TV Installation Description

Matching-base installation includes assembly of the manufacturer-provided base and attaching it to the TV. It does not include concealing wires within walls or any custom in-wall wiring. After your purchase of the TV with installation, a professional installer will contact you to schedule the arrival time of the two-man installation crew. Excellent Plasma for under $3000.00.......2005-10-18

This viewsonic T.V. is great as long as you know how to hook it up. Unlike regular T.V.'s if you hook up to this T.V. using the Coax Cable the picture will be awful. Now if you hook up using the S-Video, Componet, or Composite Video the picture will be perfect. That's why Plasma's are considered monitors instead of T.V.'s What the cable and satilite companies don't tell you is that you 50% of signal strength when you use the coax cable hook-up, or what others call the RF adapter. Regular T.V.'s can make up for this signal loss plasma's can't. So for all you out there do some research before you buy a Plasma.

A terrible, terrible TV.......2004-12-03

Even at the low price, this TV managed to disappoint in all categories. The remote is a giant brick with all the important buttons hidden under a slider. The image quality was fuzzy and poor. The screen would glitch every once in a while for no apparent reason. Any white or bright area on the TV (even with the brightness turned down low) would cause a terrible BUZZING sound from inside the unit. Weighing in at 90 pounds, it was difficult to even rotate it a little by yourself.

Let me put it this way -- I had the TV for about 2 months before someone broke into my office and stole it. I was actually happy to see it go.

Im sure the other guys were impressed with this unit .Im not.If you can manage to get the picture bright enough be prepared to hear a nice loud humming sound!!Ive used it with all connections tried.Even with the 17 pin connect to my comp it was dissapointing and the sound from any white background is disgraceful!Forget about burn in as well.Its going to happen..Youd better spend the extra money and not cheap out as I did..I kept Myself to spending under 10 thousand bucks to redo my room ,this is just for electronics.I use it for my bedroom cause of lack o space.My SONY bigscreen is best pic Ive seen so far.Ill save my cash and get a sony plasma next..Oh and the heat is insane,No one mantioned this so I doubt if they truly even bought one.I wish I wasnt first to get this TV no reviews were out back then...

Pretty Darn Good For Under 3K!.......2004-02-03

O.K.----I think our man Steve from CA. might have been better served if he had read the owner's manual first, and then had professional installation. THIS IS NOT A HDTV! It will take the signal, but will have to "dumb it down" to display. But that display is absolutely gorgeous: sharp colors, wide viewing angle and NO artifacts.
As for using the display as a computer monitor, I would be hard pressed to recommend it any higher. As with all viewsonic monitors I have owned in the past, apps from word processing to the newest games are just perfect. I connected my cable to a media center computer I built, and now use a nifty program called Snapstream that puts the old TIVO to shame! Now my wife can tape her soaps, easily burn her favorites to DVD, check her E-Mail, surf the web, video chat with her mom, play Tetris (O.K.---she's a little behind the times in her gaming!), find that song she has been looking for, etc----all from the comfort of our bed. She's now happy as a clam, which any guy will tell you pays the ol' hubby dividends far greater than the sub 3K cost of the unit. And I must admit, I can't wait for Halflife II on a big monitor with the display settings jacked to the max!
Two caveats: Again, no HDTV. Perhaps more importantly, if you are going to set this unit up yourself, you ought be an enthusiast. Trying the many input choices enabled me to decide on the best option for myself, which proved to be the DVI for the computer, and the S-Video for all TV functionality except for DVD playback, which benefits with progressive scan connections (you know, that red blue yellow thingy). If you rely on the manual alone, you are apt to be left confused, as it is far too brief and poorly written.
If you feel, as I do, that the PC is the future engine to drive home entertainment, this unit is an excellent partner!

Good Quality for the price........2005-12-26

You are not going to find better quality in the low $200.00 range than you find in this Velodyne Sub. This has added some serious depth to my home theater sound. I would recomend this Sub to anyone who is looking for great quality at a reasonable price.

...Velodyne created this whole VRP line mainly to make money off of its name brand recognition, and cut a lot of corners in the process. The CHT line is far better, for both movies and especially for music.

This model was just very weak and underpowered.

In this price range you would be better off going with the one hundred twenty five dollar Dayton sub from partsexpress dot com, or save your money for a much better sub from Internet-direct specialty subwoofer manufacturers like SVS and Hsu, who start at around the four hundred dollar range.

I personally went cheap on my subwoofer, a JBL e150 for about one hundred seventy shipped new from eBay...talk about buyer's remorse! You do not want to go cheap on your subwoofer, you'll never stop kicking yourself like me.

A great two channel stereo reciever..........2007-09-02

I've had this reciever for two days now and I'm thrilled with it's performance. It took the place of a Pioneer 110watt 5 channel unit. I don't have time to listen to it during the day, so I bought a set of headphones for night listening.(didn"t want to wake the wife). The Yamaha rx-397 fits the bill with it"s two channels and headphones. I don't need more then 50watts, but it will drive speakers with aplumb!. AM and FM are very good also. And I like the knobs. Would recommend it to anyone.

If you are in the market for a classic two-channel stereo receiver (and on a budget) the Yamaha RX-397 would be the one to get. The sound from this unit is crystal-clear and distortion-free, even when played at a high volume through my cheap old speakers.

As for the service, I placed the order on a Sunday night and the item was delivered the following Tuesday.

A pleasant shopping experience in every way.

Great for old school or new school!.......2007-06-01

I have been very pleased with the overall quality and functionality of this receiver. Yes, I am old school and I still need a phono input with a preamp section in the receiver, but I also am new school with digital input from a CD player, and a Linksys wireless music bridge that allows you to stream output (mp3, wav, etc) from your computer to your receiver. The RX-397 handles both old school and new school to perfection.

Clean, cool sound.......2007-01-19

I purchased this receiver because we have two speakers (not 5, not 7), and an enclosed cabinet in which it must live (kids, you know). I wanted an efficient unit that wouldn't toast itself, but sounded great (we listen to a lot of acoustic stuff). The RX-397 fits the bill - driving my 6-ohm speakers (thank you, Yamaha, for the switch to set this), the sound is very clean and open, with plenty of power to capture the full resonance of an acoustic bass without muddying the rasp of fingers on strings. Our listening room is small (~15' square), and this unit has more than enough power to fill it. Yet, it only gets warm in its cabinet - not hot.

This is the right unit for the right price. I have a smaller room that I do not need the full surround sound effect. Classic stereo sound with a phono input which is why I bought it; no preamp needed. If this describes your situation, you would do well to consider this receiver.

This is a very handy organizer. However, an alternative should have been provided so that data can be entered directly to the REX without the need for a PC.

While small and light this organizer is Extremely useful. It has all the storage functions of a palm pilot (but a much smaller memory) and as low a price as a regular organizer. I believe that this is one of the most handy name, date, address, and phone number storage organizers around. Its only flaws are that it has very confusing directions and a small memory.

It is by far the best product I have pruchase the last two years. It works great with Outlook and I can track all my 1'000 Access-Business adresses all the time with me. For me I have purchase 2 extra sets just as reserve. For my business I need 20 - 50 more of these (I will give this to my best customers with all the product data-s in it) Does any body know where I could get more of Rex-3 with IS ? (In December I was desperately seeking the Rex-3 version in LA, nobody seems to sell this exellent tool any more.)

All my 3 needs in one device!.......2000-01-19

I was recently robbed. Lost my Organizer (180U$S), all data (7 years of information), and the criminals got all my info. So, I needed a cheap device, that force me to have a backup, and with some kind of password to access data. Then I found the 29.99U$S Rex 3, and my life changed. It comes with a usefull leather envelope that lets you store some cards where to write the information you get on the go. Write it down later on your PC and REX and forget about losing information. ADVICE: If you work with Outlook you must purchase also TrueSync Plus for Outlook. A must have 1 step synchronization application. The original soft you get with the Rex needs to be loaded with the Outlook information first, and then to the Rex. (two steps)

A must have!.......2000-01-04

I recently purchased a Sharp Y-180 organizer for 39.99 to replace my old Sharp 32K thinking it would be great to have the ability to back-up my data to my PC. Only to find the software not only cumbersome to use, but unable to import information from any other program. I could upgrade the software and get a version that is able to import from Outlook, but at an additional cost of 69.99 plus shipping. Back to the store it went.

Then I discovered the REX! Easy to install, import, synchronize and use. I had mine set-up and running in less an hour. For those of us that want our information readily available and don't want to spend a small fortune (Palm) to have it REX is the answer. If you are looking for a Palm type item, this is not the PDA for you. The only downside is not being able to add new info directly into it. But until I'm willing to spend 169+ for the next version, I'll just use my old Sharp as an electronic memo pad for my updates and as a calculator.
