I own a few portable dvd players, but none compares to Panasonic's LV-57. Super slim and weighing just under 3 Lbs., the LV-57 is targetted towards those serious movie fans who would like to view their favorite movies on the go. Now you can go to "Entertainment Outlet", pick up a new release and pop it into your dvd and off you go into the magical world of celluloid movies. It's so small and tiny you can fit it in your coat pocket while strolling down 5th Avenue. Pop it open as you relax on a park bench or in a subway car. The hours will fly by as you enjoy all your favorite movies. Battery life is the major factor for any hard core movie buff and the LV-57's 5 hour battery life is number one among portable dvd's on the market. Add an extra battery (which I was lucky enough to purchase at "Data Vision" for only 60 dollars) and you will be able to enjoy 10 hours of continuous movie viewing. I had no idea when I ordered this how much this little thing could actually do! I was a little sad that it had a 5 inch screen, but the battery length more than makes up for it. Other brand players have been reported to have frozen up, but my LV57 hasn't given me any problems yet. A great product, worth the cost.

The Best.........2002-10-16

I was given this DVD player as a gift and had no idea how much I would end up using this. Not only do I use it as my home DVD player now, but as a sometimes video producer, I use this as a "portable studio" to play DVD-R's I've burned to take to meetings. Sitting over lunch, going over works in progress with others involved in the project has been a real time saver. I use a "splitter" to plug in two headphones (there is plenty of power for this)..The five hour battery is fantastic. On a recent flight I took, the second headphone came in handy when I offered it to the person in the seat next to me who was uninterested in the inflight movie. Watched two movies with plenty of battery left. Great product!

Longest battery life, good picture, & lightweight........2002-04-29

I've used this DVD player during air and auto travel for the past 4 months. It is a solid performer and I can recommend it highly. Light weight, good picture quality, intuitive controls, and the longest lasting battery in the market--which is more important than picture size since you cannot recharge batteries during a flight. My only beef with the unit is that it has anemic speakers (as do all competing units) that are hard to hear over jet engines and auto noise. But since speakers would annoy others anyway, I simply use headphones and get better sound. The player puts out enough audio to drive a companion's headphones. The screen has an adequate acceptance angle to permit two viewers to see a good image during a flight. When used with a cheap RF video modulator (e.g. Radio Shack), the DVD player transmits a very high quality picture to the TV's available in motels & vacation homes.

I bought Sceptre product and the quality was not I expected. I contacted their tech support, the customer service was not friendly and not professional.

Price is great..... BUT.............2003-12-28

We absolutely CANNOT get this thing to focus properly. We're not computer experts, however, we are handy w/a computer, and have technological common sense... so you would be remiss to dismiss our opinion as that of the "Joe Next Door" computer owner.

We have followed the directions and trouble shooting directions TO THE "T".... but the only results we can get is a partially in focus/partially out of focus view. If you manage to remove the horizontal and verticial lines so that none appear, as advised in the manual, it still leaves portions of the screen out of focus, so you have to settle on the "lesser of two evils" (which is less important to have in focus).

We've already returned one....and have the same problem with the second one.

We plan on contacting the maker to see if they can offer any better advise than what their manual offers - if we have any luck, we'll gladly edit our opinion to reflect the outcome of our efforts.

Sometimes you just get what you pay for, and that's the bottom line.

not worth it............2007-05-13

bought this thing about 3 weeks ago. And for the first 2 weeks it was fine, and I couldn't have been happier with my purchase, but then during week 3 the Ipod started to freeze up on me, and I couldn't get it working again. And apple's tech support was no help, they basically restated the same stuff from the support section on their website. Waste of money....I'm sure there's a better mp3 player somewhere....hopefully I'll find it...this was too much money to spend on something that was just going to break down 3 weeks after I bought it.

When my daughter began downloading music to the ipod it immediately froze and was not functioning at all.The ipod was returned and another ipod(same brand) was mailed to me immediately.A couple of months later it froze again.I didn't bother to return the product and disposed it.
