Think of it as duracell and duracell ultra. You could also do Energiser or Energise T2. This is just the one which packs the extra punch. It's just a battery. Nothing more. But it is better than the Ni-MH ones and the other you can buy. Buy it if you take long trips frequently while playing games (like me!)

Simple and just as advertised.......2007-09-07

I'm a guy on the phone all day and I purchased this because in the summers there is a cooling unit running that is so loud I can't quite hear phone conversations. This unit very nicely fixes this problem. I've been using it for two weeks and to my suprise I am still on the first set of batteries. They batteries are very low-cost. It costs me $1.50 to battery-up this amplifier.

I'd recomend it - it's lightweight and completely solves my problem.

Loud but irritating.......2007-09-01

It does a great job of amplifying two-way conversations. The problem is that it has no "off" switch--it turns itself off when it doesn't detect sound. So, if you're having a conversation with someone who is a soft speaker (the main reason I bought the thing!) it turns off--and then you hear even less than without it. So I find myself clearing my throat a lot, just to keep it turned on. It's especially disconcerting when on hold--you can't tell if you're still connected.

The MHA100 is small, compact and easy to use. It works great when the batteries are alive. Since they use THREE Zinc L675ZA hearing aid battereis, they have a limited life (one or two weeks max) once activated by the air. And these puppies are not cheap.

Impractical.......2007-08-24

An amplifier for cell and cordless phones is a great concept for noisy environments and for those hard of hearing, but due to the power conservation design of the product, it is impractical for use.

Plantronics outsourced a good idea into a bad product........2007-07-22

A 2.5 mm amplifier is a great idea. It sure beats a half dozen adapters to hook up a bigger amplifier and expand/reduce the plug size. However the drawbacks outweigh the product design.

First: Zinc/Air batteries start dying the moment they are exposed to air regardless if you use them or not. Not a problem for a hearing aid, which definitely is going to get its value out of the battery but the amplifier should have used a good old standard lithium cell to run it.

Second: As mentioned by others the cut in/ turn off problems are a royal pain. No signal for a few seconds and you lost your amp. That's not just annoying - its a bad design. A simple on/off switch would have done fine.

Better idea - go buy a real 3.5 mm amp and cut the 2.5 mm plugs off, solder the wires, and make a real amp work, preferably one not made by plantronics. It's just plain junk.
