ThinEdge design allows multi-display presentations. |
The ViewSonic VP201s possesses an extremely well thought-out ergonomic design. With an ultra-thin 0.67-inch bezel, you see more of your screen and less of the casing, which is important if you're considering tiling or stacking multiple panels, or even for single-panel wall mounting. For users looking for flexible desktop configurations, the VP201s offers a wide range of choices including tilt, swivel, pivot (for landscape or portrait viewing), and telescopic height adjustments.
 |
|
The thin profile saves space. |
In any setup you choose, you also get the benefits of wide 176-degree viewing (vertical and horizontal), ideal for those who move around a lot and for workgroup sharing or impromptu pow-wows. An anti-glare screen coating prevents light reflections from obstructing your view.
With USB 2.0 connectivity, connecting peripherals is made handy. The ViewSonic VP201s offers compatibility for both PC and Mac users (Mac adapter required) and is backed by a three-year warranty on parts, labor, and backlight.

Customer Reviews:
Great Monitor for the first 6 months.......2005-11-03
I've just read all the reviews and want to confirm what a couple of others have mentioned. This is a great LCD screen. The catches are that you have to tolerate a dead pixel or two and handle do a manufacturer replacement every 6 months when it dies.
I've had 2 VP201S die on me now and I don't think I'll be buying Viewsonic again anytime soon. The first 2 LCDs each when out after about 6-7 months of usage. The screen began jumping, at first just for an instant, but within 2 weeks of the first jump the jumping became incessant, even with no input plugged into the monitor and just looking at the display where it says its scanning for inputs.
When replacing my first VP201s, Viewsonic's customer service demanded to receive my dead monitor before shipping me a new one (they even made it sound like they would repair and then ship it back, which might take up to an extra month!). After a bit of arguing, it only took about 2-3 weeks to get a replacement each time. They never offered to put a hold on my credit card or anything like that in order to get me a new one faster.
I'm about to find out if I still have any warranty for this second LCD and repeat the whole thing, although now I know to ask for the credit card hold...
** Update: I've had another one of these die on me. I finally figured out a DIY fix for the sync issues they have - simply lift the monitor to its maximum height on its base, then lower it all the way, quickly. When it hits the bottom, the jarring seems to be just right for fixing it for a couple more weeks. I've managed to keep my current Viewsonic working for an extra six months by simply abusing it this way.
Impressive monitor, worth the money.......2005-10-04
I am a developer and spend 50+ hours a week in front of my computer, so a good monitor is required. I moved across country and decided not to haul my old 21" crt with me, and just buy a new monitor once I arrived. I spent several days online and in the store comparing specs, prices, and doing store comparisons. I was hesitant to spend so much on a monitor at first, but after so much comparison I decided it was worth it, and I'm glad I did. I run SuSE Linux, so that can sometimes cause problems with gear since most of the world still pretends no one uses linux on the desktop, but I had no problems running this display in its native resolution. I have had it for over a year and still have no real complaints. Sometimes if the machine comes out of suspend the image can be a little fuzzy, which requires running the auto-image adjust to bring it back inline. (this is easy, two button presses on the front of the monitor.)
Not sure about the other reports of hardware failure, maybe they were earlier models? I have had no problems and the unit seems very well engineered to me.
Customer last but your money first policy.......2005-06-02
My VP201s had flickering pixels and instability only with DVI. The vendor would not allow a return but sent me to Viewsonic -- this was my second day of ownership. Viewsonic help insisted the problem was my computer/graphics card. After testing with different graphics cards, cables, and computers, Viewsonic finally sent one of their replacement "retreads" i.e., scuffed and beat up. I had to pay to ship the first one back. The retread would not power down and it was replaced by yet again another defective retread. Finally the third one they sent -- they took a full 4 weeks to send it -- was "new" but its manufacturing date was already one year old (probably "remanufactured new" in accordance to their policy). During my first nine months of ownership two months of time was consumed shipping these defective products back to the US distributor. I had to buy another monitor. So I've paid for a 36 month warranty but only receive 34 months. The only way to speed up this shipping process is to allow them to put a hold on your credit card (and possibly charge your account without notifying you) the full retail value of a new VP201s. (YOU PAY for their mistake!) If you buy any of their products I recommend that you buy from a dealer that will allow you to immediately return a defective product for refund or replacement. Otherwise, do business with a company that puts the customer first.
Not Mac Friendly.......2005-05-08
Despite the claims (and logos) on the box, this item is not Macintosh friendly. The Mac setup/drivers disc it ships with is OS9 (hello, that was 3 years ago) only. The monitor will not work at the 1600x1200 resolution it touts without drivers that do not exist for the modern Mac. Customer support tried to shift the blame elswhere. Otherwise the product has worked fine (at lower resolution).
great image and features but a few quality issues.......2005-03-15
pros:
- the stand is the best part. It can swivel side to side easily and the monitor can rotate into portrait mode. Very few other monitors can do this.
- excellent image
- very thin bezel
cons:
- the first one I got went black 5 months after I bought it.
- two faint splotches, about the size of the hole from a hole punch, in the top left and bottom right corner of the screen. It looks like artifacts from the construction, not dead pixels

The adjustable-height swiveling stand can be removed if you'd rather make use of an optional 100 mm wall mount. You can position the screen horizontally or vertically (landscape or portrait orientation) using the pivot feature, and thanks to wide 176-degree viewing angles, you can place the monitor almost anywhere on your desk or on the wall and still get a clear picture. Plus, the anti-glare coating deflects harsh room light. ViewSonic provides a three-year warranty covering parts, labor, and backlight.

Customer Reviews:
Viewsonic warranty is worthless.......2007-03-12
I had this monitor for 2 years. One day it went black, power light would indicate it's on but I'd get no display. I arranged to send it into Viewsonic. After waiting a month, they finally told me they had fixed it. They then accidentally sent my monitor back to the wrong customer. After a week of trying to get it back from UPS, they decided to send me another one.
A week later I got the "new" one. When I turned it on, the whole screen had an orange tint to it. With gamma correction it looked almost decent (Red @ .68, green @ .78. blue @ 1.0 gamma). It was then I noticed that images would burn into the screen in 1-2 minutes. If I left a web browser in a position for 2 minutes, moved it, I could still see the text.
I called them and told them the replacement was unacceptable. I sent it in for replacement again. 2 weeks later I got a second refurbished monitor. This one has pretty good color, but images still burn in if left for 10-15 minutes. This is poor quality compared to other LCDs I have.
I've been a loyal Viewsonic customer for 10 years and I've recommended them to many friends. I will never buy from them again.
Warranties apparently are a low priority at Viewsonic.......2006-09-01
I purchased a VP201b at the end of 2005 and was thrilled with the performance and overall look of the produt. During the first week of July 2006, my VP201b simply stopped working. The power lights worked and it indicated that there was a signal, however no picture could be obtained. I contacted Viewsonic support online and was not able to diagnose the problem, so I called Viewsonic's support number and spoke to a representative. The representative realized that the monitor needed repair and instructed me to mail it to a support group called Teleplan in Calexico California. I carefully packed up my monitor and shipped it off to Calexico as instructed with UPS tracking notifications and insured it during transit. Viewsonic support told me to expect 10-15 business days for the repair. Well after 6 weeks I began to contact Viewsonic to ask for a status on the repair. It took 3 calls to finally get a status of "call back next Wednesday and ask them if a monitor has been allocated for me". I was told this would get attention. I did call back on the "Wednesday" and was told that one would be allocated for me and to expect it the following week. Nothing came. Again, a week and a half has passed and no word. I called again and was told that they are out of inventory and I should call back in 2 days on Friday to find out if they could give me at least some hope of receiving either a working VP201b or a suitable replacement. I have been a Viewsonic customer for12 years, but I do have to say that Samsung is looking better and better. If you have an opportunity to get a store or other third party warranty for service, please do. You will save lots of time and headaches.
Regards,
Unhappy Viewsonic customer
Absolutely Phenomenal.......2005-12-02
This will probably be the shortest review I've ever done, 'cause I've always held that the most useful points in a review are the negatives, not the positives - and folks, there just aren't any here that I can find.
There are a couple of excellent reviews below that describe the minor manual tweaks needed to get this monitor to perform at optimum. Well maybe it's just my luck but aside from setting the resolution to 1600 X 1200 there was literally nothing I had to do with this monitor but sit back and be blown away.
There are absolutely no dead or stuck pixels; there is absolutely no video smear in scrolling or DVD playback or gaming; and the image quality... !!
I've seen some certifiable turkeys in the LCD monitors of friends, family and employers - those washed-out, acid-blurred atrocities that no ethical company should even think of releasing for sale. This is my very first flat-panel LCD after years of CRTs - my last being a 19" Gateway CRT that's still in perfect condition (but HUGE) - and I bought it sight-unseen on the strength of reviews and a careful comparison of specs, particularly contrast/brightness and refresh rate.
I'd never dreamed that I'd find an LCD monitor with all of the richness of contrast, sharpness and vibrancy of color you normally only find on CRTs - but the Viewsonic VP201b matches the performance of CRTs with ease, almost with a kind of cocky self-assuredness, as if to say "No problem..." 8^D
As a way of underscoring the value packed into this unit, Viewsonic has integrated a USB hub almost invisibly to the back of the housing - which great little extra neatly wipes away the necessity of shelling out more nickels and dimes for a cumbersome standalone box at my station. Incredible.
This is the kind of product that makes you want to treat the producing company's engineering and management staff to a round of cold, frothy brews. On the often bumpy road of computer technology advancement, Viewsonic has proved itself to be a benchmark of excellence with the VP monitor line. These aren't cheap, but I'd consider this monitor to be a bargain at twice the price.
Buy with confidence and expect to be amazed.
Top Notch Product at a Great Price.......2005-09-01
It is really hard to beat a monitor with these features at this price. You can find better clairity with other monitors, but will sacrifice pixel response time (so much so that you will see streaking with fast on screen motion), and be paying 200-600 more. I have dealt with other 20(3)"monitors costing 2-3 times the ammount of this one with much worse results (Ie HP's 2035, Apple Cinema Displays, various NEC's and Sony's). Comes with 3yr warranty (including back light) USB 2.0 Hub built in. Monitor turn, piviots and adjusts for height with ease allowing good for customization. DVI and D-Sub. The nice thin bezel gives it a streamlined look and if you want to get multiple monitors the seams will be smaller for a better appearance. It is also MAC compatible. Mine shipped with 2 dead/stuck pixels, which isn't really that bad (pixel problems are inherent with this technology, it's the way it is. VS won't replace until something like 6-8 dead) The old "if you can't find any dead pixels, you aren't looking hard enough." saying applies here. My only complaint is the buttons on the front panel are hard to see and use, but i'll get over it. If you are using a CRT and want to get off, or just want more desktop space, this is your exit, you won't be sorry.
BUENO MONITOR.......2005-08-31
A FAVOR:

Calidad gráfica y colores vivos
Fácil para configurar los controles en pantalla

CONTRAS:
Despues de 1.5 años de uso se me dañó. Actualmente lo envié a garantía para que lo repararan. Por haberme dado problemas tan pronto es que no le doy las 5 estrellas. Del resto el monitor no me ha dado problemas de ningún tipo.

Product Description
With crystal-clear sound and the ability to talk with several friends, the 22 Channel GMRS ecoterra 2-way radio is the ultimate choice in affordable GMRS radio communications.
Amazon.com Product Description
Stay connected with your buddies while hiking on the trail, riding the ski lift, or exploring other locations within a 7-mile range with this pair of GMRS750 two-way radios. Also ideal as a neighborhood watch tool and workplace aid, each radio features 22 channels (15 GMRS and 7 FRS) and 38 CTCSS privacy codes, along with a voice-activated transmitter that enables hands-free communication when used with the included headset and microphone. The impressive range of channels and privacy codes gives you several communication options, ensuring that you can almost always talk with friends or family via an exclusive, uninterrupted signal (radios must be set on the same channel and code to communicate).
Browsing for channels is straightforward and intuitive thanks to the scan feature, which looks for active channels while you view the display, and the monitor function, which listens for weak signals on a given channel. To transmit on a GMRS or FRS channel, merely press the PTT button while the scan is paused. It's important to note that the transmission range will vary depending on the channel and the surrounding terrain. Should the signal prove too weak for a given situation, however, you can extend it via the Power Boost button.
Each GMRS750 radio also receives seven NOAA National Weather Service channels along with emergency/weather alerts. When in emergency/weather alert mode, the system functions as it does in GMRS/FRS mode, but also monitors the selected channel for tornado, thunderstorm, tsunami, and other weather warnings. When using the weather function, users can't receive GMRS communications, however.
Additional features include a backlit LCD display with a battery strength meter, a keypad lock that keeps you from accidentally pressing buttons at the wrong time (such as when a radio is in your pocket), a headset jack, and your choice of five different call tones. The radios each run on four AA batteries (the bundle includes eight AAs to get you started) and include belt clips for efficient transport. The entire bundle is backed by a one-year warranty on parts and labor.
What's in the Box
Two GMRS750 two-way radios, two headset microphones, eight AA batteries, two belt clips, user's manual.

Decent phone but no slick features.......2006-03-22
Has good reception, small and lightweight. Was looking for better speed dial features. Awkward in that department. Don't think I'll bother to buy extra handsets. Will probably relagate to an upstairs bedroom and look for one with better speed features for the kitchen.
V-tech i6861 5.8 GHz phone review.......2006-03-19
I have been very pleased with this item since purchasing it from Amazon.com. I am presently looking for 2 add on phones of the same model to extend the use of this multi-system unit.
Disernia-2.......2006-02-24
The base unit works great. I really like all the features. It was very easy to set up the two handsets. I especially like the intercom feature, it allows me to talk to my wift at the other end of our mobilehome without yelling.
Pleased w/Purchase.......2006-02-22
I've been researching this unit for some time, reading mixed reviews and also comparing it to similar brands. Well, my son suggested that I go on ahead and buy the unit -- if it doesn't work, send it back. So I got it and can only say good things about this phone. Also purchased 2 of the mi6820 (additional handsets) for that expandable/wireless affect. Reception and clarity is great - no static. I've taken the phone outside and walked the entire 100x100 feet of our home and didn't receive not so much as a blip of static.
Love the options on the phone i.e., changing ring tones for each phone, intercom, transferring phone calls from handset to handset, ability to share phone books, caller ids and editing those items having it affect all 3 handsets at once. I think it would be nice if you could hit the Redial button and make a call from any of the handsets not just the handset you originally made the call from. I guess I'm looking for some sort of multi-redial feature. Not a big deal. Also would be very nice to have the phone pager built into the mi6820. With the belt clip V-Tech provides, my husband and son have a habit of taking the phones wherever then we have a grand time of playing the Secret Squirrel game -- trying to locate the darn thing :) The mi6861 does have the phone pager built within the unit. Enjoying the answering machine options on the mi6861 i.e., multi-mail box feature. We created a simple message and we all seem to be receiving messages quite well. The unit is quite easy to operate and skipping through and deleting messages one at a time or all at once is easy.
All in all - nice little phone for the money
Good, small, sleek phones.......2006-02-20
I have had these for about 9 months now. For every day use in a 2 bedroom apt they work really well. The are small and sleek, unlike many other phones. The answering machine sounds clear and is easy to use. I am not sure about the 2.4 vs. 5.8 gHz issue brought up by other users. That is probably why these are relatively inexpensive.

Product Description
Get the competitive advantage of color without the slow speeds, high operating costs, and complex maintenance that come with most color lasers. Now there's a brand new alternative. A winning combination of speed, quality, and easy, cost-effective color printing. That's the whole idea behind the design of the Phaser 840 color printer. With color print speeds over twice as fast as the typical color laser, the Phaser 840 printer can keep up with the busiest, most demanding workgroups on the network. Based on one of the most successful technologies in the history of workgroup color printers, the Phaser 840 solid-ink printer is a leap forward in color quality, performance, and no-nonsense productivity. Everything about the Phaser 840 color printer is a study in advanced technology, making life simple and remarkably cost effective for any workgroup with a color job to do. Set up is a breeze with its "plug-and-print" right-out-of-the-box design. It's the only color printer of its kind with environmentally friendly ColorStix solid ink sticks. Top off the ink supply any time without interrupting printing. Now high performance and high-resolution color are easy to share and easy to manage, thanks to the 840's built-in 10BaseT Ethernet interface and Web-based PhaserLink management software.
