I have lost $70! And not happy about it. This thing is constantly dropping the calls, that is when it wants to work. Also, deceptive advertising: you can use your phone to call through Skype directly ONLY WITH THE NUMBERS THAT YOU HAVE IN YOUR CONTACT LIST! Which they don't tell you in the advertising. So if you call numbers that are not in you contact list, as I do most of the time, forget about it.
I got this through Amazon from another seller that made it so complicated and costly to return the item that I gave up, and each time I am trying to use it again, another problem arises. Hope that's enough. First time I write a review like this, but first time I feel ripped of like this.

Flat out awful.......2007-07-14

I am an electrical engineer by trade and I couldn't get this device to work. First off the original drivers just didn't work at all. After installing the new drivers (several times) I finally got it to give me a dial tone however it would not allow me to dial out.

Upon further research (reading the manual) I found out that this skype phone adaptor *is not designed to allow you to dial out*! Now I don't know what type of idiot at USRobotics thought an adaptor box didn't need to allow someone to dial out... but they designed it that way. What they allow is for you to use skype's speed-dial feature. This is a very poor compromise for being able to just pick up the phone and dial a phone number! That means you have to memorize your speed dial list and then punch it into the phone attached to the adaptor box. If you don't memorize it or want to call a non-speed dialed number you have to go to your computer and call from skype.

And BTW, while I read in the manual how it is *supposed* to work, I could never get the speed dial feature to work!

Ok... so that means I have to dial using my computer and then everything's fine, right? WRONG! Skype for some reason would randomly hang up on me somewhere between 30 seconds and 4 minutes when I'm talking on the phone using this box. Updated skype, updated drivers, read instructions, everything.

And finally, the last straw, technical support is non-existent.

Rarely have I been so pissed off at any product I've purchased, but this product *should* be a simple thing to design and build and yet USRobotics has done a flat out awful job of it. I way over paid for this thing and I'm going to throw it away and the "Eforcity Adaptor", which is sold on Amazon for half the price and has so far received 7x5* reviews.

Please do not buy this product. Companies that product stuff this bad should go out of business.

A waste of time and money. Old driver or new, this US Robotics USB Telephone Adapter for Skype has never worked. We spent a lot of money on its purchase, too. USRobotics does not respond to support requests. The product is disappointing. Even though Skype "recommends" this product, opt for the competitor's adapter if you can. This product simply does not work and its manufacturer does not appear to stand behind what it sells. [...].

Beaware that it requires a land-line for your-cell to SkypeOut forwarding. It works only with Skype and nothing else.

highly unreliable.......2004-04-20

The first piece I ordered did not work. The replacement worked but one of the thumbsticks was behaving erratically. After misicing and matching components from the original and replacement set, i was able to make it work. But after a month of sparse use, the unit stopped working again! Until they learn to make more reliabile devices, keep away from these units.

GREAT CONTROLLER!!!!!.......2004-01-20

i ogt this controller after christmas, and i think it is the best controller i have ever used. the only problem is that before i wore it in it sometimes would just stop sending a signal to the xbox. i thik it was because of the microwave in my house, or the phone on the same frequency (2.4). but it is a great product, more than i expected.

Wireless Wonder.......2003-12-18

With only two previous reviews, I feel compelled to give everyone the real skinny on this near clone of the original Microsoft Xbox controller (not the "s" controller). It is extremely comfortable, even after several hours of non-stop gaming. It includes a "RECHARGEABLE" battery pack and charger. The battery lasts for about 60 hours of use, and recharges in 4 hours. The controller works wirelessly on 2.4 Ghz frequency. This is great and very reliable, however, a word of caution; if you have other wireless items nearby, such as a phone or router that uses 2.4 Ghz frequency, this may cause intermittent interference. When using the controller next to my 2.4 Ghz wireless phone, when the phone rings or is in use, it causes the controller to act somewhat irrational during gameplay. I gather this is an issue not exclusive to this product or manufacturer, but to all electronics using the same radio frequency in close proximity. The controller has vibration control, and is excellent for FPS and TPS games, as well as for other games. Tested on 12 games and works exceptionally well. Also has turbo feature and is made of high quality with rubberized grips and thumbsticks. Only gave this controller 4 stars, instead of 5 stars, due to a repeated issue involving the controller having a tendency to occaisionally drift to the right on the left thumbstick, even when the stick is not being touched. This isn't an issue for most games, but presents an issue for shooter games, since pinpoint accuracy/control is needed. I've had the controller for a week, and really enjoy using it. The manufacturer claims it works to 30 feet away. The receiver also has two memory card slots, and is visually pleasing and complimentary to the system. My plan is to return this controller to Toys'R'Us, and exchange it for another one. Hopefully, the issue won't be there on the new one. Worth the 50 bucks. If the issue repeats, I'll still keep the controller and deal with its personality.

Something wireless that finally work's. This is a great controller, and it works with all my games. Forget about the reviews that says it doesn't work. The only problem I've had with this controller is that it didn't come with that nice silver trimming around the buttons like the picture.

This Lazer controller does not work on most of the games ...
For example, Frogger, NFL Fever, Blinx, Harry Potter, and so on.
The only game we've been able to get it to work on is Shrek.

The card failed two months after purchase. I requested a RMA and returned the card. After no news in the first month, I started to inquire in emails. No reply. I wrote several more emails. No answer. I called the customer support number on their website. No way to reach a tech support in the system and even no choice given to leave a message. I tried their tech support forum. No way I could log in.
I finally found a good phone number at the end of the second month and someone answered. The guy said will try. Well this is the end of the third month. Nothing.
I would never go anywhere close to a visiontek product again.

Low price. High performance. Great card!.......2004-12-13

To my surprise, this graphics card runs even the most graphics intensive PC games of today. Thanks to DirectX 9, and other integrated graphics accelerators, I can use it to play Doom 3, FarCry, Half-Life 2, and Call of Duty...all on "High" quality settings! The realistic water and dynamic lighting effects found in most of your favorite games will come to life with this card. It even delivers exceptional frame rates when playing online, multiplayer games like Counter-Strike SOURCE. This card also excels in 2D/3D programs and digital video in general.

I give this card two thumbs up. I highly recommend it.

Captain Amazing, smaking your face.......2004-05-15

This is a sweet card. I only paid $150 for it on here a few weeks ago. Don't use the drivers on the CD though, they stink. Go to ATI's site and get the latest. This card simply rocks in all of my games. I can run all of my games at 1024x768 with most settings maxed out. Halo performs well. Doom 3 Alpha doesn't stutter a bit even with dynamic shadows enabled. Currently running Far Cry demo, Max Payne 2, Jedi Academy, Unreal 2, UT2004 demo, Raven Shield, and Need for Speed Underground with no problems. Everything looks awesome! I did have some issues with Call of Duty "stuttering" which I could not resolve. This card is definately going to perform when D3 and HL2 come out!

I have the Sapphire version of this graphics card and it works excellent. I have no complaints whatsoever.

My $400 VisionTek experience.......2004-01-31

I previously purchased a VisionTek Ti500 for $400 when it first came out.

Within a few months, the fan failed and the card overheated. Rather then send me an RMA, they sent me a new fan without any instructions on how to replace it - it was no straightforward and the install chipped a ceramic on the board.

They replaced it with another card whose heatsink simply fell off of the card.

When I requested an RMA, they said that VisionTek had gone bankrupt and that they were the new VisionTek who was not required to honor the warranty. They offered me an upgrade option with several cards - all but one resulted in a higher price for the upgrade then to buy the card at Best Buy.

I offered them to exchange me their lowest-priced upgrade card, which would have cost me $40 (mind you, my original card was $400), or I would escalate and FedEx the company CEO at the following address:

and post my experience on online store reviews.

They failed to respond in 2 days, so here is the result.

Please note that I am neither advising or dissuading anyone from buying their cards, but simply posting a truthful and unbiased account of my experience with VisionTek.
