have to look in the view finder to be sure it's lined up right. You just turn the LCD screen to face the front of the camera.

Great Camcorder!.......2000-08-15

I got this Panasonic Yesterday, and it works great! I tried filming our dog runnng around in circles and it still picks up with no lines at all on the screen when you veiw it later. If you want a light, small, camcorder this is the one for you.. Not to mention its also pretty cheap. The price on here was 396.91 and that included shipping charges. At Sears its 399 withOUT taxes.. Good Deal HERE!

Not worth buying.......2007-02-15

Get something else. This is a USB 1.1, not USB 2.0. So, it does not work well with, say, a USB 2.0 flash drive. And, it may not work at all with a USB 2.0 flash drive. Normally, I could plug my USB 2.0 flash drive into a USB 1.1 port and use it, even though I get an initial alert saying a detected device will perform better on a USB 2.0 port. However, a PNY USB 2.0 flash drive I own would not work at all with this USB hub. I can plug the flash drive directly into the same USB port on the computer and use it but it will not work with this hub.
The cable on this hub is only about 18 inches long, so you'll probably need to use an extension cable if you want to connect it to the back of a tower PC sitting on the floor.

Not for ITG players.......2005-10-29

this is a great flash drive if you do not play In the Groove. It functions normally and does not suddenly become corrupt. But if you like to play the arcade game In the Groove, you are out of luck. This particular flash drive is known not to work in In the groove 1st mix, but I tested it on an In the Groove 2 dedicated cabinet and it still did not work. This flash drive will probably not work on In the Groove 2 conversion kits either.
