Great little machine........2002-06-26
Got this for work, and since I'm in IT, it naturally has a good deal of server applications running on it (SQL Server, SMTP server, web server, ftp server), not to mention other random programs like a firewall and Norton with the most paranoid and power-hungry settings possible. I also frequently run programs like photoshop, illustrator, quarkXpress, acrobat, massive excel files, and much more...not to mention the occasional 3d-shooter late at night...don't tell my boss!
So, considering the amount of programs I am constantly running on top of the background applications, this is running extremely capably. Not a problem yet.
Just a side note, I have win2k server installed rather than winXP (which would probably be fine but doesn't have the same functionality).
Looks nice, takes up little space, runs so quietly I seriously can't hear it...especially compared to the darn Mac G4 sitting behind me, or my old HP.
And if you've had bad experiences with compaqs in the past...well I have too...up until a couple years ago their computers weren't worth squat in my opinion...very shoddy. But now they're by far the best widely commercially available and affordable PCs available. They probably took a cue from their business server department and started making good computers finally. Happy with this and with my 2701 US presario notebook =)

My wife have been waiting for a new machine. Finally, I bought her this one. Small size, fast, quiet, and tons of hard drive space.
BTW. 80G not 8G...
After loading all graphics design(Adobe photoshop 7.0, Illustrator..etc) that she used to use, play around some rendering stuuffs,she is really happy on the speed.
Right on my budget as well.
Comes with Windows XP@Home, 3 games, include simcity 3000 unlimited(That game she has been waiting long time...)

Best value for the money. Second was HP. MS XP is great. Decades ahead of 98. Circuit City people in Palm Desert were so nice to deal with. They were not that informed about a Amazon/Circuit City pick up program, but tried hard and and did get our computer. Comsumer Reports gave XP/Norton great reviews, a must use to protect against viruses and as a firewall.

Poor Range.......2004-12-06
I've used many brands and styles, non match the advertised range, but Midland is the most misleading in calling these "10 mile" radios. Tested them over open water, the most ideal of conditions for these radios, on "HI power" as the manual describes. They did not even match the range of a $10 Conair 2 mile radio used by a friend. Hi/Lo power made no difference, the controls are functional but you cannot shut of the beeping whenever you press a button. As stated before, the volume is two loud at the lowest setting. Not unusable but very annoying. Not recommended. Buy the cheapest pair of re-chargeable style for kids or everyday use or if you need quality, spend $150 for a decent pair of Motorolas.
Not worth the money.......2004-06-02
I bought the Midway G-300 radios thinking it would be very useful because of the advertised 10-mile range but after some testing I found out that it does not even reach 2 miles maximum power. The FCC regulations require a permit to operate this and other powerful radios, as to prevent abusive uses with it, but I would not waste time and money to apply for this because of the short range (thus limited usage) of this.
The G-300 is good for many short-range outdoor activities, inside stores, etc. The volume can be set loud enough for any purpose (sometimes the minimum is not quiet enough!). I found the vibration mode very useful.
I got this at Staples for $35 after mail-in rebate, which at that price it may be worth the value. Unless you can get a good deal on this I would not recommend this.
3 watts and easy to use!.......2004-04-29
Chose this model because of the 3 watt feature for longer distance. Very easy to use with simple instructions. All settings are saved when turning off (including power level), so they are the same when turning unit back on.
I do agree, the lowest volume is not low enough, but I don't plan on using it in a movie theatre. Very satisfied with this choice for the amount of money paid !!
10 miles? I doubt it.......2004-01-21
I realize that in the real world you're not going to get a 10 mile range like Midland advertises (don't know how they came up with that figure), but I did expect better than the 1.5 mile range that I obtained. The problem could be that the antenna appears to be smaller than on some of the other frs radios I've had experience with. Also, the g300 is more complicated to operate than need be. In order to get access to the 3 watts of power, you have to go through the menu every time you turn the radio on. Then there's the volume control. Lowest volume is not low enough. Sorry, but I can't recommend this radio.

Memorex DVD/VCR Combo.......2002-08-22
I was hesitant to buy this thing, considering it's not a SONY or other mainstream electronic device. Although a bargain at the "going out of bussiness sale" at Ames pushed me to make the dive into the unknown.
First off, it's obvious this product is for those of us who either can't part with our VHS collections or just must record television programs for whatever reason. The disk is definately the way of the future and once the DVD recorders get reasonable it's bye-bye clunky videocassetes.
I must say I'm happy with the unit I bought. This unit will play DVDs, MP3s, audio CDs, and VHS. I've played several DVD disks with no problems. The picture quality is great and the VHS has played flawlessly as well. There are many MANY ports in the back for just about anything you could want to hook up to it. A connection to an amplifier or other sound component is pretty straightforward and can be configured with a multitude of ways. It even has inputs in the front to give you access for ANOTHER component such as a gaming system.
The biggest drawback I found was that you cannot record DVDs onto the VHS deck. Although I'm sure all of the commercial DVDs are protected anyway. Also, it is bulky: about the size of an 80s era VCR.
All in all it's a spacesaver with a decent value for your money. I'll just have to see how long it lasts without problems.

I love the gel rest part of this mousepad. My problem with this product is the mousepad surface is way too small. I find myself running off the edge alot and having to pickup the mouse and reset it. It is almost impossible to play any pc games with this. If all you use it for is web surfing and business applications I would recommend it. I have carpal tunnel syndrome and this gel rest feels great. If the mousepad surface was bigger i'd give this 5 stars.

I got this mouse pad about a month ago and I love it. The wrist rest is very comfortable and the copy holder -- well, it has made my desk a lot neater. The copy holder is also very easy to take off when you just want to play a game. I only wish that the colors were customizable and the mouse pad didn't stand off so much on my desk. But for the price at which Amazon is giving it away, it is definitely worth.
