I signed up for Vonage almost 2 years ago and I had problems from the start. My wife demanded that we return to the Comcast digital service. I did as I was told, but I hung on to the Vonage service and downgraded to the 14.99/month rate just to have a 2nd line in the house. It was still a struggle to maintain with the complaints of dropped calls and terrible sound quality. The the Lynksis Router died last week and could not be revived. I was told by Vonage that I would have to buy a new adapter if I wanted to restore my service. That was the last straw for me. Bad equipment+ bad service = a failed company. Linksys may servive selling its junk but Vonage will be a thing of the past in 2 years max.

I rate this product good but not exellent. it works good as vonage phone adaptor, but it wireless signal strengh not much powerfull,had they gave more wireless power this product , this would have become the best vonage adaptor. set up is easy , call quality is good.

Do not buy this router for Vonage service.......2006-10-18

We paid a little extra for this router for the integrated Vonage phone jacks included in the package. Boy, were we disappointed. We stopped using the Vonage service within a couple weeks because voice packets were dropped when multitasking with web-related activities. Refresh a webpage - dropped voice packets... check for email - dropped voice packets.

Do not buy this router for Vonage services. If you care about quality phone service and you're online throughout the day, do not use Vonage.

Vonage is a sinking ship.......2006-10-14

I had Vonage since April, 2006. I finally switched back to Qwest after unending problems and hours and hours on the phone (my cell phone, as my Vonage line didn't work) with tech support. Here is my experience:

1) It took about 2 months and about 2 hours on the phone for them to switch my existing phone # over to Vonage. Don't be too excited about getting the first month free- if your moving an existing number it will take about that long to get it switched over.

2) After my number was finally switched over, outgoing calls were constantly being dropped after about 20-30 seconds. Incoming calls would also be dropped occasionally after about a minute. This resulted in having to call the person back, saying "sorry the call was dropped- we switched to this cheaper phone service and have been having problems...."
This is with the highest speed cable internet service available (8mbps download, 600kbps upload) and a wireless 'g' system which has provided top notch internet service consistently while I had Vonage problems. I spent no less than 4 - 5 calls and over 5 hours on the phone with tech support trying to fix the problem. After talking with tech support, sometimes the problem would be fixed temporarily- while I was on the phone with them- but return shortly thereafter.

3) As a result of the problems I had, I asked to be credited for the months in which my phone service was not working. Be warned, they are very hard-nosed about providing any credits for poor or no service. I spoke to a tech support person about getting a credit for a month of no service, and he told me to wait until the problem had been fixed so they could determine how much credit should be given. After the problem had been fixed (temporarily), I called back and they told me they could only provide credit for the current month, not previous months of no or poor service. THEY ARE NOT CUSTOMER FRIENDLY ABOUT PROVIDING REFUNDS FOR POOR OR NO SERVICE.

4) Finally, in September, still with dropped calls from Vonage, I switched back to Qwest to get reliable phone service. I found customer service there has improved and is much better than Vonage. And they gave me 3 months free promotion for coming back.

In the end, I am happy to pay the extra $10/month (after the first 3 months free) to get phone service that works. I notice that $5 of the extra cost is for fees, etc. that the phone company has to charge but Vonage does not, which is unfortunate. In any case, I guess you get what you pay for.

One last thing: Vonage has never made a profit and many business analysts say with their current business plan, they never will. This means eventually they will either go out of business, or have to raise rates.

Save yourself the problems I had- pay the extra $ to get phone service that works.

It's a normal digital Camera and a PC Camera in one ! Buying these two item seperately.. it will cost you ... bucks. I'm talking about the inexpensive digital and PC Camera. So my suggestinon is.... Why spent more if you can get both for less . No kidding folks, it works good for normal usage. Nothing to regret about!!

Just works.......2006-03-25

I've had mine about 6 months and have had no problems with it. It just works. I've got a MDD dual 1.25GHz G4 running OSX10.4.5. Supports deep sleep. I've edited in Final Cut Pro using an external drive hooked up through the Tango card and, again, no problems at all. I've used a number of Sonnet products and have always been happy.

Not so sure........2006-03-18

I bought this to add extra FireWire (IEEE 1394) ports to my PowerMac G4. It's been problematic for all three jobs I applied it to: external hard drive connection; DV camera connection; and ethernet over FireWire. In each instance, the connection seemed fine at first, but within a few minutes deteriorated to unusability. Switching to my machine's native ports solves the problem every time.

I allow two stars instead of zero because I haven't put much time into troubleshooting it. I found no drivers for OS X on the manufacturer's website, where a notice says none are needed.

This card definitely didn't work out of the box for me, but computer hardware being as variable as it is, it might work for someone else.

Excellent Phone, Crummy Answering Machine.......2004-11-17

If you've looked for a 900 MHz cordless phone recently because of interference between your 2400 MHz cordless phone, 802.11b/g wireless network, and microwave oven, you may have noticed that nobody sells 900 MHz cordless phones with DSS or even plain-jane digital voice anymore. Digital technology such as DSS and digital voice transmission are essential for cordless phone security and privacy. Without it, anybody with a scanner from Radio Shack can listen in. People with special equipment--or even good ears--can pick out credit card and bank account numbers when they're entered on a telephone keypad.

I bought my DSS Uniden EXA3955 a little over a year ago from a third-party Amazon seller. It's not available through Amazon at the moment; however, it is still available refurbished for $40 to $50 from other online vendors.

This phone is a basic one-line 900 MHz DSS model with great range--even through walls and floors. The handset is comfortable to use, and easy to hold on your shoulder. The sound quality is fine--probably not exceptional, but definitely not bad, with an adjustable volume control that goes high enough to hurt sensitive ears. It also has a standard-size headset jack that works well. The biggest disadvantage to me is the inability to turn off the ringer on the handset (it does have high and low ring volume with two different ring-tones). Other disadvantages for others may be the lack of caller-ID display (doesn't matter to me--I refuse to pay $7 per month for it on top of the $23/mo for basic phone service) and possibly ease-of-use issues for programming speed-dial (however, I don't use speed-dial on my home phone, so I'm hardly qualified to give a strong opinion).

The base has a speakerphone that works OK--about what you can expect from a consumer-quality speakerphone.

The answering machine in the base is all-digital, but the sound quality is poor, and it's not very easy to use. It can be turned off though, which is what I have done; I continue to use my $20 stand-alone GE 2-9868A answering machine because it's intuitive in its operation, and its sound quality is significantly better.

If you've come to realize that 2.4 GHz phones are all about hype and marketing (it's true--2.4 GHz signals are more easily blocked by walls and floors than 900 MHz signals, they don't use higher power levels to transmit, they're prone to interference from microwave ovens, and they're competing with wireless networks for 2.4 GHz spectrum; therefore 2.4 GHz is an inferior technology for cordless phone applications) and you're looking for a basic 900 MHz cordless phone with DSS that just plain works well, this is a good choice for the money if you don't use caller ID, and you're willing to put up with the crummy answering machine or use a different one.

Received this item for Christmas, and am pleased with some features, and not others. Recording my own message for the answering machine part was not successful. It came out all muffled and unacceptable. Handset ring is not same as base ring. Confusing to use memory features. Does it's job for the price.

Unidens seem to be a hit or miss thing.......2001-12-27

Our old phone is a uniden. The first one we had bought back then didn't do well for us. The second was wonderful. We had it for about 5 years and abused it quite badly. It still works but we needed a new one. So we bought another uniden. I probably won't buy another one. I bought this one because it was more money than others. My thoughts- more money spent the better the phone. I have static the whole time. Changing channels does not work. Troubleshooting says it could be appliances and we do keep it in the kitchen. But we kept our other one in the kitchen and had no problems. I would suggest to buy one in a store- quicker exchange if it doesn't work for you. Cordlesses are touchy.
Otherwise, I thought the features were great. I picked this one also because it has the functions we needed and not unneccessary ones. We don't use caller id. One thing I liked about the more expensive uniden (with caller id) we did not buy is that you can program a distinct ring for different callers. I think since this phone does not have caller id this function would have been great.
