The Basics

Hard Drive: The 40 GB IDE hard drive (4200 RPM) is on the small side compared to other notebooks. However, it does offer a decent enough capacity for storing documents and productivity software for road warriors--but not enough for much multimedia storage.
Processor: The Intel Celeron M processor is designed specifically for mobile computing, offering a balanced level of mobile-optimized processor technology, good mobile performance, and exceptional value. It features a Deep Sleep state, which helps enable longer battery life by minimizing the power consumption of the processor during brief periods of inactivity. The 1.3 GHz speed is at the middle of the speed spectrum for this processor, and it also offers a 400 MHz front-side bus (FSB) speed and a 1 MB L2 cache. (An L2, or secondary, cache temporarily stores data; and a larger L2 cache can help speed up your system's performance.)
Memory: The 512 MB of built-in memory (2 x 256 MB, DDR SDRAM) is a good start for power users, though it is a little slower (266 MHz) than RAM found in comparable laptops. It has two memory slots in total, with a maximum memory expansion up to 2 GB (2 x 1024 MB), and you'll want to maximize the RAM within your budget to take advantage of today's memory-intensive business productivity software.
CD/DVD Drive: The combo CD-RW/DVD-ROM drive can read CDs at 40x, write at 16x, and rewrite at 10x speeds. It can read DVDs at 8x.
Keyboard & Mouse: This notebook has a full-sized 101-key keyboard and touchpad with four-way scroll zone on/off button and dedictated vertical scroll up/down pad.

Screen, Graphcs and Sound
The 14-inch BrightView WXGA high-definition widescreen display has a 15:9 aspect ratio and 1280 x 768-pixel resolution, providing 25% more screen information and the same widescreen film picture size as a standard 15-inch XGA screen. A great laptop for the price.......2005-02-17

This is not the most powerful notebook you could get, but for the price it is a very good buy... Furthermore, it is very light, has a wonderful wide-screen monitor (it is amazing!!!) and comes with a CD/DVD recorder. What else can you expect for aproximately US$1100??? My only complaints are that the black plastic that is used to cover the external parts of the computer scratchs very easily and that this computer could come with a processor just a little bit more powerful. Despite of that, it does do the job for most people (it easily stands MS Office, MP3s and a DVD player). The battery lasts around 3 hours and I keep getting wows everytime I take it out of the bag. In brief, I do like my V2110US very much and I would buy one again if I had too.

Works OK, but...........2007-02-04

In general performance is OK.

Touchpad mouse buttons have always been a bit flaky. Sometimes pick up taps that never occurred. Not a huge problem but irritating.

BIG PROBLEM - the AC adapter plugs on these machines are mounted on the motherboard itself. They are notorious for getting loose. Unless you can find someone willing to try precision soldering - it CANNOT BE REPAIRED. Soldering is a problem because there is a high risk of overheating other components next to the power jack on the motherboard and making the board totally inoperable. If you take one into any big name repair shop (e.g., CompUSA), the only repair they can offer is to replace the motherboard. The price of JUST a new motherboard is at least $400. Add the labor costs and you have now spent more than the machine is worth.

If you are thinking of buying one of these used, I'd recommend against it.

UPDATE ** UPDATE

Found a place to repair the power connector on my motherboard. Laptop Rescuer in Santa Clara, CA. Works good as new. Only cost $150. Much cheaper than buying another laptop.

Overall it's a good product.......2004-02-20

The Acer USB port disconnects when copying images from some camera. This is one of the main things I wanted to use it for.
Tech support stepped me through a few updates, but was unsuccessful in helping me.

I wasn't sure at first, but WOW...........2003-02-10

I had a Presario 710 notebook and I decided I would like to upgrade as the 710 was beginning to be to slow for my work (programming). I spent a few weeks looking around to find the best deal on a good notebook without spending $2000. The 2110 is a NICE machine. I finally choose that one after debating 3 notebooks. This machine will play Warcraft 3 with all the graphics/video cranked all the way up!!! I did some tweaks to WinXP Pro and the machine now boots in 30 seconds from power to start bar and shuts down in 15 or less. The 710 would get so hot you could cook eggs on it, this machine stays pretty decently cool.

With a 60 GB HD, 512 megs of ram and 64 megs (shared) for video and a DVD/CD-RW you can't go wrong. So far I am very happy with my purchase and I would recoment anyone else in the market to consider this machine on their list.

Nice HP, but a few issues........2003-02-10

Well the system is a good as other HP models. The system has enough power and memory to complete any task a mobile user can through at it. The bigest problem is Firmware, it has been updated twice since my purchase in early january. So much for right the first time.

Great product to proctect all your gear.......2000-07-16

It's hard to find a surge protector geared directly for home theater setups. This product has everything you need and then some. I had problems with other surge surpressors hooking my coaxial line through it to my Direct TV receiver. Several channels wouldn't some in when it was connected. This product eliminated the problem. And Amazon delivered quickly at a fair price!
