Ideal First Digital Camera.......2002-12-08

This is my first digital camera, and for the money, I am amazed at what it can do, and I have barely scratched the surface. I have e-mailed pictures to relatives and have had several comments on their clarity and sharpness. One comment came from my son who asked, "What kind of a camera do you have, the pictures are great." When I told him, he said that the pictures were a lot better than his $500.00 Kodak's. My D-Link came with Photo Suite III SE and Video Wave III SF software. They work great with my camera and and easy to use.

You get what you pay for!.......2002-04-15

This is a BASIC digital camera...no flash, no instant display. The camera is small, and very easy to use. It is outdated now, having been replaced by the DSC 350F...which has a flash! You don't pay for film, you don't pay for developing...All things considered, a great buy.

i got the DSC-350 for my birthday recently. i was a leeeetle dissapointed at first, but then you really shouldn't expect much from a low-end camera costing only a coupla hundred dollars. it doesn't have a flash (a feature which i think is really crucial when it comes to digicams) so the pictures come out grainy when you're using the cam indoors, or when there's little light. when there *is* enough light though, picture quality is pretty decent.

the webcam feature is great. the picture quality is excellent. in fact, i almost never refer to the DSC-350 as a digital camera, but a webcam as the webcam's picture quality surpasses that of the still digital camera function. i've seen a lot of pictures from other webcams around the internet, and the thing most have in common is picture coming out grainy. this is what's fortunately missing from the DSC-350-- the grain. pictures from the webcam function come out as clear as day (well, provided you have a good light source. i keep a lamp next to the computer when i use the webcam feature). the only drawback to the whole webcam thing, though, is that i had to look around the internet for a driver since the one that came with the camera didn't work on my PC.

maximum pixel size-- 1024x768-- is just right-- for amateurs like me. if you're looking to use this camera for personal purposes (i.e., a webcam on your homepage, pictures with your friends), it suits the job just fine. however, this cam is not for those looking to use this for professional purposes. for that, you shouldn't even be looking at this camera.

Not Fully Functional.......2001-10-14

The DSC-350 took great still shots despite the fact that it needed a lot of light. Unfortunately, when I tried to set it up as a webcam I encountered a lot of problems with the driver installation. The driver that comes with the cam does not work in WinME; and the driver available for download at the D-Link website is no better (in fact, it's the same driver). The available patch did not help, either. D-Link tech support could offer no answers.

excellent picture quality without a progressive scan DVD.......2003-08-12

this is a response to the previous review about poor perfomance.

1. you got the wrong TV for 90% of your DVD in letterbox ratio. this TV is meant for widescreen, 16.9 or anamorphic movies. for letter box ratios, get a normal tv.

2. with normal non progressive input, you can get progressive quality by having the tv do progressive mode on its own. this means you need not have a progressive DVD player to enjoy progressive quality video. this is really your best option for your letter box ratio dvds.

Progressive Scan Is a Lie.......2003-07-16

The progressive scan input has no aspect ratio control and so MOST DVDs are incorrectly STRETCHED across the frame. Letterboxed DVDs will still have black bars and the image will be unacceptably distorted. Only ANAMORPHIC or "enhanced for 16:9" DVDs will display properly!

The Widescreen Modes (Auto Wide, Zoom 14:9, Zoom 16:9, WideScreen, Picture Tilt, Subtitle Zoom, Conventional 4:3) listed in the specs are NOT available when watching via progressive scan. So the user has NO widescreen options to fix this problem.

Consequently, I have NOT been able to watch 90% of my DVDs in progressive scan mode. This is supremely frustrating.

Good but poor documentation.......2006-01-11

We been using this GPS unit to measure our horse rides. The display is a bit difficult to read while riding. The documentation clarifies very little and is not in depth at all. Scrolling through the various modes can be tedious. It does keep track of avg speed and max speed. We've yet to figure out how to easily start a new lap.

They could do a lot more to make the interface and documentation more user friendly.

Folks, if there's anybody out there thinking of getting fit, breathing in some good air and maybe lose a pound or two, one of the best ways is to get out on your 2 pins. The problem i've always had is a little lack of motivation. With this gadget, everything changes. Knowing down to the exact yard what kind of progress you're making does wonders for your motivation.....you'll even be getting those training shoes on when it's minus 2 and snowing a blizzard! I can't recommend this device enough, go out and get one.

Just what I was looking for!.......2005-08-14

I wanted a GPS system that was not a watch (I already have one I love) and this was the perfect device! On a recent vacation to the west coast, I was able to run along the beaches and not worry about time and/or distance. Picks up the satellites without any problems so far. I'm very pleased!

Nice drives - I bought 2 of them.......2005-12-04

I have TWO of these babies in my computer (cost about $125 each), and they run like a charm. What I really love with Maxtor has nothing to do with the drives themselves. I love the software Maxtor gives free of charge that will make a carbon copy of an entire drive. Backing your system up, or upgrading from an old drive, is EZ as 1, 2, 3! No complaints. Money well-spent. Whether it's reliable or not, is too early to tell, and on that issue I must defer to more experienced consumers... and for the record? The number of other manufacturers besides Maxtor putting a 16 mb cache on their 250 gb drives is : ZERO. The standard at this time is 8 mb. Whether it really and truly makes a diff, I can't say, but at least Maxtor has a better spec.

I am loving it..........2004-07-10

Personally I own 3 Maxtor Drives. 1 is not 8 years old and hasn''t failed me yet, however it did replace a previous that went bad sector nuts in less than a month so there is always the chance.

I recently got this drive and bought an external drive kit for it (USB 2.0) and the drive outperforms my internal drive considerably. Tryin to decide now if I want to pick up another as I do a lot of video to DV transfers and this makes for great storage.

With all that said thou. Make sure you have a backup of all important data as you can potentially run into issues as with any PC part.

Maxtor's ata133 drives rock.......2004-06-05

I installed a maxtor ata133 (7200rpm, 8mb cache) on the 133 interface of a new asus mbd (the p4r800-v), and got transfer rates, in real apps, that blew away my previous speed demon (which cost more btw, was no slug, and was ata100 with 7200rpm 8mb disks). ata133, with a real 133 controller, is indeed a real improvement.

Great little case.......2004-07-31

I bought this on eBay for my Canon S200 Digital Elph and although it's a bit too large for the tiny S200, it fits my needs very well. I can keep two CF cards, and two spare batteries in the bag, as well as the camera. And it's still all small enough for me to put it on my belt and wear it without it being in the way. It's made out of tough material and I think it will last a long time. It's not weather proof like their AW bags but it should repel some water and dirt.

Nice, compact case........2003-05-07

I bought this case to hold my Canon S45. I was looking for a very compact case. The Z10 holds the camera, and an extra battery and an extra CF card in the smaller pouch, but not much else. You might be able to squeeze a cable in the bottom of the main compartment, but that's a little too much hassle. It worries me slightly that the mouth of the case does not open very wide so the zipper may scratch the camera. The padding seems adequate. The strap and belt loop work fine. The quality seems to be good, and I like the compactness of the case. It's good for casual use, it doesn't get in the way, and it is an easy to handle size.
