Hello, I am not happy at all with this product, with Amazon, or the seller. As I purchased this item to setup my wireless internet at home. It sat in the box for 40 days as it took that long for my wireless company to get my satelite to me and setup. Then on the day to set it up I'm told by the Tech that this item is not compatible and I could not use it. When I asked the seller to refund my monie - they indicated it was over 30 days and they could not, nor would Amazon help me....so I am very unhappy as I am a long time customer that has spent my fair share of monies on Amazon and the first time I need help everyone jumps ship...so I rate this over all experience very poor, with poor customer service....and just over all BAD. Thanks but no thanks.

FVG318 Prosafe Wireless router w/8 port switch.......2007-06-13

Bought this to add to my wireless-wired home network. I have used a Netgear FWAG114 along with a Netgear WG302 access point, and several D-Link gaming adapters to connect 7 computers running a variety of systems along with a Slingbox and 2 laptops. Sytems include Vista, XP Pro, Win2000, Win2000 Server and Suse 10.2 (linux). I like the Netgear Pro series as they seem to be more robust and are fairly easy to configure and handle security really well.

Connected the FVW318, logged in and set up the WPA security, set my rules for VNC (Windows and one for Linux), HTML, FTP, Slingbox and opened the ports. Set security for the highest level of WPA I could. I can have as many as 15 different wireless systems in my neighborhood broadcasting at any given moment so security and ability to connect to my wireless is very important to me.

I replaced the FWAG114 with the FVG318 and after configuring it, it connected immediately. My WG302 is on the lower floor and is connect by POE. Once I booted both up the connection has been flawless for the last 48 hours. I am on Comcast and my connection is at a blazing 19,880 kbs (2485 KB/sec) down and 2485 kbs (196.9 KB/sec) up.

I have read many reviews that rate this router as bad. User became easily frustrated with all the dropped connections and poor performance. But I have found that configuring it right the first time is the most important step in getting it to work.

Configuration was easy and straight forward. Of, course, you must know how to configure your rules and set the ports. Some probably buy this router thinking it is plug and play and it is not. First thing I did was download the current firmware from Netgear and install it before doing anything. Bugs are generally eliminated with upgrades.

I must be lucky with my Netgear products. I started years ago with the Netgear RT314 router and now use Netgear exclusively. I have family that come to visit in their motor homes and I assign them logons and they can connect wirelessly from around 75 feet away.

I give this router 5 stars as it has performed flawlessly so far. I run Rosetta@Home (shared computing helping to determine the 3-dimensional shapes of proteins in research that may ultimately lead to finding cures for some major human diseases) on all of my computers and a good connection 24/7 is of most importance to me, plus, I love wireless computing.

If you buy the FVG318 read the manual that is on the CD thoroughly before you start the configuration. I will post a follow up review after a month or so to let you know if I still really like my FVG318.

This is my first introduction to the world of Hi8 camcorders(having previously owned a VHS-C format camcorder) and I must say the SCL610 from Samsung really surprised me. The first thing that caught my eye was the price and how many features it had. Next, was the ease of use and picture quality. I'm the type when taking home a new gadget, wants to play with it already before even reading the manual. So, I opened the box took out the camcorder (wow, and how light it felt in my hands) plugged it in and charged the battery. I also installed the lithium battery for the memory and the date and time settings which I will adjust later. After an hour or so, I placed a blank Hi8 tape in the camcorder and started recording! The 500x digital zoom is really cool, I was able to focus the camcorder on a small object about 10 feet away from me and read the tiny little label. The light is bright enough to be able to record in total darkness. The microphone picks up human voices really well and does not distort it. After a couple minutes of recording, I plugged it in the VCR, played it, and voila! - I recorded my first segment and copied it into a VHS tape.

I have yet to explore this camcorder's vast features, I am overall very impressed with it. The only bad thing I could say about it is that the button placement could have been more ergonomical for people with tiny hands. I found the viewfinder to be of exceptional quality and it really makes recording that much more easier. The Samsung SCL610 is truly a great buy!

Versatile but not ideal.......2001-12-31

Tamron makes lenses that are inexpensive alternatives to name brand choices. Along with Sigma and Tokina, the "Big Three" third party manufactures compete for a share of the lens market. Tamron has recently ventured into the 28-200 and even 28-300 realm. The versatility that these focal lengths give, when included in the same lens, is tremendous. However, as with anything, there is generally a trade off. In this case, the user is sacrificing sharpness, speed, and photographic quality for convenience and versatility.

Positives:
Covers the 28-200mm range - unless you photograph wide landscapes ( <28mm) or wildlife/sports (>200mm) this would ideally be the only lens you need
Very compact and lightweight
Internal focusing allows you to place filters on the lens without end-of-lens rotation

Negatives:
Very soft at the 200mm range with distortion throughout the zoom range
3.5-5.6 means you have a slower lens throughout the zoom range as well
Not a good lens for enlargement over 5x8 or even 4x6 under some circumstances

Overall, this would make a great lens for someone looking for a lightweight single lens to take with him or her to capture almost every type of shot available. This would not make a good lens for anyone aspiring to take great photographs, where sharpness, flare, and distortion are key concerns. I suggest you try it out if possible to see if you notice the issues listed above. If you like the results, then by all means, keep the lens. For the price, 28-200m coverage is a great thing.

The Best Lens for Travel, Portraits...and Girl Watching!.......2001-05-06

If I ever became a contestant on Survivor (the TV show) and I could only take one camera lens with me, this would be the one.

Even though I own a wider angle (19-35mm) and a more telephoto (80-300mm) zoom, this lens encompasses 90% of my shooting needs. It has 28mm for scenics, 100-135mm for portraits, and 200mm for close-ups and action photography. (The 200mm length is also great for girl watching in the summer time, pictures of which I use to dress up my vacation photo albums.)

The lens has separate rings for focusing and zooming, but since my SLR camera is autofocus, I just leave my (left hand) fingers on the zoom ring and let my shutter release finger control the focusing.

The compact size of the lens makes it very portable. And having such a wide range of focal lengths means I don't have to worry about missing a shot -- because I'm caught changing camera lenses.

If you're planning to buy a new SLR or are looking for a new lens, please be sure to put this fine optical instrument at the top of your shopping list.

If you could just buy one lens...........2000-10-31

I got a great Canon Elan IIe from ebay but no lens and not much money left. I knew I'd never have a bag full of lenses so I looked for the best all-around useful lens.

This is it!

Upside: 1)Great range of focal lengths 2)Pretty fast for the range and for the money. There are faster lenses out there but nowhere near the price. 3)Rugged

Downside: 1)Heavy 2)You must be at least 7 feet away to focus. That's not usually a problem because you can zoom in so tight but if you're shooting in a home sometimes it is akward to get back far enough. 3)There are now lenses with even greater range of focal length

If you want to put a great lens on your Canon and never, ever have to fuss this is a lens for you.

If you're on a photo shoot and don't want to lug around a lot of lenses this is a great one (however, it does get heavy on long hikes).

I've never regretted buying this lens. And I've never thought, "You know, if I would have spent a little more I could have got a whole lot better."

This has satisfied in every way.

I really like the phone. The only problem I have with the phone is the caller ID. If someone calls from the same number twice, it only shows on the caller ID once. It does not register the same number more than once. Other than that, the phone is great.

After reading many reviews on phones, it seemed like each one had some drawback that I didn't want to deal with. Uniden seemed to be the closest match for what I needed, but each reviewed model had something lacking. I took a chance on this one and am pleasantly surprised.

The phone is decked out with everything that was important to me:

- It is compact, easy to use, has clear reception, excellent sound quality and good range.
- The speakerphone doesn't produce a hollow sound.
- The handsets can share a stored phonebook (i.e., you don't have to save numbers into each handset individually, but can just copy them over).
- More than one handset can join in an existing conversation.
- The handsets can act as intercoms with each other.

It is all there.

It also has some features that are nice to have:

- Selectable backlight color
- Multiple different ringtones
- Ability to record a custom ringtone
- Capability of having personalized ringtones (assign a ringtone for when someone specific is calling)

It avoids many of the pitfalls of other phones that I saw in reviews:

- Rechargeable battery is Lithium Ion, not something with a shorter life or that will produce a "memory" like a Ni-Cd.
- The cost of a replacement battery is not outrageous.
- Ability to disable the audible message alert (to be read: not have the machine beep at you annoyingly in the case you are screening calls while at home)
- Answering machine is easy to access via the handset, not difficult to figure out and deleting messages works intuitively

The only drawbacks I have experienced are relatively minor:

- Beltclip is much like a cellphone (more like a cradle than just a clip), so it doesn't allow the phone to fit back into the charging base and must be removed. It is easy to do, it is just a minor inconvenience.
- Maximum number of handsets is four. Although this works fine for my home, if you need more, this system won't handle it.
- Despite being on the 2.4 GHz frequency, I haven't seen any interference issues with my wireless home network. I do, however, experience some static if the microwave is being used.

Overall it is a solid phone and I'd highly recommend it.
