16-bit audio includes one set of stereo audio tracks to produce CD-quality sound.

Awesome camera and awesome price!.......2006-05-30

I purchased this camcorder from ebay just in time for a trip to Florida 3 years ago. It worked wonderfully everywhere we went and it was great to be able to play back our adventures later at our room. I just had a baby and it has proven itself once again as a good quality and versatile camera. It is comfortable to use for longer periods of filming, since it has a large screen to look at instead of a viewfinder. It also has a high quality picture and I have "captured" many wonerful still pictures off the video I downloaded onto my computer. I would reccomend it to anyone looking for a high quality low cost camera!

Loved it until I could no longer watch what I taped.......2005-05-18

I too bought this camera because I was told that it was the top of the line and used my tax money to buy this for my girls. After a few months of ownership you could no longer watch what you taped. I have never dropped or damaged the camera in any way shape or form. So I took it back to the store that I bought it from and was told that I needed to send it to the manuefacturer to be looked at. Of course that was not free. I am a single mother and can not afford to just go out and buy another one or pay all the money that the company wants to fix it. I bought this camera because my oldest daughter is very athletic and does Bull Riding. Now I have a $300.00 camera that just sits around collecting dust that is of absolutely no use. It will record but you can not play it back. If you want to watch what you recorded you have to hit play and fast forward all at the same time. What I do not understand is why has the company not issued a recall on this particular product. I wonder has anyone ever thought about a lawsuit? If not then someone should. Because after reading so many reviews, there seems to be quite a lot just like my bad experience.

Decent camera when it works.......2005-02-07

Two weeks after I bought it the camera will not play back what I record. The only way I know it actually captured anything is that it will play back if you hit play and fast forward. This means that I can not get what I have recorded off the MiniDV tape and I can not show anyone what I have recorded! Until it stopped working the camera was awesome, especially for the price.

Another One Bites the Dust.......2004-11-18

Like many others here, my camera also suddenly stopped working one day. I've had the camera exactly 2 years and have taped about 16 hours total. I also have taken very good care of it - never been dropped or damaged in any way. The Sharp-recommended repair facility wanted $40 just to look at it. I opted to send it to a facility that does free estimates... just learned it will cost $225 to fix the power source. Even though the repair shop will guarantee everything for 6 mos, we will likely spend a little extra just to buy a newer, better camera.

Suddenly stopped working.......2004-07-13

I purchased this camera in August of 2002 and have taken very good care of it. I have only used for aprox. 8 hours of recording. I powered on the camera, finished the tape that was currently in the recorder, and it suddenly powered off. I had noticed the battery was fully charged when I was recording so I knew it wasn't a battery issue. We then found there was no way to manually eject the tape since it is a motorized ejection process. We contact Sharp who suggested to remove the battery and reseat (which we had already tried) and if that did not help then it would have to be sent to a service center for $$$'s. The quality is very disappoining considering the camcorder was used so little and was always taken care of. We eventually took the camcorder apart ourselves destroying it just to salvage the video tape inside since it is more cost effective to purchase a new recorder than to send $$$'s to repair a junk camcorder.

To hear bass sounds better, use a subwoofer........2004-10-12

I had a similar case with bass sound, which did not come sufficiently good from str-de485. I used a subwoofer and adjusted the surround sound levels with the available controls on the amplifier/receiver; it improved a lot. This is a good product with a low price, especially for home usage. 80 watts is more than sufficient to shake the windows.

Good Entry-Level Receiver.......2003-03-01

Sony's STR-DE485 is quite a good entry-level A/V receiver. The sound is crisp and clean with little distortion at any volume level, and the FM tuner can lock on to even the weakest stations. With 6 available inputs, the unit is capable and a great component to build a home theater around.

Sony also offers the longest warranty in the industry -- competing receivers offer only a 1 year or 90 day warranty while Sony covers both parts and labor for a full two years.

Quality and warranty aside, however, the Sony name commands a price premium as opposed to competing products in its price level from Pioneer, Kenwood, and others. Competing models may include S-Video inputs and Doly Pro Logic II decoding, both of which Sony's STR-DE485 lacks. Most comparable receivers also offer an output of 100 watts x 5 channels, where the STR-DE485 only offers 80 watts x 5 channels.

WORST LAPTOP EVER!!!.......2007-06-29

Do not buy this laptop, even if someone pays you to. It's unbearably slow (takes practically half an hour just to register a double click) and shuts down spontaneously in the summer due to overheating issues. Toshiba: it is NOT SUPPOSED TO TAKE ALL DAY TO OPEN A FILE!!! This piece of junk deserves to be taken out back and shot.

Stay Away from Toshiba.......2006-08-26

I am regreting my decision to buy the Toshiba Satellite M35X-S309. Within a year of purchase I experinced problems with th power supply. The machine would switch to battery mode all of a sudden, draining my battery. At one point with the slighest of movement the power supply would change to battery mode. Finally the laptop stopped getting charged by electricity. Thankfully it all happened during my warranty period. I got the problem fixed, or so I thought. One year down the line, I'm facing the same problem all over again.

Three of my acquaintances who purchased Toshiba laptops (A75 series) had the same problem. Of them the laptop of two have died because of this issue.

Recently both Dell and Apple have recalled millions of laptops because of battery problems. If Toshiba had an iota of business ethics and honesty they should have recalled the Satellite M35X-S309 model. But no, they are greedy pigs who will dig into their customers' money shamelessly.

They have discountined the Satellite M35X-S309, and no wonder why. Dell and Apple are far more responsible than Toshiba.

Bottom line stay away from Toshiba.

Great for basic use and DVD watching.......2005-01-15

As a full-time student, this computer is great for me. All the basic amenities are here: CD burner, DVD player, Solitaire. I've switched from a desktop to this laptop obviously because of portability, but also its cheap price (got it from Fry's Electronics/Outpost.com for $799--- without rebates!), functionality, features and great WIDE screen. The screen is so crystal clear that I don't even realize that I'm watching a DVD from my laptop, not a Hi-Def TV. Furthermore, the computer offers an option to switch to DVD mode in order to save battery life. I love how much space it provides my wrists when typing, and easy access buttons for Windows Media Player also come in quite handy. The only con I can think of is the average battery life. I originally had planned to purchase an Averatec laptop, which, at only 4 lbs., commanded 4.5 hours of battery life in comparison to my 3.5+/- hours.

To summarize, if you're a non-gamer, and just an average Jane like me looking for a great bargain for a great laptop, I think this is a wonderful candidate for your investment. I'm quite happy with it! =)

I love this tablet. I have used the graphire 4x5, but found the surface too small for most graphic purposes. This tablet has a large surface 6x8. Very stylish and easy to get used to. The mouse is slightly larger than a standard mouse. I find it to be comfortable and smooth. The best part is the ability to switch between the pen, with a comfort grip, and the mouse. Anyone with hand strain will appreciate it. The tablet is easy to install and works well with most software.

Amazon provided a great, low-cost source for additional handsets to the VTech i5801 answer machine/base station. Handsets arrived promptly and after the pre-requisite charging period, were ready to use. The only downside is that VTech does not have a program for these phones for transferring phone book entries to each handset (either directly or through a computer). Otherwise, a great value.

Pretty much everything about this phone has been good. Good range, exceptional sound clarity, large screen view, battery longivity, no interference with our computer wireless network, it's design and size, and the easy intercom usage make it an good wireless phone. The speakerphone works very well too. Even assigning the different built-in ringtones to friends and relatives phone numbers (using Caller ID) isn't too difficult and makes it even more functional. It's even got a battery back-up feature in the base station which makes it reliable in power failures - apparently, a general area power failure can render a multi-phone system useless if they don't have battery back-up. We've had 4 of these handsets with the 5831 base station for some 2 years now. Because of this good experience, I would consider any of the 5800 series VTech phone systems if I had to buy another multiple handset phone system.

I have the previous model that is the same but without the wallpaper. I have had for 2 years. I have noticed that they are losing quality of reception in certain areas of my home and that some buttons on the keypads I am not able to push. I too am having problems with the charger bases. I have two handsets and both will not fully charge and nor sit correctly in the base. Also in going to the vtech website I noticed that htese are on their way out and they are no longer making the additional handsets. I love the style though and wish I could find a similair style with the blue backlighting. I say find a more recent model.

Our third handset is on it's way out. 3 dead in one year. The keypads go bad (buttons become hard to push, you have to use a pen) and the charging cradle also goes bad; you have to jiggle it just right to get it to charge. All in all the worst phones I have ever purchased.
