Power: The power LED lights up when the switch is powered on.
Link/Act: The Link/Act LED blinks when data is being sent or received through the port. When the LED is off, there is no data being transferred through the port.
Speed: The speed LED blinks when that port is transmitting at 1000 Mbps. If the LED is not lit, the port is transmitting at 10 or 100 Mbps.
FDX: If the FDX (Full Duplex/Collision) LED is lit up continuously, the connection made through the corresponding port is running in full duplex mode. If the LED is blinking, the port is experiencing data collisions. Infrequent collisions are normal. If this LED is blinking often, there may be a problem with your connection.

Does the job!.......2007-06-10

The only problem I have with this unit, is after a few months of using this product the fan started making nosies. It got to the point I switched my fanless DLINK switch that was in my grage to the inside the house. With it being in the garage it does the job I need, but only have to put up with the sound in the garage now.

I have a WRT54G and I wanted the EG005W that is pictured so I can stack it. I should have read the reviews first, I am not going to return it, I need to use it now. REally disappointed with Amazon.

Item shipped not the same as one pictured.......2006-10-23

I also bought this item to stack with my other linksys products, what I recieved is something else that doesn't stack with the equipment I own.

I had to send it back, I found the style pictured locally but the fan noise is louder than my computer. I'll probably disable the internal fan just so I can use it though!

Not The Same Item Viewed.......2006-10-21

I am a little disappointed that the item viewed on this site is NOT the item you recieve. I purchased this item because I like the design, and also the name. I have a linksys cable modem, and a linksys wireless access point of the same design. I purchused this item so that all three devices would be stackable. Well, the item recieved today is the "new" design which does me no good. I am sure the device works fine, but I really needed the old design.

Defective unit & Linsys run around.......2006-08-27

The unit has not work since day 1. It crashes my computer and places it in a perpetual rebooting cycle. I called Linksys customer support severak times. They all agreed the unit needs to be replaced. First time I called the person was in India and the other was in Philipins. They instructed me to go to their web site and under the Warrant tab enter my information and get an RMA# through internet. So far, the RMA (only this site. Other parts of the Linksys URL I tried work fine) site has been down and they have so far refused to issue a number by the phone.

Better than expected!.......2007-03-20

Good:
This thing sounds amazing, very clean and clear! Played any of the MP3s I tried, ogg played no problem, and WMA files encoded in WMA 9.2 worked great. Great Xvid support (Simple or Handheld profile) tested at 720, 640 and 320 widths. Worked fine with the 2 DivX files I tried. The TV Out function is great. If the files are encoded at a decent bit rate (900+kbps) output is near DVD quality. The built in screen is good, nothing amazing but very good for the price. The camera works ok, it is comparable to a cell phone camera. The video camera worked great, above my expectation. The FM radio worked no problem once I set it to be in the USA. The photo viewer worked fine to view the images I took with the camera. Upload speed of the device is fast averaging about 1GB a minute. The menu speed and browsing of files is nice and fast as well. The included cradle is a great idea and very useful.

Bad:
The navigation once inside the various apps can be a pain. Getting all the options down can be difficult and remembering what button does what can be a tricky. Even getting out of an app can be hard. Loading 400 directories and 2000 songs takes about 8 seconds and sometimes has to rescan before it loads (20-30 seconds). Only supports reading MP3 tags, WMA and OGG just show the filename. Seems B-VOPs cause choppiness in Xvid video, requiring them to be encoded using a Simple or Handheld profile (Xvid Config). Time only in 24 HR format. The Free Space information on the SupportPlus firmware seems to not be accurate. The Sorell firmware fixed this but created audio sync issues as well as broke XviD support. Videos that worked perfectly on SupportPlus FW didn't work on Sorell FW. The device did freeze once while playing a video running Sorell FW v2.26.

Thoughts:
Overall I'm very happy with this purchase. It doesn't support play lists or any tags other than ID3 and MP3 browsing/sorting is done file level. Everything I have is arranged in directories so it wasn't an issue for me. For music I would suggest converting to wma v9.2 96kb for maximum space/sound quality using dBpoweramp. For video I suggest VirualDUB using Xvid @ 500kb to 600kb (Simple/Handheld Profile), 640xXXX, deinterlaced, MP3 audio @ 96kb or 128kb. If you want to output video to the TV I would suggest a slightly higher bit rate 750kb+. I also would recommend the SupportPlus 2.20 firmware over the Sorell SV-10 2.25. or 2.26 firmware.

not too shabby!.......2006-08-27

pro: un-advertised xvid support, great line-in, good line-out, works with sorell oem sv-10 2.26k firmware, INSANE VALUE versus other media players, good battery life, lots of goodies included, camera surprisingly functional, player does what its supposed to, and does so fairly well.

con: weak xvid support, clumsy gui, bizarre fixed-shuffle (shuffles songs same way each time!) horrible transcoding software (get erightsoft's super- its free!) included demo video on player is xvid and as such plays poorly, buttons feel cheap, no multi-task except for fm radio and text view (fw 2.26,) "supportplus" is non-supportive (no email response, no supportplus branded firmware,) lcd stays on when usb connected, doesn't get particularly loud, and my 20gb is filling up fast!

this is a rebranded sorell sv-10 media player and as such, the first thing you should do is upgrade to sorell's v2.26k firmware. it adds a text viewer and fixes numerous little bugs that would have made me rate this pmp a 3, like the lcd-wake; the 2.26k firmware prevents it from registering the function of the button used to wake the device. the xvid support is not mentioned on most retailers, and excited me when i discovered it plays, but quickly realized why it was left off of the description... low fps, especially on 640/720x480 files. divx 3.11 decoding is mildly glitchy but watchable. divx 5 is pristine, even with 720x480 you still get a sharp, fast 30 fps. the line in is sensitive enough to use as a small field recorder for sampling work. the case is snug and classy, and the player itself is as slick as it can get. in this price range, this is the freakin' cream of the crop. if they could work out a few of the minor annoyances, i would recommend this to everyone ever.
