What are the two big things with KVM switches?? How many computers does it let you control and how is the video resolution.

Now, everyone in the world talks about "the video resolution is decent", but no one is every specific. I have been through MANY KVM switches over the years and yet to find a decent one, until now.

I got this, hopes that the good reviews were right - and that this could handle a higher resolution. It can - and it's flawless!!

In my particular case, I have a 24" widescreen monitor and wanted to control 3 machines. My preferred resolution is 1680x1050. I plugged in my machines and the picture quality, at that resolution is THE SAME as when the cable is plugged directly in. I am particularly finicky as I use my computer a lot. And I'm telling you, this KVM has virtually no impact to video quality - which I've never seen before in a KVM.

ONE BAD THING:
Just like most of the other home/small-business use KVM, they still require use of PS/2 style mouse and keyboard connections. I don't have a PS/2 mouse OR keyboard anymore - and also, the PC's don't have those connections either. So that meant a handful of little adapters. EXCEPT - the keyboard USB to PS/2 - something is screwy with it, it won't acknowledge the keyboard. I tried multiple machines and multiple keyboards. So, I'm going to have to go and try to find a classic PS/2 style keyboard as USB keyboards don't work with these units (doesn't work on the 4-port D-Link either).

BOTTOM LINE: if you are getting a KVM and your primary concern is video quality, get this one!!

Linksys disappoints.......2007-01-09

I had been using a Linksys 2 port KVM switch for years without a single problem so when it came time to add another computer, I naturally went with the Linksys 4 port model. Unfortunately, the 4 port model doesn't work nearly as well. The softkey controls on the 2 port model was a simple double click of any ctrl key. The 4 port model is a confusing and often times unsuccessful ctrl+alt+shift+ . Not only that, the keyboard and mouse appear to 'blink' out pretty regularly. Mostly the mouse, which will often freeze. This is quite annoying and I'm ready to throw this piece of product right into the trash bin. And I'm being nice!

LOOKOUT: It doesn't work with IBM.......2006-01-30

I've used KVMs over the years and this is the first one I've seen that doesn't work with IBM PCs. The manual suggests it's IBM's fault. Returning this POS.

Gets the job done.......2005-01-09

From a functional standpoint, this is one of the best "non-industrial" KVM switches I've used. Switches between multiple OS's (W2K/XP/Linux) with no issues. Seems perfectly happy with both my antique IBM keyboard and my brand new Logitech wireless mouse (with USB->PS2 adapter and the standard number of buttons). Ergonomically, it could be better, though. As other reviewers have noted, cables attach to this puppy on 3 of 4 sides. When set up with the max of 4 machines, it has 15 cables attached to it. Since it weighs all of a half-pound, it's pretty much sitting where ever the cables want it to be, not where you want it to be. I was able to get it to stay where I want it without an utter mess by careful routing of cables and use of lots of cable ties. Also, again because of the light weight of the device, you need to hold it in place while depressing the selector button, or it tends to walk away from you. And finally, I'm not a fan of the hotkey combination required to activate the device: Alt, Ctrl, Shift, PC#(1-4), Enter. Five keystrokes - you've gotta be joking! I'm a much bigger fan of the Belkin way (ScrlLk, ScrlLk, Up/Down). Pity their current products are so dicey.

Extremly reliable drive, good for burning multiple cds and playing dvds. Didn't really cause me a problem. Only problems that existed came from the OS (windows ME uggh!). So, all in all this is a reliable and worthy purchase at a good cost.

I didn't order a refurbished product.......2003-02-26

This product simply ceased to work after about a month. The manufacturer's solution was to have me ship it back, and they would rework the drive, or replace it with a refurbished drive. I can see where this is headed, and I don't have time for the round-a-round. First dissapointment with this site.

Very Reliable Drive.......2003-01-29

Any negative reviews about this drive is inaccurate. I'm not sure if the drive is compatible with Windows 2K, but just because it isn't doesn't mean it deserves a 1 star rating. The drive itself works great (for Win XP Pro). Why not just opt for the CD-RW/DVD combo. Its a great deal for what is basically two drives in one and it certainly won't generate as much heat as two drives in one computer. Although 32x isn't the max speed you can get, you spend about 15-45 extra seconds burning a CD with a 48x drive-big wow. As for the manufacturer, Samsung is a very reliable and well-known manufacturer. I can assure you that Samsung is not a 2nd rate manufacturer of electronics. They have been in the electronics business for decades. In the past, they sold many of their products under their name in their home nation, Korea, and most of their products were sold under different brands in other countries i.e. USA. It was only until the past several years that Samsung decided to sell under its own name. To make a long story short, Samsung makes great reliable products and an especially reliable CD-RW/DVD drive.

Doesn't quite work!.......2002-12-22

This drive turns out to be very difficult to install in a Windows 2000 system... possibly due to a driver issue. My technician finally solved it, but he told me never to buy anything from a 2nd-rate manufaturer (read, stick with HP, Sony or Toshiba). The drive has a lot of trouble reading even CD-ROMs. I'm not sure whether it's a problem with the internal mechanism, or something with the software. I often get the "no disc found" error, even though the same disc will work in other PCs. My advice is save yourself trouble and money and do not buy this drive.

Solid drive.......2002-08-25

I've had great success with this drive after purchasing it three weeks ago. I have a small Dell tower with only one 5.25" bay, so I decided to go the combo route. It installed with no problems. I've burned music cd's from MusicMatch Jukebox and Nero (the latest version of which recognizes the drive instantly), running Windows 98 SE. CD-r's burn in less than 4 minutes. I've also used CD-rw's at 4x, made multisession disks, video cd's, erased cd-rw's--no problems at all. The drive has JustLink coaster protection and an 8 mb buffer, which seem to work very well as I've not had an error yet. When burning at high speed, the drive makes an irritating high-pitched noise, but it is reasonably quiet otherwise. If you are looking for a near-silent drive, look elsewhere.

DVD's sometimes stutter w/the included PowerDVD, but that is probably because the bundled PowerDVD demands a lot of CPU power and I've got a PIII 550. My ATI DVD player demands less processing power and they play fine.

Great sounds Comfortable wear, caution about durability........2005-08-02

I have owned these headphones since 2002. I have also owned some over-ear grados, sennheisser 560s and Etymotic Headphones. Even for the most discriminating audiophiles, the sound quality is superb. The large 50mm driver and biocellulose diaphram deliver an extremely accurate sound reproduction. Some people complain that Sony's can't give the same warmth of sound as some German and American head-phones, but I disagree, these phones are among the best I have owned and they are extremely comfortable for extend wear despite their enormous size.

I am reviewing these phones because I want people to know that it doesn't deserve a 5 star rating because it isn't that durable. I listen to head phones more than most people do, since I probably have them on my head about 8 hours a day (due to the nature of my work) My complaints are the head band, which deforms after wearing it for a long period of time and now I have noticed that the metal attachment is cutting through the leather slightly and probably will need to be replaced. The other problem I have had is with the cable.
When the sound started to cut out, I initially thought there was a problem with my system. Then I tried them in my ipod and same problem. Long story short, after a couple of calls to Sony's customer service and some diagnostic efforts, it turns out the pure copper cord isn't very durable like braided wires. Probably due to metal fatigue, it lost connectivity about an inch into the phones. Make sure that you are really careful with the cable like don't pull on the phones by the cable. It took a while to diagnose, but I finally fixed them. If you send them to a repair professional, expect it to be expensive.

In summary, these are great headphones, expensive but not excessively so, like the R10's. Just be careful as they need to be handled with some care.

One of the bests ever in dynamic headphone history.......2004-10-16

I used to own a pair of CD2K, its always been too bright for me, and bass roll off when goes real deep with a good amp. So i decided to upgrade, well... to these $400 pair. If you have a reasonable source, and a good tube amp, you can't go wrong with CD3K. But if you are planning to use them in a MP3 player, or a computer sound card, they ain't for you as they will review all flaws in your system. Even if you use a SS amp, you need a smooth (and probably expensive) top notch to drive them to sound good.

But highly recommended!

These are the best sounding headphones I have ever experienced. They are quite large but very comfortable since they are not heavy and the headband is well designed. The earcup material is very easy to wear for long periods of time. I have no suggestions as to how to improve them.
