It was good while it lasted.......2002-04-13

When I first got it, I was excited because the sound was great. I was using it to supplement the small stereo I had in my room. My wife took it for a jog. It worked great during the jog. The next time I tried to play a CD on it, did not work any more. Total amount of days with it... 4 days. It would not recognize as having a CD in it and it would not start. I am not sure if I would buy another from this company, I am thinking in buying something that would last more than a few days.

I never thought all cd players could be so different, but they are. Before this memorex, I had an RCA portable player and I liked it. 3 weeks after I bought the RCA, it had electrical problems and never ran again. I guess for the price, the memorex is a good deal, but lack of build quality REALLY SHOWS! First off, the colored part of the lid scratches very easy, even rubbing agains your clothes will put light marks in it. Opening the lid, you see a simple design inside that lacks engineering, but does the job.
Other than just apperance flaws, the player doesnt do well with CD's. If your lucky, the player will read a cd maybe 50% of the time. If the CD is slightly scratched, it has a tough time reading it. The ESP takes about a minute to load its 40 second buffer and while its doing this, you can hear skips if you bump the player. The headphones are aweful, but that didnt matter to me since I always use my good pair. Last but not least, the buttons feel cheap when pushed in.
On the good side, the batteries last FOREVER! (I seriously bought this player a month and a half ago and still have the original cheapo batteries in it! probably over 60 hours of playing time on two AA and no BATTERY LOW symbol yet), there are all the standard features such as shuffle, repeat 1/all, program, intro, and bass boot. All things considered, I might recommend this thing to people depending on what your needs were. If you want simplicity and are on a tight budget, buy it, otherwise look elsewhere.

Bargain - worth the price.......2005-09-03

Given that the speakers are in the $10 range, these speakers actually perform quite well. While sound quality may not be quite on par with similar speakers from Bose or Altec Lansing, I have no complaints about the sound. Quality is remarkably full for simple desktop speakers.

The one big complaint I have about them is the actual design - while they look fine, it seems that function was somewhat ignored for the design. The problem is that the speakers slope backward, which looks ok, but really throws off the speakers' center of gravity. The end result is some nice, cheap, relatively good sounding speakers that fall over very easily - virtually any small force can knock them backward. Needless to say, this can get irritating over time.

If you can put them in a spot where they will rarely or never be disturbed, and are looking for some very cheap speakers with decent sound, you should definitely look into these. I'm actually happy with them for the purpose I bought them for, but the ease with which they fall over gets pretty obnoxious.

One other nice feature is the headphone jack on the front of the right speaker - provides easy access when needed.

1. You can't turn the volume all the way down! Even when the knob is all the way over to the left, you can still hear sound. Sucks when you need to take a call.

2. They're really wobbly and fall over easily.

On the plus side, there is a jack for the microphone on the right one, which a lot of similar speakers don't have.

The sound on these speakers is fine, but then again so are most PC speakers.

The problem is that they are really, really tippy! Barely breathing on them will make them fall over. And if you want to turn them on, adjust the volume, or plug in headphones, it'll have to be with your other hand securely holding the speaker, because you will tip them over. They're the most unstable speakers I've ever used.
