A Plextor product that is a Big Disappointment.......2007-05-10
I bought this drive from Tigerdirect.ca. I wasn't able to return it since I brought it with me to Calgary right away. At that time, I just trusted the Plextor brand name (wow! 16MB buffer!). I was wrong about the Plextor brand. This drive is simply a big disappointment. It could not even create a backup disk of the Roxio and other software that came with it. When I tried to backup my hard drive to a Verbatim DVD-R disk, it could not write to it saying it was read only. When I tested burning to the Pioneer DVD writer, the backup went smooth. When I tried writing to a Philips DVD+RDL disk, it froze my computer. I tested the Philips DVD+RDL on my Sony drive and the copy was flawless. I bought this Plextor drive for about $190.00Cdn plus 15% tax. I have since set it aside. The lesson: Even Plextor sells substandard products. My advice: This Plextor product does not deliver and is NOT recommended. The cheaper Pioneer and Sony drives have proven to be the more reliable and they DO deliver.
Shoddy CD loader........2006-01-12
I was a bit apprehensive about getting a trayless DVD drive but I thought Plextor had a decent reputation. After the first few DVDs, the drive broke. It is no longer possible to load a DVD. I would not recommend buying this drive. If you are dead set on the Plextor 716 get the one with the tray loading.

I bought these a while ago at like 26 bucks here at amazon and I haven't been able to find them so cheap since. No coasters so far and I'm almos done with the 100 pack. It is true that if you scratch them they give you trouble, but then again you're no suppose to scratch them.
I'm vert pleased with them. They're printable, but I haven't printed one so far. I recently bought some sew ones form another brand, not being able to find these anymore. We'll se how it goes.

I buy 500 of this DVD's and i very happy with this, i hope that amazon sell more of this because i loved, the impression in the disk are excellent and the write too, from the first 100 DVD i have 3 bad disks, great percent of bad disks. AMAZON i wan't more of this!!!
Works good, but not at first!.......2005-03-28
My first try at burning to these disks returned an 'illegal disk' error using Nero and NEC DVD_RW ND-1300A drive. Nero showed the drive speed as either 1x or 2x. I upgraded my firmware on the DVD drive from 1.05 to 1.08 and tried again. The disk worked just fine and Nero now shows a speed of 2x and 4x. Sweet!
Running 90% coasters so far........2005-03-23
Powerbook G4 SuperDrive. They burn and verify just fine, but when I reinsert them tghey come up unreadable. I just burned the Solaris 10 Install DVD from an ISO image. Burned fine, verified fine, but when I try to install from it I get read errors. Same ISO, same burner, using a CompUSA private label DVD+R gives me a usable install DVD.
Before a computer upgrade, I burned my iPhoto Library to one of these. It verified fine, then after I'd wiped my drive it came up upreadable. Lost a couple dozen photos, so I'm not as livid as I would be if this was my only backup. Still. That DVD will mount on a Windows machine; ISOBuster sees all three filesystems, but attempting to read anything gives me a CRC error.
Do plenty of testing before you trust anything to these.

Amazon is out of my ridata / riteks so i got these to hold me over. No coasters so far, but the discs mess up in all 4 of our players. They stop and shake and skip and freeze now and then - all that good junk. Something to think about before you buy - the price is definately right, but the quality is questionable.

About the brightness.......2004-08-21
It is really darker than other monitors so that I always need to use third party software to make screen brighter.
When u play game (like Counter strike, Doom3), if something is hiding in little bit dark place, u just can't see it. Doom3 doesn't let third party software to change brightness so I can't play doom3 although I have good enough system. It's just total black in doom3 even after u set brightness in doom3 setting to brightest. My friend has Viewsonic E95. His monitor is very good and bright too. So if you have E90 in mind, then just buy E95. It's few bucks difference.

Very pleased.......2003-07-29
Just got this monitor after my 17"'er keeled over and so far, it's great. It's got great resolution and excellent color at every screen setting I've tried. Dot pitch is .27x.25. Adjusting the monitor settings is very simple and intuitive, though getting the screen just right requires a bit of patience if your a perfectionist about it.
Only flaws of this monitor are 1)The name 'Perfectflat' is somewhat of a misnomer. The screen is not perfectly flat, though it is VERY close. 2) The power button requires a bit more push than most (due to the depth of its travel)- a minor gripe, and one that the user will get used to.
Another good thing though, is that the E90 has a nice flat top. -A good place to stick small notebooks and whatever else (that's important if you've ever had the misfortune of dealing with a rounded top monitor)
Overall it's a great monitor. Can't say much about it's lifespan, I've only had it a few days, but Viewsonic typically has three year warranties on their products, so I'm not all that worried. If your looking for a high quality, economical 19"er, this is it. Just make sure you got enough deskspace for it.
