HP has matched this budget-conscious CPU with 256 MB of PC2100 DDR SDRAM, an integrated Intel Extreme graphics chipset with 64 MB of shared (not dedicated) memory, and a surprisingly large 80 GB hard disk. Other data handling tools include a 3.5-inch diskette drive for older or smaller applications and backup needs, a CD-RW drive through which you can play and burn audio CDs and archive information, and a DVD-ROM drive for watching movies.

The Pavilion a210n package does not include a display or speakers, nor does it feature an IEEE 1394 FireWire port (normally used for fast data movement to and from external devices such as digital camcorders). This is a great multimedia computer for the person who is on a budget.My Dad got the pentium4 procceser model.Anyway sometimes it works somtimesit wont't beacause the dsl won't connect.Plus his other computer which is a Pentium2 computer is faster than his new oneso his pentium 2 model from HP and my dell computer are the fastest five computers in the house.But now my Dad is trying to fix his p4 computer because partition magic does not want to work.

This is not a budget conscious machine - HP evidently decided to make up on the price by loading this machine with so much annoying proprietary garbage that the computer constantly is lighting up with my network connection trying to send information about me to HP or someone else who paid for space on my desktop. Given the technical characteristics of the machine, I expected it to be a reasonably fast machine for what my child needs it for - basic web surfing, email, etc. We have several much older machines on our home network, including two with less than half the memory and processor speed, but they are strangely much faster than this nice looking but poorly performing piece of... anyway, I would strongly recommend spending an extra one or two hundred to get a real machine, probably from a real manufacturer. Of the big ticket ($500 or more) items I've bought from HP in the past two years, they're 0 for 3. I don't think there will be a number 4.

Excellent Performance for the Price. .......2004-12-25

I got my computer over a year ago and have had no problems with it. The HP handles anything I ask it to do. In 2003, like tons of other computer users, I had difficulties with viruses and trojan horses, but, after switching to Mozilla, this problem became a thing of the past and has nothing to do with the PC I now use. I've found that for photography and word files this model is ideal and offers a high rate of speed. I usually have about 10 windows open, 2 Word files, and MSN messenger and yet I never have any difficulties with crashes. Overall, I can't say anything bad about this model and don't plan on getting a new PC for another few years. I don't care what the new ones look like, this one is functional and saved me some cash (and continues to).

This computer is not bad at all. Yes, there is no recovery disks included and there is no firewire port, but where are you going to get the 48x cd burner and the dvd player for this price? Hp did do a mistake when they sold these computers without recovery disks, but its not just this model, its ALL the models they are selling. In this computer, there is part of the hard drive that is for recovery so the only thing ou have to do if u want to make a backup, just click and drag. Another thing, many reviewers said they had a problem connecting to the internet....?? What is that about? I bought this computer FLOOR MODEL and a bought a Nec Multysync1555v al for about 800. Never looked back. Never regretted it. Even though it was 1 month being floor model, it ran fine. To be exact, it was floor model at circuit city. The computer is not bad at all. What did disapoint me was the lack of a video card. Don't get me wrong. it "has" a video card (how would it not have a video card!) but the video card is intergraded., meaning its basically built on to the mother board. First thing I did when I bought this was buy a 128 mb video graphic card. Improved graphics, but if you dont run programs like macromedia flash, adobe photoshop, and such that I use, you will not notice the difference.

Overall this is not a bad computer. If you are shopping, copy the price...the specs...look around... and you know you will come back to order it. A computer this good, at a price this good. It's Grrrrrrrrrreeaaaat

This Computer Sucks.......2003-11-12

This system is very slow mainly because it is loaded with tons of spyware that hogs system resources. You think popups are bad on the internet, just wait until you get them when you're not even connected to the web. That's right, HP has advertisments sliding in from the side of the screen at all times. This system also monitors your web habits and sends info back to HP.

Are you interseted in getting rid of the operating system (a proprietary version of XP made especially for HP that is slow as hell), well forget it. HP support offers zero drivers for this system and does not support you if you install any other OS, that includes your own copy of XP. No other OS is possible, no drivers exist anywhere, no support for anything other than the marketing bs system in place, no reformatting of the hard drive, zilch.

I have my old system in the same office that has a 333mhz proccessor and 96 megs of ram and it's faster than this new HP Pavilion a210n!

We're talking about marketing gone very wrong here folks, the main goal of this PC is to market to you.

This computer sucks hard, stay away from it. That's my advice.

This amplifier sounds good, except for the problem of background hiss and some sort of radio interference.

The hiss is persistent and audible with every headphone i've tried, and the radio interference is very bad- the noise changes pitch and loudness depending on the orientation of the amplifier.

Great for Headphone Lovers with Bose Systems!.......2005-03-24

I was so irritated when I discovered my $1200 Bose 3-2-1 Series II system did not come with a headphone jack. Ordinarily, this wouldn't be such a biggie, but we had just purchased a $500 Sony DVD recorder/VHS combo (also, no headphone jack) to pair down our equipment. And guess what? Our DirecTV Tivo DVR doesn't have a headphone jack either! We were S.O.L.

Not a single component had a headphone jack. We could either re-hook one of our junkie DVD players through the system or we were out of luck until I found an article online about this Ramsey Headphone Amplifier.

THANK YOU RAMSEY! It's amazing to me that Bose makes and sells high end stereo systems WITHOUT headphone jacks when they make high end headphones?!@$?? WHAT??? That doesn't make ANY SENSE! Also, Bose informed me that if I plug my Bose headphones into any other branded component, it will lose sound quality. What choice do I have? You can't plug in headphones where there ain't no jack!

Anyway, this Ramsey unit will allow you to use audio cables to plug into your Bose and then you simply plug your headphones into the Ramsey unit. It is the only way to fly when you've got headphones, a Bose system, and no other components with a headphone jack.

We are back to enjoying our wireless headphones again thanks to Ramsey!

I bought 2 a month or so ago, one was perfect and the other was having intermittent noise problem. Getting replacement from Amazon was truely hassle free.
I own another 2 for about 3 years now, one still works perfectly, but the other one is not quite - microphone died so I can't use speaker phone.
I think it is a great product, has all the basic feature I am looking for, but certainly has quality issue.

Cord too short & programming is a pain.......2007-05-12

This phone works fine and the layout/quality is excellent. However the handset cord is way too short and the programming functions are not easy to get to if you don't have the book in front of you. Unless you memorize the programming codes, the book will always be needed each time you need to make a change to the memory presets or even setting the clock. With the LCD display, they could have made this programming more user friendly.

I wanted an MP3 player for the car to use cheap disposable discs
in. I got that and more. Very nice. The only complaint is it does
not recognise I turned off the engine and automatically power-off,

Worst. Player. Ever........2006-07-23

I'm starting to think that the perfect portable CD/MP3 just doesn't exist. Or, if it does, I just can't find it. The in-dash CD player in my car broke so for the six months or so I've been using an iPod but I want to have the capability to listen to an actual CD once in a while rather than navigate 90 million iPod menus.

This CD player couldn't have been a bigger failure. If literally all you care about is having an mp3 of some description in your car, I guess it's not so bad, but if you have "unreasonable" standards like expecting the player to "remember" your preferred volume level or, for that matter, where you left off on a CD when you cut the engine, you'll want to look elsewhere. Frankly, I don't think it's much to ask in this day and age for a CD player to not start over at the beginning of a CD every time you turn the engine on, but maybe I'm the one with mixed up priorities.

The remote control is okay I guess. I'm not nuts about the idea of a rotary-style remote control but you can't really argue about the convenience of being able to jump from one directory to the next (either forward or backward) at the twist of a knob. That being said, volume control on the remote might've alleviated my complaint about the preferred volume levels somewhat. I can appreciate that Sony doesn't want audio distortion but (1) it irritates me when companies try to do my thinking for me (2) most of us aren't hardcore audiophiles because we're buying this stupid player, which should immediately lower the bar for their expectations and (3) we're listening to music in a car... so compromises *must* be made.

Also, there seems to be some sort of technical issue with the player in that it doesn't react well to, I think, wi-fi hotspots. When I drove down a particular highly trafficked road here in Houston, I passed through an area that drove the player haywire. The only thing that I can think of is that the nearby Starbuck's has free Internet and that drives the playback berserk. Skips, pops, distortion and other oddities popped up constantly. Thanks to Sony's stupid idea of making me restart the player everytime I turn it on, I was able to test the CD player in other parts of town and noticed that playback was smooth and basically perfect by comparison (unless you consider my previous gripe concerning the volume levels).

If other people have experienced better results with the player my hat is off, but I'll be returning this player posthaste and strongly recommend you keep looking until you find a decent player. So disgusted am I with this player that I didn't bother with Sony's proprietary ATRAC junk so I've got no opinion on that aspect of the player's functionality.

STRENGTHS: great battery life; anti-skip; digital volume control; equalizer with 3 preset curves; 18 playback modes; digital Mega Bass; Auto Shut Off; car kit with remote control;
plays regular CDs, MP3, WMA, and Atrac3plus files recorded on CD-R, or CD-RW; uses 2 AA batteries. It supports ID3 tagging, info about song title and singer if you properly named music files during CD burning.

WEAKNESSES: Included headphones are OK, not great. I bought Sony MDR-E828LP Fontopia Earbuds with Winding Case. Free CD player case would be nice. SonicStage software consumes a lot of your time for CD burning.

CONCLUSION: With included Sonic Stage software you can copy music CDs to your computer and compress at 132, 105, 66, 64, or 48 kbps (kilobits per second) and burn to a CD. I chose 105 kbps ATRAC3plus compression and burned 18 music CDs onto 1 blank CD!

I've noticed this CD player has better battery life than my Panasonic CD player of the same price category. This CD player offers high quality performance and saves money on batteries. Claims to play 85 hours, which is about right. With included accessories it sales for a great price. Don't buy cheap, unknown brands get Sony! They make the best CD players.

Nice player but the sound is too Low in car.......2004-10-22

I purchased this player 4 days back and I played some MP3 songs in car. When the car is running on road and some noise is there outside, then you feel that that sound is a bit low and cannot hear properly. Also, some hissing is there if you increase the volume of the car casseet player. The headphones in the pack are not good. Only one earpiece sounds and another does not. Also , everytime you start the car, you find that the sound level of the player is muted and have to make it full each and every time.
