You won't want to rely on the system for high-end 3-D gaming or heavy-duty multitasking, but it should suffice for most everything else.

The Pavilion ze4230 features an adequate 40 GB hard disk on which to store your programs and files, and a convenient DVD/CD-RW combo drive through which you can burn and play audio CDs, archive data, and watch the latest movies. No matter what you do, the unit's 15-inch XGA TFT display will convey crisp, clean images to a maximum 1,024 x 768 resolution. HP has even added a 16-bit Sound Blaster Pro-compatible audio chipset and integrated Altec Lansing speakers.

Controlling the Pavilion ze4230 is a snap. The unit features a full-size 88-key keyboard with embedded numeric keypad, a touchpad with on/off button, and a dedicated vertical scroll-up/-down pad. Other amenities include two USB 1.1 ports for plug-and-play peripherals, a parallel port, serial port, VGA and TV outs, an RJ-45 Ethernet jack for fast network and Internet interaction, and a built-in 56K modem for low-speed e-communication.

More than a computer!.......2003-04-14

As a college student, this laptop is a dream. I look at it and think about how this little package outpowers my desktop by far. And the best part: YOU DON'T NEED A DESK! I can do so much and it cost so little. With out a doubt, you get your money's worth. All my friends are jealous because of all the features I got and I paid WAY less than they did. I especially love the ability to turn the mouse pad off with a simple click so that i don't accidently scroll around and the scroll pad is a whiz on the net.

Good machine, but arrived crippled.......2003-02-24

I've owned the ze4230 for about a month and I have been very pleased with it's features and performance, but it arrived with a non functioning CD/RW CDROM drive. The Roxio Easy CD Creator disk sent with the machine is defective and I have been unable to enable the RW features of the CDROM drive. I reported the problem to HP technical support and was promised a new CD by mail within a week. After waiting about 2 weeks without receiving a new CD I called technical support again and was told that the CDs are on back order and they have no idea when they will arrive, but when they do one will be sent me. So, for now I am less than pleased with my computer and HPs ability to fix it.

Great value. Excellent support from Hp on a question I had regarding hooking up the portable to a TV to watch a DVD. The battery life improves after the initial cycles. Excellent machine for the price. I replaced my desktop with this machine and went wireless with a microsoft broad band network card. The only complaint I have is that the cd/dvd rom drive should "pull in" the disc like a car audio cd does.

A solid laptop at a great price........2003-02-04

I picked this machine up after my brand new toshiba notebook died twice in a month. I am happy to say I have never been so impressed with a laptop. It is lightweight and full-featured. The touchpad is so much better than competitors. The screen is big and bright and crystal clear for DVD playback. The lack of a floppy drive is easily overlooked when you use the fast CDRW/DVD combo drive with a good rewritable disk. As a student this machine travels everywhere I go. My only complaint is that the volume buttons on the side are too small and seem fragile. It's not a big deal as there are function keys for volume control on the keyboard. In short, if you are looking for the best bang for the buck, and a good solid laptop, buy this machine. HP has earned my business..

Nice Surprise.......2001-01-01

I thought I did all the research possible to find the right camcorder. After searching online I had firmly decided on the Panasonic PV-L750. I wanted a camcorder with the still picture feature. When I got to the electronics store, the clerk persuaded me towards this RCA model. It was lighter, smaller, has a higher zoom and had a clearer picture. Although I initially thought he was just trying to talk me into a higher priced item, I chose the RCA. I am very pleased with this camcorder...and it's my first! At the store where I bought it, the Panasonic was a little cheaper, but keep in mind that it does not come with the VHS converter. Purchasing it separately would have made it actually made the Panasonic more expensive. I'm having a great time with my camcorder and I love being able to download and email pictures on my computer.

Before making this purchase, I read reviews and I almost did not get this monitor based on how other buyers stated it was hard to program the unit.... My wife did everything with ease. Like any type of battery operated equipment,you have to monitor the batteries with regularity or when needed and weak batteries.... no performance. Great sound, but very delicate system.......2006-12-22

Have owned this system for 3 years, still sounds awesome. The walls shake while watching movies with effects soundtracks. Amazing how the sound comes from the little speakers, which my wife loves because they replaced much bigger speakers with prior system. I have to say, I experienced the same problems as other reviewers initially. Popping noise and then shutting down. Found out that if any of the wires are exposed, will cause a short out of system. In my case it was the existing speaker wires had one small finishing nail thru them(hidden behind trim)which caused problem. Rewired and have had no problems since. My prior system was run through a top of the line Pioneer AV tuner that never had any problems. Like I said, system is very delicate but great sound.

System developed a "popping" & "crackling" sound and would shut itself down.Tried changing cables,cleaning inside reciever, this did not help. Would work for maybe 10 mins and POP & Crack and shut itself down. Paid almost $1000.00 for something I can not use. Onkyo will not return emails. Extremely bad Customer Service!!

Don't Buy!.......2004-04-07

Bought this system, on recommendation, in June 2003. System developed a "popping" sound and would shut itself down. By the beginning of August 2003, I finally got the replacement system and the same problem occurred two months later - October 2003. Since Novemeber 2003, I have been contacting Onkyo, by email & faxing, to have this system replaced, and they have not responded to me. To me, a bad system and bad customer service means a bad company. It is now April 2004 and I still have this broken down system sitting in the corner of my bedroom!

Bought one of this ONKYO LS-V950 10 months ago. It is now broken, turns it self off after 5 seconds, not what you would expect for $900.
