Amazing piece of Gear.......2007-05-05

This was my first purchase of a lcd flat screen monitor. I bought it to replace an old crt 17in ViewSonic. The 930b is amazing. It is plug and play, XP Pro recognized it immediately.

I have an onboard video card, so I have to use the analog plug, but the picture quality is still excellent. Because I have a cheap factory video card, the tilt rotation from landscape to portrait does not work. However, this isn't a big deal because a new video card is cheap and most people who would buy this for the tilt rotation probably have a video card that supports it.

The view angle is also spectacular. I can see the monitor from all angles no problem without any loss of color. Overall worth the money.

Brightness and clarity.......2007-01-10

I found this monitor through a review in a computer magazine. I was a bit skeptical because I had never heard of the maker. Well, I love it. The setup times was under 5 minutes. I plugged it in and it worked. No muss, no fuss. The screen is very easy to read and is just the right size. I highly recommend it.

Great imaging but annoying halo or ghost effects.......2006-12-30

After a couple of months my VP930b showed halo or ghost effects of fine black detail, e.g., characters, gridlines or the mouse pointer, on non-white backgrounds. These effects are replicas of the letters or lines in white, offset slightly above and to the left of the black letters or lines. The halo effect in color is somewhat more complex with objects such as desktop icons or low resolution images.
To eliminate my 4-year old VGA video card as a possible cause of the artifacts I installed a new Nvidia FX5500 graphics card and connected it via DVI. (This card was one of the few in stock at CompUSA that fit my AGP 4x slot.) The artifacts are still there, now sharper than before.
I run the VP930b at its native resolution and 60Hz refresh rate.
I regularly profile my VP930b with a Gretag Macbeth Eye-One Match 3 system; the process includes calibrating contrast and brightness.
Aside from office applications I work mainly in Photoshop CS2. With the new GPU and DVI, image definition and color rendition are outstanding.
My attempts to elicit an intelligent response from ViewSonic's customer service have not been successful. "Send it in and we'll see" is not my idea of troubleshooting.

This view sonic is a great monitor. Excellent color and clarity. It was very easy to install and set up. Being able to adjust it up and down as well as vertical is a big plus in my opinion.The stand is very strong and gives great support to the monitor. It has a sleek modern look. Pro CRT Replacement.......2006-11-08

I have been putting off purchasing a LCD panel for two reasons: 1. waiting for the prices to come down; 2. waiting for the quality to match my 21" ViewSonic P815. This model finally hit the mark for me. The price is great, and the picture quality is just about as good as my old pro level CRT. As a bonus, the base for this monitor is highly adjustable -- a must for anyone who needs to sit in front of the computer screen for long periods.

I've had this monitor for a couple of months. I chose this model because it was highly rated by PC World magazine. It is very clear and easy to read, with great colors. Much easier to read than the Sony Triniton thay I was using. I highly recommend it.

Amp problems.......2003-12-02

I bought this sub 2 years ago, and one day i turned the power switch on the amp did not switch on. i looked behind the sub, and the light did not even come on! I tried replacing the fuse, but it kept blowing them, so I took it back, but they said I would have pay for the shipping. I gave it to someone that needed it, and they are powering it by an external amp. On another note, the sound was descent, and it did play pretty low, but not low enough. It was loud, and provided tight, clean bass. I now own a jbl sub, and I would recommend listening or purchasing one of their subs.

First, for the "Audio enthusiast from Tigard OR.
Ther is no way the Sony SAWM40 or the AudioSource 15 come even close to the Velodyne CHT-8, those wanabies just do not cut it,
they have a lot of "Boom" but none is clean clear defined BASS.
THIS IS A COMMON MISTAKE ON THE PART OF NOVICES.
And just how did that person measure the results? By reading the ads?
This sub goes down enough for most peoples' ears anyway and in my setup it produces superb results that would not shame subs costing 3 times as much.

i've owned my sub for a little over a year and it has proven to me day after day that it can take anything i throw at it and still perform wonderfully. It hits the lowest notes without a problem and at the same time is very crisp and very clean. being as i own a car audio business i know what it is to hear good bass. I would never trade this for anything else....except for maybe the 10" or 12"

Ok, but..............2002-12-02

Well, this sub is powerful, and it is tight and clean, but i can't give it 5 stars for one simple reason. It only goes down to 35 hz. The whole purpose of a sub is to fill out the lowest frequencies of the sound spectrum. This sub just doesn't do it. I listen to mostly rap music and i also have a fair collection of dvd's. Most people will probably immediately say....oh he listens to rap, he doesn't know anything about quality speakers. Well, either way, i will say that this is a high quality product, but if you're looking for really low bass, go with something else. Sony's SAWM40 does a good job for about 200 dollars, and the audiosource fifteen does a wonderful job for 190 dollars. I just can't justify paying 300 dollars for something that doesn't cover the whole frequency range.

I wouldn't consider myself an audiophile, but an audio enthusiast. I began a quest to totally revamp my entertainment system about 6 months ago and in the process did A LOT of searching, read A LOT of reviews. I had a pretty decent pioneer prologic receiver that I had in college (only 6 years old). But with DVD's having digital surround sound, my prologic just wasnt' cutting it anymore. I also didn't have a subwoofer... It was time to upgrade.
I ended up getting a very nice receiver, in the Onkyo TX-DS797. I have nice floor standing JBL speakers in front as well as a very nice center channel (sorry, I don't know the model #) and JBL N24 II in back. My DVD player is a Toshiba SD-1700 (I've had great experiece with Toshiba products) and the Sony KV-27FS100 flat screen tv. I have monster speaker wire, audio and video cable throughout the system.
I wasn't sure about where to even start looking for subwoofers, since they were new to me. My friend has a nice Klipsch sub, I believe 10". It sounds awesome. I wasn't going to spend that much on a sub though...
When I bought my receiver at Circuit City, I asked about subs and they gave me some information on Cerwin-Vega and Velodyne. I had never heard of Velodyne before then. But when I looked into it more on the internet, I saw lots and lots of good reviews on their subs, which I believe is all they make. That's pretty impressive right there! I had Circuit City crank it up in their theatre room and it sounded very tight, and clean. It's hard to tell at the store, since everything is concrete and solid, it's hard to get a feel for what it would be like in your home. But the reviews I read really emphasized how "tight and clean" the sub was.
I live in a small apartment, so I knew that I couldn't get a really big sub. I looked briefly at the JBL PB-10 sub. It takes up more room that the CHT-8, plus reviews talked about a low humming noise when it's on. I like JBL, but I didn't want to take the chance with that.
When I got everything hooked up, I was overly impressed with the bass from the sub!! I only keep it on about 1/4 "volume" and it's already a lot! Sure enough, the reviews were right about how tight the bass is. I can even tell between the JBL and the Klipsch. Those seem to drown out other sounds with their base, but the CHT-8 really compliments other speakers. Not too much bass, but definitely enough!
The 8" sub really acts like a 10" sub too. Even when I get a house eventually, I'm sure this will provide more than enough bass and power than I'll ever need.

I think this excellent system is very smooth. neutral and accurate. Classical, pop, jazz, rock music and movies are produced with full effect and accuracy in all formats. The speakers are solidly built and very attractive in ebony with slight silvertone metal accents.

This is a great speakers set, the sound is amazing, both low and high frecuencies sound just terrific, this is the best you can find for the money. I have them plug on my yamaha receiver and it sounds really good. The only thing I could complain is the size of the speaker, they are a litle bit bulky.

They aren't the best but I got them for under 250. The sub is really nice but the speakers aren't top of the line. But again, I got them for 250. Worth the 250! :)

Ideal Storage for Windows System at Home Small Office.......2006-07-06

I had this disk for over two years. I had been worried whether the business would hold on long enough with all competitions since they are the one of a kind thing comparing to other storage solutions. They do.

In general, I don't like proprietary product. This disk is an exception, because it's so easy to use; also it's very reliable. With updated driver, the disk support multiple concurrent access for both read and write. It's secure without too much hassle. Under Windows, it appears and behaves just as a regular disk. Very nice.

The only complaint is that their Linux driver does not work for me. I checked their support forum, and noticed the development for Linux driver had been stuck for quite a while. Recently I had to buy a storage from another company recently because I had a couple of Linux boxes in my office; but I do miss the convenience with the NetDisk.

On the other hand, I wish they would open their protocol, so as to make it a standard.

Good Hard Drive!.......2005-08-30

I don't know much about computers, but I searched the Internet for an external hard drive to back up files. After reading other consumer reviews, I settled on the XIMETA NetDisk 80 GB Hard Drive (NDU10-80)for $138.00. I have a wireless router, so I was happy to see that I could install the hard drive to the router instead of using up a USB port. So the router and the hard drive are now in one room and the computer in another! Cool! I had to go to the Windows web site to figure out how to back up my files (I have Windows XP) and it was a simple as inserting the original Windows set up disk and installing the back up feature. So now I back up once a week with no problems. I've only had this hard drive for a few weeks, so I can't attest to it's durability or longevity, but it seems to do the job well now.

awesome drive.......2005-06-29

I have been using my 80Gb ximeta ndas for a while now and just now I am robocopying 40Gb of mp3 files to it on a copper connected pc and on a 802.11B connection am listening to mp3 files that reside on the ximeta device. No buffering issues whatsoever. I am also browsing the internet at the same time over the same 10Mb wireless link.
This will work great with my netgear mp101 mp3 streamer.

when the price is right, I will buy another unit.

I have the model which is blue. Same model number as this one, but I am not sure if they are exactly the same. With this one, it works great with XP, just plug it into an ethernet port on your network hub and it shows up as another hard drive on your PC. The only complaints I have is that it gets hot, so I like to turn it off when not in use, but there is no on/off switch so I have to unplug the power source.

Good product........2004-08-06

This is very interesting and well built product. In some of the reviews here and on the net, there are some discrepancies. Ximeta has obviously revised the product, for one if you have only windows 2K or windows XP machines, they can all read and write simultaneously, not one at a time. Also there are no dip switches on mine, it automatically decides weather you want to use the USB or the ethernet. and the last thing, there is a power switch on the back in place of the dip switches. I originally bought it thinking that it had these limitations and was pleasantly surprised when it arrived with all the minor bugs worked out. Way to go Ximeta, they obviously took the feedback that was given to them and made a good product even better. Its still not perfect, nothing is, but its close.
