I absolutely love this camera. I paid $170 3 years ago and it was a great investment. I have never had any problems with it. The zoom is the best feature about this camera. I've been able to take some awesome pictures of the moon with 1600 speed film. Great camera!

Absolutley beautiful shots.......2003-02-07

I took this on a trip down the Rhine with a friend. She had her Cannon EOS Rebel 2000 and I gotta tell you, all my shots came out much better than hers and I paid $200.00 less! The colors were more vivid, the shots were sharp and in perfect focus, even the zoom shots.
My mother used this camera at my wedding and her shots came out better than the photographers! And she usually takes horrible pictures! (She can consistently get her thumb in every shot!)
What a great camera.
However.....
The lens cover tends to stick open and I am afraid the lens will get scratched. Also, it doesn't have the night portrait mode and I really thing that is a great mode to have for travel.

My Samsung Maxima 105 GLM is a fine zoom at a great price........2001-12-29

I read prior reviews of the Samsung 105 where complaints of missed shots were made. My Samsung 105 GLM was bought & tested by me before this review. I'd had two automatic tiny point & shoots including a non-zoom Konica (a heckuva fine camera, too) that was used by my wife for about a dozen years. I'd learned to depress the shutter button halfway for a split second to allow preset commands and auto focus to work properly and never had a missed shot even on a jet boat in Hell's Canyon white water! This is in the Samsung manual!

My experience with the S-105 GLM proved it to be a solid- if tiny & pocket sized, full-featured quality device for comparatively little money. No, I am not in any camera business nor am I affiliated with Samsung or Amazon, but I have been a camera semi-pro for much of my 80 years! My work had been used, too, in many court cases when I was sworn.

Decent camera at a decent price.......2001-12-18

I got this camera just recently and must say that it is exactly what it appears to be - a good camera for a price that won't have you cringing when you get the bill - I tried out a few "zoom" cameras before this, and I was much more impressed with the zoom in this camera (it was very smooth whereas the others tended to be slightly jerky). The camera itself is also very user friendly.

Auto Focus Defective!!.......2001-11-10

The Auto focus was malfunctioning. It take pictures most of the time. But in some situations, it does not take the picture how much ever you press the shutter. (I returned mine)

The zoom buttons should be designed away from the shutter.

Piece of crap!.......2004-02-26

I got this for my birthday and I chose it because it had the best sound of the under $60 boomboxes at the store I went to. The bass is pretty good and it has a repeat button which was a feature I wanted. But 3 days after I opened it up, the cd player quit working: "No DISC--NO DISC--NO DISC". The design also leaves much to be desired as it has too many buttons (some of which it turned out are just decoration) and the lay-out is very confusing. I actually had to read the instruction manual to figure out the cd player, which normally is easy to use on most radios. I may have just had bad luck, but until some good reviews appear here, I would stay away from this one.

Excellent quality for the price!.......2004-01-13

Mine's worked flawlessly for over 3 years now, the picture is very sharp using DVDs, VCR, or cable TV. The reception of local stations before we got cable was admittedly weak, so an external powered antenna is probably a good idea. I have the sound coming out through a Sony component stereo system, so all in all it's a very adequate setup.

My only wish is that it had S-video or component video inputs for the DVD. Sure, about 2-3 times the screen size would be nice too but then that would be anywhere from 4 to 12 times the cost! This is more than enough for a non-TV-addict like me who basically uses TV about 2-3 times a week to watch rented videos.
