The Basics
- Hard Drive: The massive 160 GB Ultra DMA hard drive (7200 RPM) offers more than enough storage for all your documents, digital photos, and MP3 collection.
- Processor: A 2.8 GHz Intel Pentium 4 processor with Hyper-Threading technology (which allows a single CPU system to behave in some aspects like a dual-CPU system--see more in Tech Talk section below) powers the S6700NX, which offers more than enough speed for gaming and multimedia creation. It also has an 800 MHz front-side bus (FSB) and 1 MB L2 cache.
- Memory: The S6700NX comes with a 512 MB built-in memory (2 x 256 MB DDR SDRAM, 333 MHz)--a good start for power users--with a maximum memory expansion up to 4 GB (4 x 1 GB).
- CD/DVD Drive: This desktop PC comes with two optical drives: a CD-RW and a DVD+RW (for writing data and video files from your camcorder to discs). The speedy CD-RW drive has 48x write, 24x re-write, 48x read speeds, while the DVD+RW drive has 4x write, 2.4x rewrite, and 8x playback speeds (DVD movie discs require 8x). It's compatible with the DVD+RW format, one of two formats for rewriteable DVDs.
- Keyboard & Mouse: The S6700NX comes with a Compaq Productivity keyboard and scroller mouse (both with PS/2 connections).
Sound and Graphics
The S6700NX features audio and video cards that are integrated into the computer's main board. The sound card uses the AC'97 (Audio Codec '97) standard (configurable to 6 channels of audio). The video/graphics card--Intel Extreme 3-D Graphics--has up to 64 MB of shared video memory. It is suitable for good range of gaming graphics and multimedia video playback, but might not stack up for ultra-realistic 3-D PC games.
Connectivity and Expansion Slots
For expansion, the S6700NX has two 5.25-inch external bays (one available), three 3.5-inch bays (one available), three PCI slots (two available), and one AGP2 slot (available). It comes with a built-in floppy drive and the following external connectors:
- 8 USB 2.0 ports (2 in front, 6 in rear) for connecting a wide range of peripherals--from digital cameras to MP3 players
- 2 FireWire (also known as IEEE 1394 or i.Link) ports for connecting digital video camcorders and other peripherals (1 in front, 1 in rear)

*Pros-It has 160MB, CD-RW/DVD+RW and 512MB of RAM.*yay*
*Cons-I'm not a big fan of the CD/DVD recording softwer it brought[RecordNow!Version 6.5.1]and the Microsoft Office 2003 CD that was included with the PC doesn't work and neither does the product key, so I can't use Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook or PowerPoint. Monitor not included : (

Reliable and Reasonable.......2003-05-03
After buying this model a year ago, I was a skeptic. ... I was hoping that the money I spent on this would result in a excellent product, and it did.
This is such a lightweight, sleek and appealing, reliable, and excellent quality CD player. It works great, and it's so simple because there are only 6 buttons you need to worry about. The cover isn't crowded with uneeded things, just the right amount.
This is a great buy, and I think that it's worth every penny. The only flaw would be that it takes awhile to charge, and the numbers can't be seen in the dark! I recommend it!
It's okay, as long as you don't expect it to work........2003-03-19
I got one of these puppies back in September. It was pretty nice at first. I liked it because it came with a remote and a carrying pouch thingy and it had a long battery life.
There were some annoying parts, like how the resume function starts a track from the beginning every time and how the sound cuts out for a second when you push a button on the remote, but it wsan't bad, overall.
After a couple of months, though, it stopped working. Something about the controls; I couldn't stop it and then once it did stop I could never start it again. Panasonic gave me the address of a place that would fix it for me, so I took it in.
A week later, they called back and told me that Panasonic had given them specific instructions not to fix the CD player. I would have to send it in for a replacement.
Cut ahead three weeks or so, and my replacement arrives. Not the same color, but I didn't mind that so much. What I did mind was that there was no remote and a set of batteries lasted about half as long as in my original CD player. I called back and they sent me a new remote, but it wouldn't work, so they told me to send it in again.
Another month, and I'm on my third. Once again, it has no remote. The Panasonic people tell me that it isn't compatible with a remote control, despite the fact that my original came with one and various store web sites say that it's supposed to include one. Also, when comparing manuals, I'm finding that even the listed battery life for the replacement is significantly shorter than for my original. Panasonic says they'll give me a refund if I send this one back, but after all the time I spent, the shipping, and the long distance charges, it feels like I'm cutting my losses.
Avoid this CD player.

This is perheps one of the best cd player around with low price and works like charm.First of all,the best thing is the remote control,it looks so cool with red EL backlit.It is very small,thin and compact perfect for people on the run and needed a light wighted and small player.the sound delivered by the player is of high quality and up to expectation.This is definately the best player around that is worthy of its price.I noticed that the sony player offer a little more function but cost so much more and most important, it spoils easily.

cool radios - work better than expected.......2005-02-27
Range received so far has been what I expected - in urban conditions clear reception over 5 miles - I havent tried further yet.
I will be getting rechargeable batteries - but have been running these on standard batteries for over 24hrs and still running ok.
I have various midland radios and these are great

BEWARE If i could give these radios a lower score than 1 i would don,t be fooled by the up to 12 miles if they reach out to a mile you will be lucky the vibrate feature only works some times other times it rings or does nothing the vox feature is nice but way too sensitive even in the lowest setting if never could get the weather radio to work i would not trust these radios in the woods hunting they will be going back

Hood is useful... and bulky, insecure in use.......2003-02-05
Many LCD products are completely useless in sunny or very bright conditions, and OEM and after-market parties have dived in to help. Nikon has produced this hood for the Coolpix 5000, and it is made of a rubber-like material. The hood fastens by pressure fit and ridges, and even when brand new is loose and easy to lose (e.g. in a wind, or just moving around). It is also quite bulky, and since it isn't collapsible, requires substantial room in your kit bag for it. I use this hood, as it seems the only one available and it does help make the LCD visible in bright conditions, but it is a quite imperfect solution. I can only hope Hoodman or other after-market manufacturer will produce something more durable and collapsible.
