Venturer 5 CD Home Stereo System.......2005-02-04

I love this 5-CD system. It also has cassette tape, AM and FM. It is a relatively inexpensive system that puts out an excellent sound. It has a cute little remote that does everything that you would want it to do, except the remote does not have a volume control.

Venturer Electronics customer service number is 800-252-6123. My model number is different than the one shown. My model number is CD2152. It is a similar 5-CD system to the one shown.

We bought ours for christmas and there really is no major problem with the unit except I cannot hear the speakers that sit on either side of you in the back The sound is really loud in the front but hear nothing in the back. Also The radio function is good but you cannot hear A.M radio just FM. It was a good price and I guess you get what you pay for.

I've had mine (2nd one) going over 2 years. The 1st one I brought back due to the fade to B&W about half way thru the movie (approx 60 to 80 minutes into movie). 2nd one is going like a champ. The fade to B&W is from the cooling fan circuitry failing. The fan itself works, but the temp sensor for the amps fail, causing the amps to overheat (loss of color and fade to B&W). Fan does not stay on the whole time the unit is one, just when the amps get to predetermined temp. I agree about the "boot" time of the system upon turn on.

BAD product.......2003-10-20

This product is great if you like "please Wait" because thats what you'll be seeing a lot. everytime you want to change the function, or trun it on!! it's a very slow unit, i never thought i'd have to "boot up" my DVD player!
and . . . there is no display on the tv for the volume etc. . everything is displaied on a tackey monochrome display on the unit itself.
But the Worst Part is the fact that i cannnot watch a DVD without the picture going Black&White half way through. sence my palyer in older than the whole 90 day warentee pariod. i not only would have to pay to get it fixed but it would have to shiped at my expence and the repair would take 6 MONTHS!!!!

i need help.......2003-11-06

i bought the sts13-s venturer and it will not play my cds, nor dvds the cd loads put does not play, it freezes the disc doesn't spin at all, i cannot get anything on my tv at all, is there anyone that can help me out here, could it be the head on it, i hope not it is fresh out of the box. please if someone can help iwould really appreciate it.

Buyer Beware!.......2002-07-06

I've had nothing but problems with this system. It skips constantly, no matter what movie I play and quite often freezes altogether. I should have known better considering the almost non-existent warranty. Do your self a favor and spend a little more money for a system that will actually play movies!

It Will Ruin Your Veiwing Enjoyment.......2002-04-01

This system is horrid. Not only have I had problems with it skipping, pausing, and completely freezing, but so has a friend of mine with the same system. I dont recomend this product to anyone unless you dont mind a great movie skipping, pausing out for a second or so, or completely freezing up on you. I personally find it very frustrating. The sound is decent for the little money, but this skipping, pausing, and freezing is enough to make you want to throw your new machine in the trash.

I used to have the name of the manufacturer and their website out of China that makes this generic home theatre system. I blv this is the Upgrade Deluxe model of the more popular basic home theatre package for $...that came in a black finish and was sold at Kmart with disastrous results. It also is sold at Best Buy under the KLH name but with color variations and little blue LED lights...but exactly the same thing. I blv Target is now selling this basic model as well for $... It goes under the Audiovox logo. But it is the Basic model and NOT the DELUXE model you see here at AMAZON.COM. (Note: Many popular brand name electronics surprisingly come from the same manufacturer with different variations to the product. Getting the generic version like Venturer doesn't necessarily mean you are getting junk.)

However, there is very little difference as far as quality is concerned, and I've seen both. I bought two of them. I also brought them back when I saw a better product.

The laser reading system is very, very sensitive, and just a little dust particle or a fraction of a fingerprint can make the disc skip or freeze. This is unusual and is the result of miscalibration with the manufacturer. (In other words, many of them need tune-ups). The basic model is 130 watts. But this is the wattage of the entire system with power supply and other wattage uses. I estimate actual maximum sound wattage at 90-100. The cube speakers are of so-so quality. The bass speaker is low quality and while it woofs a little, it could hardly be called a true Bass woofer.

There is NO DTS decoding, and I blv there might be a DTS OUT jack, and you'd have to buy a sep. RCVR that decodes DTS sound and the cheapest I've seen is $.... There is NO DSP, so you can't select Theatre effect, Hall effect, Stadium effect, etc.
The player can read only DVD and I blv one type of MP3. No region except Region 1 (America) can be played on this. You can't hook up a sep. REGION DECODER. You can't play DVD's from other countries regardless.

For those that have absolutely NEVER experienced true home surround sound (not virtual), this would be a good start. You'd also probably have the adventurous experience of repacking the darn thing and sending it back (within 90 days mfr warr).

So at least the name of this system is justified.

The Ventor surround sound system is very easy to use. Turning it on and working it is a snap. This system has excelent sound, you feal like you are right there in the movie. And it looks very attrative in your home anywere.

bad connection.......2006-11-27

This phone didn't work well for us at all. The connection was always bad (fuzzy). My husband just went to Walgreen's and picked up a $10 phone and the connection is much better. I wouldn't recommend this phone.

Less than impressed.......2006-04-30

The old adage, "You get what you pay for," is applicable here. The base unit was functional enough, nothing special, and seemed to be well made. The cordless handset, although phyically decent, was totally inept and useless. According to the manual it was attributed to "interference in the 2.4ghz transmission frequency." There were so many caveats associated with the handset, "can't be near computer, radio, cell phone, microwave, cable TV, etc...." The recommended solutions were just as unuseable as the handset, "unplug the base, unhook the battery, reconnect both", "move the base closer to the handset," None of those worked, as a matter of fact in total desperation I put the cordless base right next to the corded base unit and it still did not work. I moved them both to the bedroom and still nothing, oh excuse me I did have a clock radio in there so that must have been responsible for insurmountable interference. Ended up returning the unit.

Good basic buy.......2006-03-17

I wanted a basic desktop phone without a lot of bells and whistles. Basic directory, speaker, mute, for home office. It has all these basic features with a portable handset as a bonus for a great price. Those listening to me on speaker say it is very clear, no static. Highly recommended for a basic home office phone.

No Caller ID Call Back Function.......2006-02-22

This phone has some nice features, including the easy to see back lit display, and the red blinking message light that indicates that my voice mail from the phone co has new messages. The one important feature missing is dial back of numbers shown in caller ID. It saves the 10 digit area code and number, i.e. 555-555-1234. If you press "display dial", it dials those 10 digits. In my area, like many, I think, there are times when you must only dial 7 digits, and other times when you must dial "1" plus the area code and then 7 digits. Dialing all ten digits for a call within my same area code won't go through, nor will a call outside my area code without a "1" before the 10 digits. I have other Caller ID Phones that prompt for these rules during set-up so that they know how to return calls with a one touch call back of the caller ID number shown. This one doen't.

Look Elsewhere.......2005-01-06

Within the 1st few weeks of owning the phone the cordless battery needed to be replaced. A few months later the cordless earpiece stopped producing sound. I've bought numerous $20 or less portables that are tougher and a better value. The base unit is fine but does nothing extraordinary that you can't get for less elsewhere.

My kids loved it but my 4 year old complained that one did not work within hours of me setting it up. I checked and sure enough there were extra screws rattling around in the controller. Too bad because they are compact and the kids really liked them so much that I did order another set to see if this is a random manufacturing glitch.
