Storage and Transfer

Movie Mode

What a piece of junk! I got this camera from another retailer two years ago. The first year and a half it worked great. The pictures were clear and sharp, the colors bright. It was a good web cam also.

Then one day it stopped working outdoors. The pictures are nothing but white. Not even the photo editing software can get rid of the whiteness. I thought it was just me but a little research has yielded hundreds of orther horror stories about this camera and Fuji's unwillingness to fix the problem..

I have loved, loved, loved this camera since I first used a borrowed unit nearly 2 years ago. I bought my own about 16 months ago and have had nothing but joy until about a week ago, when it suddenly began to malfunction. When I went looking for information, I found many people reported the same issue: a distorted, multi-color image appearing in both the large display and on the image.

I very sadly started shopping for another camera in the Finepix F series when I came across a Fuji Service Advisory for this very problem. If you have this camera and have experienced this trouble, it is worth your time to read the advisory and have your camera repaired for no charge, even if it is out of original warranty

Other than this very serious malfunction, I have been very happy with this model and am especially fond of the 30fps video/audio feature. And it's hard to beat the excellent, high quality still images in such a small and simple package.

I"m surprised at some of the one and two star ratings that I've read here about this camera.

Even though I've got a great SLR Canon Rebel XT, plus four other fine point and shoot digital cameras, the Fuji 700 is my preferred camera when I find that the Canon XT a bit bulky for certain times.

One of the reasons I love it is that I prefer not to use the flash when I'm shooting indoors, and the F700 has an ISO 1600 which has allowed me to get some super great indoor shots.

I also love the "meter" which is quite easy to see before I take the shot, thus, giving me GO to take a properly exposed shot.

Now, I haven't read ALL the reviews here, and I'm sure most of the bad reviews are legitimate. The only problem I've ever had was that it kept "shutting down" on me, so I sent it back, and I now have not longer that problem.

And, I forgot to mention that it does not suffer from the dreaded "Shutter lag" syndrome that so many point and shoot cameras do....

So, the great indoor with no flash shots, the high ISO, and the "fast shot to shot"
was enough to make this beauty my favorite.

And, just recently I purchased the Fuji F10, which I kept for a few days, and then returned because it was not even close to the F700.

That purchase-return only endeared me closer to the F700.
And, if the F700 ever dies on me, my only problem would be trying to purchase another one, and they've been "discontinued"....

And, I do love my Canon Rebel XT, but I've found that since the F700 allows me to accomplish all I really want with it, that I'm having second thoughts about wether I really need the Canon XT.

No, I won't sell the Canon, but the F700 has surpassed everything that I had anticipated....

Zero stars, if I could.......2006-02-01

Just like other Amazon reviewers, we really enjoyed this camera for the first ten months of ownership at which time it broke. I contacted Fuji and they responded with artificial surprise at my complaint and stated that they'd never heard of such a malfuction with the F700. At that time, I began doing some simple online research and found HUNDREDS of consumers who had identical experiences. The camera still functions but the images are completely distorted by a pattern of purple, black, and white bars. Several reviewers exclaimed that they were told by some independent repair shops that the problem is very common to Fuji and 'not worth fixing'. I will be very unlikely to buy another Fuji product, EVER.

Don't waste your money!.......2006-01-15

At first I loved my new camera, but one day it started letting in too much light, so I took it to the authorized retailer and though it was only a few months after purchase, they claimed there was a small ding on the cover so the warranty was voided (which I'm certain there was not, but it was shipped out for repairs so there was no way of proving it) They charged me over $100 in repairs including charging me for the dock that I brought in which never worked. They wouldn't understand that I hadn't bothered to bring just the dock in for repair previously since the closest place on their site was almost an hour for me and I don't have enough need for a dock to warrant the trip. Regardless, they insited on charging me for a new one now aswell as for the repairs I originially brought it in for even though I told them that if they were going to charge for it I didn't want it.

I took it home and it was always a bit too sensitive to light...a few months ago the camera also started givign me a hard time with charging and now won't charge at all! I'm going to buy a new battery, but I'd rather just chuck it than pay for repairs again.

I won't be buying another fuji.

Great camera.......2001-08-06

This is a great camera. I've taken lots and lots of pictures with it-like over 2000. It really comes up with some fantastic shots. I like the lightweight. It's got a great long distance zoom lens that's fast. Indeed, it shoots like an expensive 35mm. The only drawback is it's macro ability. It does shoot up to about 2.6 feet which is pretty close, and for most shots this is enough. Really, in the majority of situations, it comes up with some wonderful shots that are very clear and great!

I've had this camera for a couple of years now and it has been a really great purchase. The picture quality is extraordinary. I often have people asking me what kind of camera I have because my pictures are so great. (i'd like to think it's my skill at picture taking but it really is the camera) I would highly recommend getting the optional remote, it has come in very handy when taking skyline pictures and other night pictures that require the camera to be very still. I've even used this camera to take some wedding pictures for some friends of mine. A lot of my pictures came out better than the professional camera !!! The price may seem somewhat high for those looking for a simple camera, however I found the quality to be well worth the price.

If u are looking for a Medium range Camera Go for This Camera. It has a Good Panaromic Mode for Photographing Skylines and Wide angles. The Controls Are Cool. A Bit Bulky But u can accept it for the way it shoots Pictures. Picture Quality is Crystal Clear. I have shot with this camera the Niagara Falls and It came Great. I strongly recommend this Camera if u are looking for more features at a reasonable price.

hard to use.......2007-09-17

After hours of trying everything in the manual, online and customer support I am still unbale to link this device to my computer. Without Outlook one cannot view a schedule, you can only set an alarm. Not very useful to a busy mom. I was really looking for a way to keep up my calendar. It is nice looking and I am sure if I could link it it may even be a good electronic calendar. I guess the bottom line is - you get what you pay for...I will try to unload mine at a garage sale

Sharp Organizer.......2007-07-29

The screen is hard to see in many daylight conditions and the screen backlight does not help.
In expense mode your memo has to be very brief.
There are way to many steps to learn to us this in various modes.
I had a Sharp yo 370 with a keyboard for 12 years until it went bad and liked very much. No comparison in ease of use between the two and the info you could enter in expense mode.
I will be looking for a keyboard organizer again soon.

Worth Every Bit of the Money.......2007-07-25

I have used this organizer for 2-3 years to store and back up my contacts and it worked great. The other day it stopped working after I changed the batteries. I had ignored the low battery messsage for a while - maybe that was my mistake. But I had backed up the data to MS Outlook before I changed the batteries - phewwww!

Synchronizing with Outlook is not the easiest but it works. Since I did not want to mix the Sharp data with my Outlook address book (which is mostly for email addresses), I created another address book in Outlook. The software will synch only with the main address book, so I had to copy the main AB to another folder before I synched the data to Outlook and then copy out the Sharp data to another folder and return the main address book to the "Contacts" folder. Because I want to look up names by the first name, I store the first and last name in the last name field.

Now I need to buy something else and want to find a cell phone that allows me to synch the data to my PC. The problem with that is the cell phone would have to have a reasonable keyboard. I refuse to enter names on a number pad. With the Sharp 290 - I used the touch screen keyboard without any trouble. Can anyone recommend a cheap cell phone that has a keyboard that is not much money? I am also considering the Sharp 590 organizer for $38.

XLNT Organizer if You Manage Your Expectations.......2007-06-15

Folks...this is an inexpensive organizer that gets the job done ! It is NOT a:

Palm Pilot
Treo
Jornada
Pocket PC

That being said, it is excellent for what it does and what it costs. I used to carry little pocket notebooks until they wore out and had to transfer all of the data by hand to another one. Ugh!

Graduated to a Sharp YO-600 that I dearly loved. It died. I went to another Sharp OZ-650 which to me was awesome back in the day. The benefit of a full QWERTY keyboard cannot be overstated. The Intelli-synch sw was a wonder and really enjoyable. It translated ALL of the data from the OZ to a laptop program and back. It died and is out of stock.

Enter the OZ-290HII. It has most of the functionality of the older organizers and is a different interface. I have started to like the stylus method of data entry. Yes the navigation is not intuitive and No it does not have all of the functions of the big boys but it Works!

Now...the Outlook Synch...Great when it works. The caveat is that the defect is on the Outlook side. It will not transfer Expenses nor the Dietary data. And...it is devilishly simple to set up. Really ! Frustrating at first until you know the Secret:

When installing the software and connecting to the unit, follow the instructions Exactly. Now the simplest dumbest thing will still prevent proper synching if you are not careful.

The Cable tip going to the Organizer must go ALL THE WAY in the unit. Push till it just clicks and is flush with the unit. After that...piece o cake.
I installed this thing 6 times till I broke down and called Sharp. They know about the Holy Grail and once I push it all the way in....Bingo!

I think it is a good value for the money for a bare bones organizer that sits unobtrusively on your belt.

No I don't work for Sharp. For the money...buy it...don't like it...reset it and give to the wife or your student child.

Hard to use, user instructions are not easy to read.......2007-03-12

I bought this to replace an older sharp organizer. I liked the old one a lot, but the lines of resoluations were starting to disappear so I order another sharp. The style is different from my old one, this one has a stylus.

The new one is hard to use, the display is hard to read and the user instructions tend to leave out some major details which case some frustrations with trying to set up the organizer. I had to call Sharp and they even told me some of the insturction manuals for this model were
incomplete. I will keep it only because I need something to put all my phone numbers into. But I don't see this becoming something I will use everyday.
