Looks nice, but does not last!.......2006-01-16

This device is thin, light, and aesthetically pleasing - too bad it has not been engineered to last or work well. If you decide to buy it then pay extra for the replacement plan - you'll need it!

My initial problems came when I was burning. I could not move or bump the desk it was on. If I did, I would get a write error - resulting in a ruined disc. I've had this problem before with other burners, but this one was extremely touchy (extemely touchy is an understatement). I tolerated this problem because I do not burn very many discs and I could live with it by burning a disc and then leaving the system alone.

Fast forward 4 weeks: My burner is now unusable! How did this happen you ask? Well, I stored the device with the power cord wrapped around the burner - but I made the mistake of leaving the end of the power plug that goes into the drive plugged in. Apparently the stress from the cord caused the internal power connector to snap (this is a guess since I never dropped, misued, or mistreated the device). The power connector is now rattling in the case... that beautifully designed sleak, slim, and aesthetically pleasing case.

Learn from my mistake - buy something better with your money.

Good for what it does........2005-06-23

The user who complained of "red eyes" should note that there is a red-eye setting on the camera which eliminates these concerns. It makes decent enough pictures, and especially when compared to disposable cameras, you'd really be better off with one of these if you can find it for under $20.

APS cameras are really difficult to find these days, and they have their own pros and cons:

Pros:
- Three ratios for shooting (4x6in, 4x7in, 3.5x10in panorama).
- Loading film is easier than tying a shoelace.
- Index prints with every roll (so you can easily pick out snapshots to make reprints or to enlarge).
- Film is safer from the threats of overexposure, since it's enclosed.

Cons:
- Slightly more difficult to find film for than a 35mm.
- Smaller image area (by about 25%).

I've been reasonably happy with mine, and mostly used it on vacations or for general photography. There's no way I'd recommend this to anyone serious about art photography, so it's funny that the thing can actually be mounted on a tripod.

Takes Nice Pictures - When It's Working........2002-04-02

I purchased the camera in March 2000 and it stopped working promptly after purchase. I figured I'd give it the benifit of the doubt and had it replaced under warranty. Now that the warranty has expired the camera has stopped working again. It's a good litte camera for the money as long as you realize it may not last you very long.

This is a very small camera in size, but LARGE in capability. I consistently get sharp mages with this camera. It is quiet and very unobtrusive. The zoom is smooth and the flash has plenty of power when used with 200 or 400 film. I would recommend it to anyone who wants a camera to carry with them all the time.

Good if your expectations are reasonable.......2002-06-06

I bought this for my home office. Basically, I was looking for a small, attractive unit with CD-radio-tape functions.

The footprint is small, taking up about a 18-inch area. Not bad.

The look is nice. In order to get the smooth contour to the system some ergonomics suffer. For instance, the tape buttons are placed almost vertically on the front of the unit, so when you push a button (stop, pause, play, etc.) you tend to push the entire unit back a bit. Annoying at first, but once I got used to it and used less force I stopped minding.

OK, the sound: there is no treble tone control, although there is a bass boost. I use the base boost when listening to music and turn it off when listening to spoken word (talk radio, books on tape, etc.). Works well for me. The music sounds fine (although you shouldn't expect this to replicate the sound of larger units with spatially distant speakers -- the stereo separation here is small -- about a foot). I have had no problem with any audio book I've listened to, as long as the base boost was turned off.

By the way, turning the bass boost on and off is pretty easy -- just hit one button and you're done.

The radio presets are fine, but they are not represented by separate buttons (i.e., one button for each preset station). Instead, there is one preset button and by hitting it over and over, you "scroll" through the presets you've programmed. This is kind of irritating.

The radio reception is fine, especially if you're used to listening to popular, powerful stations. I can get my local NPR station fine, but a couple of other local public radio stations -- including the classical music station broadcast by a local college -- come in with a lot of static. So I'd say the reception is fine, but not extraordinary. (All this might have to do with where you live and how you position your unit, of course.)

All in all, I'm satisfied with this purchase. I didn't expect a lot since it looks nice and is inexpensive. I should also mention that I don't use this as my primary media device, only as an office unit. So my expectations have been very adequately met.

In short: This is the sort of inexpensive, small, multifunction unit that works well in an office cubicle, in the garage on the workbench, in the laundry room, etc. It won't replace a component-based stereo system, but at this price and this size, you shouldn't expect it to do so.

RCA a disappointment........2002-05-06

I purchased this product because I wanted a 3-in-1 player for the kitchen. CD's sound great; the radio is just OK; but the corker was the sound for the tapes. Ugh! They are so muffled with this machine that you can't understand any words. There is no tone adjustment. Forget the talking books! Did I get a lemon? I sure wish I could find out who to talk to! I could have paid less with a different brand. I thought it was "safe" to buy RCA before actually hearing it. Buyer beware!

I expected much better sound, even for the price. I bought a Philips Boom Box for my other son for less. That one sound sooooo much better! This RCA sounds like it's coming thru a tin can. Extremely disappointed!

A friend of mine has this little marvel of modern technology, and I'm doing some serious lusting after this television. The picture is so sharp and clear, it's like looking out a picture window onto any scene imaginable.

The picture-in-picture feature is easy to use and presents an entirely new way to view multiple media. It features 2-tuner picture-in-picture with channel search, 3-D Y/C digital comb filter, up to 850 lines of horizontal resolution, fine-pitch viewing screen and component video inputs, according to the manufacturer.

Accessories made especially for the television may also be purchased, and they include audio and video cables, power strips and protection and a truly fancy remote control system, but my friend just has the regular remote.

Believe me, you haven't seen television until you've seen the Panasonic PT-56SX30 56" Projection TV. And, after you have seen it, you won't want to view television any other way.
