Okay, it works........2007-09-08

This was a first time wireless router and adapter purchase and installation. After getting everything hooked up and installed I was able to operate my laptop and desktop off the router for a home network. My laptop uses its own built-in wireless system to connect to the router. My desktop uses the adapter (DWL-122G) on a USB connection to communicate with the router. I was disappointed that the range of the adapter was so limited. I thought that I would be able to use the desktop in another room. But as it turned out I have difficulties when I am less than 20 feet from the router with no obstructions. The signal is really weak. I have tried everything I know to boost the reception to the adapter (DWL-122G) but without success. The laptop is completely mobile with the usual loss of signal with more obstructions like walls. I can get reasonable use to about 30 feet with a wall or two between the laptop and the router, which is satisfactory for my home use. The adapter performance is the most disappointing part of the product.

pleased with wireless router.......2007-07-26

I started from scratch trying to set up a wireless signal in my home. After some research, I ordered this D-link product, got it delivered quickly and installed it. I did have some technical problems getting it to work. First I tried to use the e-mail to get it shaken down, but they weren't very helpful. I went back to the information, got a number, called and got a live person without too much hassel. He was very good and got me through the connection issue and I haven't had a bit of trouble. The price was right and it works fine.

Good Router, Bad Adapter.......2007-05-14

Well, I had always trust D-Link, but now, not that much. You see, the Router has with me well over a year. The Adapter Kit broke down withing the month, and then I bought another that also broke down, though, this one lasted almost six months, then, I decided to buy another brand, that hasn't given me a single problem since I bought it, longer ago than what the two other lasted.

The router on the other hand, it has been great. I haven't had any problem with it. It has fallen, it was in a corner with a bunch of things around, including plants and whatnot (what a friend had to avoid or else he wouldn't have signal with his netgear). I had strong signal literally anywhere in my appartment (including the bathroom, tested!!). Now, I moved to a house more than twice as big as my old apartment, and I still have a good signal everywhere but the kitchen (where sometimes I have and sometimes I don't). Though, the adapter is a piece of crap that will break down fast, but the routher is well worth the price.

Ahhh!!! Something that is really great about D-Link: They have a great tech-support line. Unlike other companies, they don't charge you for it, and they will stay with you as long as it takes to resolve your problem!!

Item works as it should, but after using it for about 2 months I realized it would have been more effective to just buy a wired router and put a cable for each computer hooked up to it. It seemed like even with full signal the internet was going as slow as dial up. I still use the router but I ran a cable to my computers now.

It's a great monitor, clear and crisp even with an analog input. I haven't noticed any motion blur when playing movies and games, and I can't see a single defective pixel on the entire screen. My only complaint is the menus, and the buttons that go with them. NEC was nice enough to label all the buttons, but did so by simply embossing the words into the buttons themselves. On a black button on a black monitor, they're practically invisible. The second problem is the menus themselves. They're poorly designed and arranged, which makes them hard to navigate with the already clunky controls.

You can bypass some of the frustration if you run Windows by installing the Naviset software, which will also let you display some preset patterns that the auto calibration can lock onto extremely well.

DVI Rocks !! Excellent Monitor.......2003-07-30

I did a lot of research before finally choosing this brand and model. Some hardware review websites will say that the DVI input is all hype, but i'll testify its worth the extra cost.

I've setup the monitor with both DVI and VGA inputs and i'll say, Digital is definitely the way to go. You can really tell the difference. Everything is just so crisp and clear.

I'm also an avid gamer so response times was definitely a factor. Get any monitor with a response time >20 ms and you will experience blurry graphics. The 1760NX has a 16ms response time so everythings looks great. Even at resolutions lower than 1280x1024 the pixellation is minimal.

There is a model that also has speakers, but i've heard that the only thing built in speakers are good for are word processing. (Beeps).

I've had this monitor for a few months now and I don't have any complaints. It's very bright, very crisp. Counter-Strike and WarCraft 3 play great on it. I've never owned any other LCD monitors so I don't have anything to comapre it with really. However, I did buy this monitor after several days of research on the net... tomshardwareguide gives it a thumbs up, especially for gaming. Friends who own other LCD monitors say that changing their monitor input from analog to DVI makes a visible difference. I think in a few months I will upgrade my video card to a DVI connection. However, I can tell you that the analog input into this monitor has been very satisfactory so far. It is incredibly easy to use, I didn't have to adjust any of the setting on the monitor. I would also like to brag that I got this baby from the dell web site for a cool 360 bucks by stacking three coupons! schweet.

I bought two of these and they are great. Very clear and bright! But be warned that though this is the DVI enhanced version of the 1760V it doesn't come with a DVI cable.

Maxtor One Touch II Fried Like Other Users.......2007-03-16

Like other users my 250GB One Touch II fried after not so much use. After reading many online reviews I realized there was no use contacting Maxtor. I found out several things on my own while trying to save the data. One, the drive inside the box is an ATA 133 hard drive formatted with NTFS. Two, the components that fried were not on the drive itself. Three, you can pick up a new board for the drive (if needed/fried) online if you look not-so-hard for a few bucks. I slapped the drive into my PC and was able to not only save the data but to reuse the hard drive.

Bad experience with this model..........2006-10-23

I'm hoping that I'm not in for a nightmare experience with my other Maxtor products. I have a relatively new system with two internal Maxtor drives. I attached an older model OneTouch to the system, so that makes three. Then I bought this one to back everything up. I've used it about a half dozen times and now it has failed - the dreaded rapid blue light flash. Support told me the drive has failed and needs to be replaced. Just out of warranty, too. This is the one time I wish I had bought an extended service plan.

Keeps losing partition table when used with Dell Laptop Docking station.......2006-04-03

I purchased 2 of these devices, and ensured my settings allowed fast device removal (turned off write caching) and on numerous occasions, I just lose the partition table off one. Poof, gone, looks like a RAW drive. I have to re-partition, and format, losing all my backus.

Fortunately, I've learned to copy truely valuable backups to DVDs...

We have 5 of these in our office. The intent was to use them as baby NASes. After a year's worth of usage two of the drives are outright dead and one has so many trashed sectors on it that a lot of data has been rendered inaccessible.

As if that's not bad enough, Maxtor has decided lately to ship a more bare bones Dantz Retrospect software with each unit. A bare bones unit of a piece of software that wasn't that impressive to begin with is just not a good idea. I called tech support and sales at Maxtor and asked why a $300 hardware came with a full blown Retrospect software a month ago and why does it now come with a skeletal version of that software and was basically ignored. Good job, Maxtor. That's the way to keep the customer coming back.

And these are, sadly, not the only woes. The One-touch backup idea, while a good idea in theory, is a veritable mess in practice. Half the time it doesn't work and when it does it has been known to induce a BSOD on some of our XP machines. And, no, this is not a Microsoft problem.

I'm going to check out Buffalo Station and will probably use the 5 Maxtor drives as they were intended - as doorstops in our office.
