This is a great monitor, great picture, great text, however the only complaint I have is that it started having trouble right after the warranty ran out.

I'm always wary of products like this one, that are described as "good value", because that often means mediocre quality at an aggressive price. That's not the case here. The Optiquest/Viewsonic Q95 really delivers outstanding performance - both text and graphics - at a bargain price.

Because flat-panel LCD monitors are pressuring the prices of flat-screen CRT monitors which in turn are pressuring the prices of conventional "curved" screen CRTs (like the Q95), this monitor is selling for less than half of what it cost just a few years ago. If you're the type of person who's not happy unless they have the latest technology, then this ISN'T your monitor. Otherwise, you may want to give it careful consideration.

Also, if you require very high screen resolutions, you won't be happy. The Q95 can do 1280x1024 with a decent refresh rate (80hz), but no higher unless you're immune to the flicker that comes with low refresh rates. I have mine set to 1152x864 at 90hz and am very happy with it there. I do lots of work with text - Excel and other spreadsheet-type type programs - and have no need for any higher resolution than that.

Speaking of text, the Q95 is superb. Letters are sharp and black. I initially looked at the Samsung 955DF, but in 2 different stores where I was able to find it, its text was very blurry. Its possible that it was just the way it was set up, but I've also read some reviews of the 955DF that raised the same objection.

Graphics performance from the Q95 is also quite good. Images are bright and vivid, DVDs look great.

All monitors require calibration and this one is no exception. I recommend that you find the free Nokia Monitor Test program out on the web and also check out some of the web sites devoted to the subject (which you can find by pointing your search engine at "monitor calibration"). Optiquest gives you all the controls you need, except that I found that mine also required a gamma adjustment, which is NOT one of the available monitor controls. I was, however, able to set it with the driver software for my video card. You may want to double-check that your video driver offers this, as the display was a little dark without it.

I've read some reviews that complain that the controls are confusing to use. These are the same people who can't set the clocks in their VCRs. I had no trouble.

The monitor is quite compact. It fits in almost the same space as my old Iiyama 17" which it replaced.

To hold it's price down, the Q95 offers little in the way of additional bells-and-whistles. No USB hubs, no component video input, no integrated speakers. You get a monitor with integrated video cable, a stand, a power cord and a driver diskette.

If you aren't a tech-head who has to have the latest-and-greatest hardware, or a graphics person who needs to work at 1600x1200, this might just be a way for you to have a big monitor at a small price.

I purchased this knowing that it was not a high dollar unit so I did not expect much. However I did expect it to hav a quick connect like all the other xbox controllers. I have a 65 inch tv and I have to use an extension cable. This wheel was just a waist of money for me.

The leather on this case is not soft and feels like it's plastic leather (or Pleather). However, the case comes with a tag that claims it's Genuine Leather. The size is perfect for me at 20L x 12W x 10D inches. These measurements are approximate. The shoulder strap is quite comfortable if you flip it over and use the top part to rest on your shoulder. The side intended to rest on your shoulder is harder. The compartment for the laptop is wider than needed but the multiple pockets and other compartments more than make up for the bulky design of the bag. If you are on a budget or need a temporary bag for the upcoming school season, this case will fit your needs.

Somewhat good.......2005-08-04

The Good:
-The Media reader is a great add-on. It works with standard scroll and slideshow functions.
-The Sound is great, it's good to not have to hook all components to the receiver and TV. With the n3200w, you can have one input to the receiver from the tv, and it sounds great (it's only stereo. No dolby 5.1).
-The tv is bright. It has no problem being too dark, and even if it is, there is a menu to adjust the brightness and contrast

The Bad:
-With all analog input signals (except the PC), the picture gets very NOISY. Items in focus are usually void of this problem, but there is lots of noise on backgrounds. It also has a bad problem with fading. For example, if you ever seen the New Line Cinema logo/intro to a movie, there is a glow behind the picture of the film. With this tv, the glow is very fuzzy, and it isn't a smooth transition from light to dark; you see "steps." This is has not been a problem with using the VGA and DVI inputs however. Perhaps it has a problem with scaling to any resolution besides it's native (1280x768).

Overall:
The ViewSonic is a good overall package, especially for the price. It is wall mountable (although I haven't tried it), and it has most of the needed inputs (except HDMI, which you can buy a converter to DVI). However, for straight cable signals, s-video and component, you will have to move your seat/couch back if you don't want to notice noise and "rain" in the background.

Viewsonic Support.......2005-05-16

Viewsonic does not offer in home service for this large monitor (like many other manufacturers). If you have a problem you will need to ship it to Viewsonic.

I have what I thought was a minor problem which could easily be resolved. The media reader did not work properly. After much going back and forth with Viewsonic their service department determined the media reader portion of the N3200W does not work properly with some standard digital camera files and now states "the media reader is considered a courtesy picture viewing function of the display" and as such will not guarantee that it will perform properly. The N3200W product information does not call the reader a courtesy function as I took in good faith it would work, it doesn't work with many jpg files.

I have not yet determined if all other functions work properly (I don't use all the inputs/outputs). Are there other "Courtesy" functions not supported by Viewsonic?

Highly Recommended LCD HDTV.......2004-12-14

Great features - Wonderful picture quality connecting to regular satelite TV, Upconverter samsung hd dvd player (thru DVI input) and computer - Good price 2078$ from microcenter (compare to other expensive 32'' lcd tv like sony, panasonic, sharp...). That is all i can say about this lcd hdtv after 3 days of using.
I have bought 26'' samsung, sharp and 30'' olevia. None of them is as good as this one. I returned them all. I highly recommend of this one. Hopefully, this would help you guys something on purchasing a TV. (-:
