Very Nice Sound Quality.......2007-09-20

I bought this mp3 player because it seemed to be getting some of the best reviews on Amazon (and elsewhere) at the time for the price (though it was about $240 then), and received high marks for music quality and ruggedness. It has lived up to its reputation on both counts. It's very sturdy and the sound quality has been just wonderful, with a built in equalizer and other sound enhancing functions. I also very much appreciate how easy it is to load music, movies and photos onto the device. It simply shows up as a portable storage device in Windows and you can drag items on or off it at will. It's wonderful.

There are a few draw backs for me. (1) The user interface can be a little clumsy. (2) You can only see your music in the folder structure for the actual files. It doesn't read your music tags and allow you to sort through your music in terms of genre or albums. If your folders are by artist name and then album name (like post people), that's the only way you can browse through your music. I've had to make a playlist to, say, let the device randomly play all my instrumental jazz songs. This to me is the biggest drawback.(3) There's no video line out, so you can't plug it into a TV and watch a movie. (4) You need a subpack to charge or add music to your device. It's not terrible, but you have to make sure you have it with you when you travel or there's no way to charge it up. (5) It doesn't show you album art or album release year in the display.

Awesome music player, best I could find.......2007-06-28

I mainly play music, I don't do video or photos. For what I use it for, this player is great.

Why is it so good?
- Drag and drop music and make your own folders. No need to use any lame player to do annoying syncing (like iTunes). It is a USB Mass storage device.
- Great sound quality, this thing sounds good.
- Solid contruction, had to scratch, looks slick.
- Battery life is so good I still don't have a car charger! (had over a year)
- USB Host. You on vacation and need more room on your camera? Just plug it into this device and copy them over, and delete them from camera.
- Codec support. Plays almost all music format, and a lot of video (see website for complete list). Don't need to convert your library, just copy everything over and it will play.
- Lots of features, voice recording works great, radio, etc.. etc..

What could be improved?
- Needs that lame thing plugged in bottom to charge, hook up to pc, and to use aduio out. Build that stupid thing in the device please.
- video screen isn't great comparted to Zune, Toshiba, or latest iPod.

This MP3 player is a better than any in the market right now as far as playing music is concerned. The sound is amazing and can be configured using equalizers and BBE. This player is filled to the brim with features. Supports a wide range of audio formats. Its amazing and has the potential to throw Apple out of business, if the following are corrected:

- Subpack is nuisance.. to upload songs, charge, line in/out you need to plugin another component. All these should be integrated into the player.
- Subpack and tiny rubber stopper can get easily misplaced.
- Browsing by directory is fine with me as i have all my songs properly organized by artists and album. For those who dont have it organised can find it difficult to use the player as you cannot sort by artist, album or genre.
- Need some vibrant colors on the body - this will enhance the looks of the player.
- Requires strong marketting. Its Apple and Creative everywhere, no one has even heard of COWON.

I will recommend this to everybody. You get the best value for money.

very decent hard-drive based mp3 player.......2007-03-09

I love this mp3 player. It died on me after a year and 3 months, though. I feel that it is my fault because i've been using the Rockbox open-source firmware for quite sometime. So I guess you can say that i didn't use it as originally intended. However the battery life was beautiful. The screen isn't as big as i feel it should be, so that could affect some people. but what really kept me to it was the sound quality. Just be sure to get a decent pair of headphones to really appreciate them.

Good player, but terrible docs.......2007-03-06

This is my first MP3 player, so I really am a newbie to all of this. If you want a review about technical aspects and sound quality, other reviews are much better. This review is pretty much from the perspective of an MP3 player ignoramus.

Pros:
* The sound is great and the screen is easy to read and use.
* The case is sturdy and won't crack if you look at it sideways

One the down side...
* The cover for the port attachment is small and isn't permenantly attached so it's easy to lose and hard to get back in.
* the docs are terrible. What's there is badly translated into english and the font used in the printed docs is so small that it's unreadable.
* The "Getting Started" guide isn't in any order, so I didn't know what to do in what order.
* The instructions for using JetShell (the tool to add music to the player) don't actually say "Drop your files here, idiot, and they're added to your player."
* The earphones that come with the player are hard metal and are really not comfortable.

Again, this is the feedback of a total newbie who loves the player, but is also uptight about writing good docs in general.

I don't regret this purchase for a second.

ok product - terrible customer service.......2005-08-10

Great machine. I've used it for extra storage for a long time. It's put up with a great deal different kinds of ubuse such as heat, slight impact, dust and smoke. After about 3 years of loyal service, it seemed to die. I did have to call customer service for a week before they responded but they pointed me in the right direction and saved the day! The next one that I buy will be a QPS.

Nice, small, portable drive.......2002-08-18

I bought this drive to free up space on my main drive (C). I've transfered all of my mp3's and all of my photos to this drive without any problems at all. This Que! drive operates faster than my main drive. Instllation was painless. It comes packaged nicely, and I really like the carry case. This drive is a nice addition to my 10 gig main drive. I've used it for a month & I highly recommend it.

A good disk drive for the buck.......2002-06-14

I just bought this external drive and I found it to be a great product. It's easy to install, provides enough extra space for all of my MP3's, images, and game software, and didn't put a big hole in my wallet! The only drawback that I have found so far is that it loads data slowly at times. I also like how well the casing goes with my PC and that it doesn't take much space on my already crowded computer table.

Pray it works.......2002-10-17

I bought a QPS back in April, I had configuration issues right away.
I followed the tech support format and emailed them. Giving them benefit of possibly being busy or email issues I emailed four times over four weeks from seperate servers. They do not respond through support.
Now the hardware failed, I repeated the email attempts with no response and have phone support three times in two weeks to give up in Cue after 45 minutes. No 1-800 number.
Now I have a very high phone Bill coming and a useless QPS device that I will eat also.
Please don't allow companies like this to thrive, which they all too commonly do in todays market.
Buy elsewhere.

disappointment!.......2002-04-10

I was very disappointed by the performance of this product. I have used it twice, both with poor results, and it is now being returned. I had difficulty with it playing a few songs, shutting itself off, and refusing to play again without a lot of coaxing. Once I get it started again it will do the same thing. I found it was also tempermental about forwarding to the next song, and on the first time out it was skipping by song #3. It's too bad, because when did work, it seemed like a nice player.

The CD player is great and it has yet to skip, but my major complaint are the headphones. They are so small that I dont see how any male could wear these. They are the perfect size for my 2 year old. Other than that, it is a great buy.

I bought this cd player and the first copy was broken, after I sent it back and fixed that little mess it works great. The sound quality is good, the antiskip time is excelent. The earphones are X-phones which I hate and make the volume WAY to loud. Otherwise a pretty decent product.

I bought this player for my car, and that's exactly where it's best suited. The functions are great on it; the bass boost gives a noticable difference in sound, the play modes are great, and it has a play resume function (if you stop playing a cd, when you push play again later, it starts exactly where you left off). It is a very solid player, but the headphones that are included are a cheap rip off of the Sony headphones that go behind your head. These headphones don't fit right on your head, so the ear pieces tend to fall and get uncomfortable, and the band that goes behind your head gets in the way. I can't imagine they would work at all well if you plan to jog while listening to music. Plus, since the earpieces aren't sufficiently pressed against your ears, the sound doesn't sound as good as it could with a better pair of headphones. If you're buying this player for your car, it's a great buy. But if you're looking for a good pair of headphones along with a player, i advise you to look around for a better pair.

Excellent all-Around.......2002-10-17

I have owned this palmcorder for over a year and have never had any problems of ANY sort! I have used it to film 4th of July celebrations (excellent sound by the way....you could still hear and understand people talking even with the fireworks we were lighting!)....Christmas parties...Honeymoon in Hawaii on a catamaran (you could actually see the dolphins under the water with this camera!).
The only drawback is that it does NOT have a light. However, as long as there is light on in the room it works great! The only time I had a problem with lighting was trying to use it at midnight in a minivan w/o turning on any interior lights (well-DUH!). However, even in the van you could still clearly understand what people were saying...EVEN above the engine noise! I have also used it to film a stage play and again...I had none of the problems other people have mentioned with the light glarring and blurring.
Overall I must give this camera an A+++!! I've never gotten tired holding it while I filmed...the adapter has been a life-saver so we can watch the party immediately on the VCR...plus I love the option of A/C or D/C power!
I love this camera and think it's a SUPER deal for the price! Unbeatable!!!

Quality Assurance-type Evaluation.......2002-01-24

After carefully analyzing the two prior reviews, it appears there is conflicting history. My previous experience with Panasonic products is most positive. We have a decided problem with sounds in that I am deafened by damage to the acoustic nerve. This would be a factor since there is little or no sound discrmination. Do believe we will purchase one of these units for home and business (Insurance Claims) use. bk

hey i like it i like the tv thing im able to keep track of any thing in motion like a fressbee or my friend thrwing a stick in the trees and and if its too bright and sunny out side i found out by emermenting with the palmcoder to close the tv thing and look thru the black and white eye scop thing :) it does not have a buil in light so when i recorded our churches christmas cantanda when the churches lights are on no problem :) but when the very brigh stage spot lights we our curch borrwed and the main lights our out or dimmmed the people in the bright spot lights look like glowing light bulbs but as the spot lights go dimm you are able to see the people faces the back light i cant see how it works hardley but hey as long as it records perfect and good quilety sound that's fine :) (...) i do not see any thing wrong wih the sound it sound clear to me (...)

Poor Sound Quality.......2001-11-08

We purchased this unit to replace our old (about 10 years) VHS camera - also a Panasonic - which operated well for many years. We wanted something inexpensive, and simple to use; without all the "bells and whistles", and with the convenience of simple popping the tape (via the adapter) into our VCR player. Operation is relatively simple, and the picture quality is okay (not great, but what you would expect for a camera at this cost). However, the built-in microphone produces much worst than would be expected quality during playback - worst than our 10 year old camera. In fact, it is so poor, that we probably will not keep this camera.
