Scotty, I need this in a bigger size!.......2007-03-04

I agree this is a wonderful monitor for static images. I bought this and a wonderful ATI FireGL card for my astrophotography. I would not be able to make the images I do without it. As said below though, I would love to see a 30 in+ version of this. If you are a Adobe Photoshop user this is a must. Yes I know it's expensive. Start your own charity. You wouldn't believe how easy it is to pay for your toys with one. I personally give one scholarship a year for the freshman student who writes the best essay about how a specific Star Trek episode (any series) affected their lives or their view of the world. I am working on a bingo hall to fund more toys, and more scholarships. By the way, any money I make from the sales of my astrophotography is put in the scholarship funds also.

The White Elephant of the Display Kingdom.......2006-05-29

I'm not quite sure where to begin with this review. I guess I should start by stating, right up front, that the VP2290B (and it's twin, the IBM T221) can NOT be used -- or even considered for use -- as a "general purpose" display for your computer. It's a *highly* specialized display that is really meant to be used to display one thing and one thing only -- STATIC images such as photographs, CAD/CAE drawings, and other *very* high resolution graphics.

You simply can NOT use this monitor as a primary Windows (or any other OS) display. You'll need a second "normal" display for that purpose running from a completely separate display adapter (I use a 24" LCD). The VP2290 can't be run from a standard graphics adapter -- even the latest and greatest like an nVidia 7900GTX/512 or an ATI X1900XTX. It needs MORE! You'll need either a Matrox Parhelia 256/PCI or a Quadro FX 4500 or above. To run it require BOTH DVI ports simultaneously via two "funky" non-standard DVI cables. Basically, the display "stitches" four "panels" together into one seamless display -- with staggering clarity.

With the VP2290 you can edit an image from the latest 8MP digital SLR at 100% and fit the ENTIRE image on the display. GULP! The brightness/contrast specs may not inspire awe, but believe me when I say that they are quite misleading. My 24" LCD has double the stated B/C specs but the VP still looks brighter and holds more shadow detail.

You can't play video or prettymuch ANYTHING with motion (forget gaming) because the "refresh" is only 50Hz. Even web Flash animations blur and ghost -- but if you're into Photoshop and have a high-MP camera then this is, in no uncertain terms, THE Big, Bad Wolf.

Forget about text. Sure it redefines "razor sharp," but you'll need an electron microscope to see any of it. Resolution-wise it absolutely DWARFS the current 30" mega-displays on the market with DOUBLE the gross pixel count -- in a considerably smaller area. You do the math. Ideally I'd like to have a 30" for my general-purpose display and the VP2290 as my graphic editor (don't put ANYTHING other than the image on it. Menus will disappear into postage-stamp sized boxes on the VP). Some dreams are just meant to come true.

To sum up, the VP2290 has a very narrow performance envelope. If you are a graphics editor of one sort or another -- STATIC graphics -- then the VP is the apex predator of the display universe. Nothing else can even come close. It makes a 30" display look like it has glowing tennis balls for pixels. The resolution is SO high that it is simply impossible to see any pixels with the naked eye. It looks like you're seeing a continuous tone image even with your face plastered to the screen. Color reproduction is flawless, and I don't use that word lightly. The unit itself is big, thick, and bulky for an LCD, but it's still no CRT.

I'd LOVE to see this resolution in a fast 40" made-for-PC display for $3,000 or less. They couldn't manufacture enough of them.

Two days after I ordered the sub, I received an email from the seller. The email was about the item being back ordered. With in 4 or 5 days the sub was at my front door. I was lookin at this sub at Circuit City and it was $150 to 200 more and was going to take 14 busniess days to get to the store. The seller was cheaper, 7 days faster then Circuit City, and let me know a potential problem.

WOW! That about sums it up, I never thought a 10" sub could produce such a fantastic atmosphere. I have a large great room with very high cathedral ceilings and a lot of floor space; the CHT-10 fills the entire space with tremendous warmth and accurate sub-range audio. After my initial THX setup and tuning was complete I was completely blown away; during the THX sub audio sweep the bass dipped so low that the audio was almost non-existent, but the feeling throughout the structure was awesome. This has to be the best sounding sub I've ever experienced, I was fortunate to find this in a local Circuit City audio room and was very impressed there. This is one you need to hear and feel to believe.

Definitely not for apartment dwellers.

holy ...bass.......2002-12-30

While your girlfriend might not appreciate it (actually..hmm...if you placed it under her seat...anyway) this is a must have for the complete surround sound system. This 10" will shake the house with nice, clean, responsive bass. Along with the need for good loud explosions and the like in action movies, ambient bass is necessary to set moods and this sub is awesome at both. It doesn't only do movies, music sounds equally as impressive. Unless you get a really top of the line surround sound reciever, I don't think they reproduce music as well as a comparable stereo reciever, but this sub really fills in the space and creates a full sound.

I would recommend this sub to anyone who wants powerful, deep, clean bass. I have yet to hear this sub clip/distort. If I could bring it into bed with me, I would.

All I can say is WOW! As with all 10" speakers, the bass is extremely tight. Where this one stands out is the depth of the bass...the specs say 20 MHz...I'm thinking that may be a little conservative. The first time I saw the price I thought it was a little high, but after hearing it, it's worth every penny. If you're in the market for a sub, do NOT pass this one up.

Nice for an apartment.......2005-12-05

Look Im not looking to throw parties every saturday night. Or become the next Dj of the year. What I did want was a little boom in my movies and deeper base in my music. Got it in this compact YAMAHA YST-SW015 6.5" Powered Subwoofer. Compact but delivers great base. I not saying I have to nail down the china cabinet but if I turn it up all the way I would get a visit from my landlord:-).

The Yamaha YST-SW015 subwoofer is a very nice addition to my Onkyo MCR35-Tech compact stereo system. It adds the strong low frequency bass missing from this and most shelf stereo systems (because of the compact speaker size). Not only does it sound great, but it looks great as well, with the compact black cabinet and the brushed aluminum controls on the front of the unit. Well worth the less than $100 price.

This Yamaha YST-SW015 subwoofer is a perfect companion for the Harmon KardonHK19.5 speakers that came with my computer. Whereas before the sounds were tinny, this subwoofer completes the sound. Both my games and my cd's sound marvelous. And the price that Amazon is asking makes it well worth the investment. Highly recommended!

I have a product solution that does not get caught up in all the windows installation process. we are using these drives like a server and they are fantastic. These are major client applications that have no downtime with these units.

Gee no server, windows software, virus software or anything else. For a 3-4 user system again depnding on the software you have it works great.

Suggestion though is to use a high gain antenna for best wifi connectivity

This product is pretty good for the price. It was very easy to set up and does what I want it (hold digital media for multiple computer and Xbox access) to well.

I set it up so that it directly connected to my wireless router, and intended to access the drive via 802.11g from my wife's and mine laptops. As I was moving files to the machine, the wireless transfer was pretty slow and the connection dropped out intermittently. I lost patience and connected the laptops directly to the router (and after some mildly irritating drive connection issues) the transfer was much smoother and faster. The wireless connection strength was fine, but I was only getting about 10kbit from 3 feet away. The wired provided between 100kbits and 300kbits. I recommend transfering large amounts of data over a wired connection.

I tested the connection speed by playing a video on my TV via Xbox (WMC) and the speed was fine to keep the (SD) video running smoothly. Music was also fine.

I echo Travis' comments. It came with my Dell PC and took away over 3 Gigs of data (Source Code,Images Documents etc everything !!!) by crashing 1 and half year later. What a waste. Not even worth the single star.

Western Digital (WD) drives have never let me down. Granted, it all depends on the use and environment you install this piece of media - and some prefer Maxtor or Seagate. In the EIDE world of drives, my choice is WD. It's incredibly quiet, very fast (especially when you connect it to an ATA/100 card on a PCI slot -- hot dang!), and allows you a quick solution for increased storage. I used this exact drive to reincarnate an old Pentium class I machine into a nice little file server on my home LAN. With a 100mb PCI network card, it almost competes with a low end Dell server.

It's out there, and I'm lovin' every minute of it!

Never buy this (expletive) harddrive........2002-09-25

This piece of (expletive) destroyed the movie that my friends and I were creating. This (expletive) piece of (expletive) erased a combined 1000+ hours of work that we had put into making a fun 45 minute movie that we had named My Pirate. We were literally five minutes away from finishing rendering and viewing the complete movie for the first time when this mother(expletive)piece of(expletive)(expletive)(expletive) crashed and left us with nothing more than the memories we had. Luckily, we still have the raw footage and we plan on creating a 2.0 version of My Pirate, but my friend...we'll call him Brad Miller to protect his real name...has already invested in another harddrive and we have all learned never to invest in Western Digital ever again. I find it unfortunate that i had to actually give this product a star, its more fitting to rate this with 5 steaming piles of (expletive).

I bought this HD one year ago, I had tons of information like my personal files, also 3000 songs, 250 photos, including the last three digital photos I took to my Dad before he passed away, and all are gone. I could maybe forget the whole thing, but I can't have my photos back. I tried to solve the problem, paid money, did everything possible to see if someone could fix it...what a mistake, I can't believe it...
