Good, but SLOW.......2003-06-21

I tried this phoneline network system for the first the time. The good thing is it is easy to use and requires no cables running around thehouse. The bad thing is it is exremely slow. Setup was a breeze but the speed was so slow it went slower than thw actual broadband modem. If you really want easy and speed you should go wireless. 802.11b has become so cheaper the system might be cheaper than the phoneline system. Even better is 802.11g, which is about 54 times faster than this phoneline system. I bought 54g and gave this system to a friend who is trying to network his first computers.
The verdict: This system is ok, but if you want a system without wires that is also easy and faster go 802.11b if you have a budget and if you have a little more money get 802.11g(also reffered to as 54G)

Bad customer service & out-of-date firmware.......2003-05-24

I purchased and successfully installed this product in September 2002. I was quite satisfied with it until recently. The problem began when I switched DSL providers. I cannot get the router to function properly with the new DSL service. I've gone so far as to have a networking technician out to look at it. As near as we can tell, the router is not picking up a gateway from the new DSL service.

My extreme dissatisfaction with Linksys is (1)because their customer service is very poor and (2)because they have not updated the firmware for this product in over 2 years.

With regard to (1), Linksys apparently does not assign case numbers to help calls. Consequently, when I tried a fix that didn't work and called back in, I would have to start from the beginning ("Tell us what the lights on the router are doing. Tell us what the lights on the modem are doing. Now power cycle the modem." Etc.) with a different technician. The technicians have a very limited knowledge. One went so far as to say she couldn't help me further because Internet Explorer 6 doesn't work well with the router. That's bologna; the browser is just a container for information. Another kept trying to pawn the problem off on my DSL provider even though I have a connection via the modem.

With regard to (2), PPPoE protocols can change. Given that I can't get a gateway for my service, maybe they need to update their firmware.

I'm going to get rid of this router and do what I should have done in the first place, hard-wire some CAT5 cable in my house. My recommendation to others is that you look at different solutions. It seems that Linksys does not want to provide sufficient support for this product.

HomePNA will be passed up by wireless options, the new electrical networking protocol, etc. So, it might not make sense to purchase it anyway. Perhaps Linksys is just focusing its attention on newer technologies.

Good Router.......2003-05-04

I bought this router along with two Linksys Phonecards. I initially had problems setting up the router because the instruction manuel was not very detailed and my firewall was interferring with the router. It took me several days but I got it up and running. Flashed the firmware to the latest version which is avaiable on the linksys website for better performance and now the two computers in my house are sharing my DSL connection.

i got this camera with a rebate that made it [price] in early 2001... it's a good camera within it's parameters, which are narrow... i bought it for the kids to use and it takes ok snaps... there's better options out there today...

this camera is a great looking camera and a great buy... it comes with an A/C adapter but u should also purchase a 32MB smart media... the resolution isnt the best but everythin else works great the only other thing i would like to say is watch the battery it runs down in like a hour or two (with the LCD screen)... oh yea the battery also comes recharged so u can start usin it right when u get it 4 outa five stars just cause of the resolution other wise a great camera i would recommend to everyone

High gain directional antenna that extends your wireless range........2005-09-27

I was searching for a directional antenna that would allow me to connect to a wireless access point near my home. My Linksys PCMCIA card with its built-in antenna was able to connect only during low noise [radio frequency (RF)] conditions.

I purchased the SMC high power PCMCIA wireless card (with removable antenna) and then purchased the SMCHMANT-6 antenna. It came with all of the cables and connectors needed to connect to the PCMCIA card. The results were impressive. Using NetStumbler software, I saw a considerable gain in the received signal strength using the high power card and external antenna over the Linksys wireless card. The combination also revealed other access points that were not visible with the Linksys card alone.

I would recommend the SMC high power card with the Hawking HAI15SC Hi-Gain 15dBi Corner Antenna if you are on the fringe of your access point's signal. I use the combination and have never experienced a loss of connection.

I love these headphones.......2007-07-14

I've had these headphones for at least two years and I love them. I'm so disappointed that Sony doesn't make them anymore. I want to buy a couple more pairs. I see no reason to spend more, when these sound so good and are comfortable and also reasonably priced. It seems like whenever something is really good and also not expensive, it is discontinued so that people are forced to buy something else. I remember when you used to find a good product and could buy the same thing a few years later.

These are _not_ the headphones for your $2,000 stereo. But they are perfect for your computer's sound card or your cheapie MP3 player.

I'm an audio professional and I own great headphones at my studio but for home? -- I always use this pair!

As audio professionals know, the "over the ear" feature is essential for long-term listening because it blocks outside sound, allowing you to turn-down the volume and save your ears. With earbuds (or "on the ear" headphones), you have to crank the volume so high it damages your ears. Good, cheap over-the-ear headphones are not so easy to find.

And I've used them since 2003 (it's 2007, now) with no problems, whatsoever, in almost daily use.

Specifically, I use them for listening to music while I'm at my computer (not to bother the spouse) They'd also be very good for listening to TV in bed for the same reason.

I've not used them this way, but they would be a good alternative to those expensive noise-canceling headphones in an airplane (if you don't mind the size) since the over-the-ear does cut out a fair-amount of noise.

What these headphones are NOT:
* audiophile (not bad, though)
* exercise (too big)
* for status seekers (too plain)

What the ARE:
* good
* cheap
* dependable

I Hate These Headphones!.......2005-10-09

I bought these Sony headphones after my old ones broke, they were also from Sony but a different model and I had them for years and I liked them a lot more then this model because the sound quality was a lot better. These newer headphones may be more comfortable and more attactive looking but the sound is not all that great! In the beginning they were good for listening to one of those books recorded on tape and though I at first I thought the headphones were okay for music I then became very disappointed with poor sound quality which is too low, goes in and out and is really annoying and I think I will have to find some new headphones with better sound quality. The fluctuating sound level isn't as bad when listening to an audiobook but it's very noticeable when listening to music and hopefully I can find an inexpensive headphone set that has good sound quality!

Great for the Price.......2005-07-11

I bought a pair of these a little over a year ago now, to use with my walkman on a trip out of state with my family. I didn't really pay much attention to the quality of the sound back then, all I knew was that they were comfortable and blocked out my surroundings pretty decently for being only $25 at the local Sam Goody. Since the trip I never used them too much and let them get tossed around my room. They stayed very in tact, surprising to me since I've never heard much good about Sony's headphones' toughness. About six months ago though I got an iRiver h320 mp3 player, and since I've been in need of headphones more and more lately I've been using these until I can get my cash saved up to purchase some Etymotic noise cancelling buds. The sound is great, for the price range at least. I think having an adjustable EQ helps with the so commonly griped about bass surplus and muddy mids/ highs. I'd recomend these if you can adjust the EQ settings on your device and need some pretty decent phones for under $30.

I have had these headphones for close to a year and I have not had one single problem. They are comfortable, sound phenomenal, and have a long cord that is perfect for computers. The price is the most outstanding quality; because the comfort and sound are what you would expect from a $100 pair. I have told my friends about these and they would all agree with me. Great price for an excellent set of headphones that you will not be disapointed with.
