Fun item.......2001-11-10

This camera is fun but remember...it's basically a toy. I bought it for snowboarding trips buy I don't know if it would function too well after the inevitable falls! Now I use it when ever i'm out and about. Mostly park activities, kids, pets, subway trains and street scenes.
Experiment with manual zoom (your arm) and with different film speeds. Fun is what matters!

Free Film!.......2001-08-30

Mine included free 800 asa film! Did not read that in the descrition. The price is high! Wish it was cheaper! It is like a 35mm automatic camera without the batteries and a flash. I plan to have negatives only developed. Hope to save on the cost and then have my scanner that can scan in negatives to the computer. Scanner is the Canon mfr. CanoScan D660u. (is a USB connector). I believe it is avail here at Amazon.com. I have also heard of a Fuji 1x use 8 lens camera for golfing swing analysis. I wonder if it is cheaper!

I bought a CyberSampler 2.0 Chrome camera this spring and shot a few films. This camera can produce some nice movement shots. I recommend children, pets etc. You should get up close and remember to keep the camera still for the whole shot process. One should experiment with film with high ASA numbers. This is, of course, a novelty camera, and be prepared to "waste" film. The physical make (case, etc.) of the camera is very cheap and plastic indeed, but mine works as it should.

A lot of fun. This camera is the updated version of the Lomographic Society's action sampler. I have them all, I have to admit, I am an absolut Lomo fanatic. Finally I am a good fotographer!!! This camera is much more sturdy and more reliable than the first version of the action sampler. I love to take my kids and dog out in the fields and jump around taking pictures of action and motion. Or take it in the city and take pictures criusing along the boulevards. Thanks Lomographic Society, you brought the joy back in my once upon boring X-mas and Easter shots.

I cannot say how very disappointed I was when my son opened the box that contained this camera! The viewfinder was broken, and the quality of this camera, even for the money spent, was pitiful. Please do not waste your time, effort, or money on this camera. The only bright side of this was the lesson learned by my son... you get what you pay for, or in this case... less.

i got my first actionsampler from my brother stefan, 4 years ago. it was a transparent one. this camera is with me since this time. now i`m collecting all cameras from the lomographics. also the cybersampler - the milky one. i love this sampler-cameras for their moving/grooving pictures they'r producing. as a grafic-designer, i use this pictures a lot and as a loving-maid i use this pictures also for sampling all this special moments with my loved humans, animals and plants. am i now the cyber-sampler-queen or is cybersampler king? we are all royals!

This is my first cdr/rw and I am pleased. You get alot for your money. I have not had any problems except the buffer underrun errors on occasion. That can't be entirely blamed on the cdr. I found copying the cd/program/file etc. to the hard-drive first solves that problem. The only cd I could not burn was Tribes 2. But that could be a software issue also. The Prassi software that come with it is very good and robust. I have also tried Adaptec software and it works good also. Be warned, when burning it takes up alot of your system resources and ram, so it is best to burn/backup with out any other programs running in the background. I gave 4 stars because I could not compare it to another cdr/rw because I have never owned another.

Excellent for its price!.......2001-03-29

I purchased this drive at costco today, price was 120.99 a great price to miss, on a 12x10x32 drive. Previously i had a Hewlett Packard 4x4x24 drive and that drive was a very bad one, i ruined a lot of discs, HP sells a drive at officemax 8x4x32 for 150 and its not even comparable to this drive. Instalation is easy, anyone can do it. The software is the same one which is used with sony cd burners, its very good and you can burn a lot different formats with it. Like videoCD's to play in your dvd.

So far i burned about 10 cd's and not a single one was a messup.

The Ricoh puts others to shame that claim to be the very best money can buy! It is pretty fast, it is very quiet it never gets behind. The included software is rock solid. I use two of them in two very fast machines and they put the EVIL Yamaha units to shame.

Good Drive Even with a Different companies name on it.......2001-01-31

This is my 1st Burner, and well it was simple to install, and I will admit that I do know what I am doing inside my computer. The Burner I bought had a different name on it, but it was in fact a Ricoh drive. The Software included was Nero 5, and it works great. My Only gripe is that I ruined 9 cd's in a row, due to the fact that my Hard Drive can not keep the information Cached fast enough, and I was getting Underrun Errors. This is not the drives problem, but my hardware. I will have to buy a faster Hard Drive. Then I will be able to burn at 12x not 4x. Ohh well a great drive to own.

Never again! Long spin-up delays, and unreliable!.......2007-08-28

I have the 500GB version of this Seagate drive. What a colossal disappointment -- after just a mere 10 minutes or so of non-use, the drive spins down. It's a six-to-eight second wait for the drive to spin back up for the most trivial of tasks, such as a displaying a file open or save dialog.

THAT was aggrevating. But what is infuriating is the Seagate's unreliability! Just a couple of months into use it died with a badly corrupted directory. Reading through the comments here and on this model with other size drives I see that this experience is common rather than unusual.

I never bought Seagate before, but I had thought it had a good reputation. I'll never buy Seagate again!

Failed after 6 months.......2007-07-31

Not very happy that the drive failed, especially after treating it with kid's gloves. All I can say is that it is a good job I didn't rely on this as my sole method of backing up valuable data. I won't buy Seagate products again.

Works okay but I don't trust it..........2007-07-15

This my second unit - the first was replaced by Seagate after it died 198 months ago. This one has worked fairly well; I use it to store my Ipod music and videos but for it to work properly I have to boot my PC first then the drive then use Itunes or whatever. Before I learned this lesson, I had to reformat the drive to get it to be recognized. ouch! While my data appeared to be lost, I luckily used a recovery utility ("recover my Files") to reclaim everything off the drive but it is an exercise I do not want to repeat. It's acting up again today so here I am browsing Amazon. I've used a Western Digital My Book at work and that has been reliable so I am going to switch to that.

Well, It's Not Like I Wasn't Warned.......2007-01-28

I reviewed this drive on these pages, but I bought it anyway. I was purchasing a new Dell, and I figured (hoped) that the problems others experienced was a result of their over-burdened systems. I used the drive to retrieve data from my laptop and transfer it to my new computer, but when I installed the backup software, the system crashed and I am now unable to use my new computer. I called technical support, but guess what? They're closed on the weekend.

Well, it's not like I wasn't warned.
