Smart Media cards as fragile as they say? Truth or Fiction?.......2007-07-14

Short of saying that Smart Media Cards are indestructible, they are pretty hardy and can take quite a bit of abuse. I don't know where all this talk about how fragile they are, they are not fragile. They can take just about all the abuse you can throw at it. How do I know? I use to work at a Computer store (nope not tellin) and to keep the cards from being stolen kept them in my pocket. My pocket was full of change and with keys, and these Smartmedia cards full of my fingerprints. When we needed to demo them, we'd yank them out of our pockets and stick them in a camera or photo printer to demo these products for sale. I don't know who started this rumor that the cards are fragile but I've dropped them on the floor and tossed them around without a second thought as to proper care. They definitely are not flimsy although those skinny things would have you believe that and this is just the bottom line truth. And I believe they are the same with SD cards, compactflash cards and the whole lot of them which is to give all the credit to the engineering and quality of these memory card products. I've owned my 8mb, 32mb and 64mb since 2001 and still treat them without any due respect. They are an outdated media now and are getting to be very expensive because of their scarceness. Damn, there had to be a drawback!

Get Them While They Last.......2007-03-09

This is the largest size of SmartMedia card that I've been able to find and they don't seem to make them anymore. If you have a digital camera that only uses SmartMedia, this is a good buy. Works great, no problems after 2 years of use.

I bought this for an HP 735 digital camera. I popped it in, and turned the camera on. DONE!!! No muss, no fuss, no formatting or anything. I've been using it a lot for several weeks. There have not been any glitches of any sort. Write speed seems "about right" compared to other SD cards I've used. Don't know what more to say. It works fine.

Great Expecations, Sad Reality.......2006-01-26

I ordered these in hopes of saving space on my desk, which they accomplished. I was replacing some really old computer speakers from the late 90s that we probably got for less than $5. To my dismay, these ViewSonics couldn't even compete with the sound quality --what I thought was horrible quality-- of my old speakers. The sound was absolute garabage, from games to iTunes to Comcast's Internet TV, it was horrible sound quality so I temporarily reverted back to my old $5 speakers. I get better sound quality from my iPod's iTalk mono speaker attachment. ViewSonic should keep to what they do best, nice overpriced monitors. People, don't waste your money, there are better options here on Amazon (in the 50-70 range unfortunately) from other brands.

Pretty Good Value-Great Space Saver........2006-01-05

I purchased these speakers for my home PC because I have a small desk and not a lot of room to work with. I don't use speakers often with my home PC, just for basic listening.

These speakers are WONDERFULLY compact. Tall but with a very tiny surface area requirement on your desk. They sound fine for speech or small sounds. But they are not symphony quality by any means-they do not cut it for listening-intensive requirements like music or video games where sound quality will make or break your experience.

For the overall design and price, I am satisfied.

They sent me the wrong speakers 2 times without the subwoofers and I ask for money back the last time. Amazon did a horrible job putting the wrong title and picture on this. Don't buy this product from amazon because you are porbably going to get the wrong item like me and other customers.

Keeps Breaking.......2007-06-06

First the light got stuck on than the FM radio stopped working. Fortunately Zadro has been great about sending new units but we are on our third and have had to pay $14 to send the two defective units back. We are hopeful that the third unit will work properly but aren't holding out any hope.

The unit itself looks nice, and sounds pretty good, but, last week for some reason the little LED lights turned on and wouldn't turn off. I took the battaries out and let it sit overnight and it's now fine, but, not sure how reliable it will be in the future.

Poor Radio Reception...Poor Value.......2005-07-31

This exact radio sells for $19.99 at Bed Bath and Beyond. I've had two, and neither had decent reception, and both broke in about a year. It never got a direct stream of water on it.

The "fogless" mirror never remained fogless for very long. About a month, then it fogged up!

After being an Onkyo fan for many years, I had a failure with my unit which caused me to need a new receiver. Yamaha really has a great lineup of receivers, and this one fits my needs admirably. It isn't the most user friendly, but it sounds wonderful. The auto-calibration feature is quite nice and gets you up and running quickly. The video up-convert makes my setup that much easier with my DVD player, DVR, & Game console.
The price is very reasonable for what you get from this unit.

Amazing performance and capability for the money. From smooth jazz to the classics this thing really does a great job. Just ran Sunday night football thru it for the first time and I thought I was in three rivers stadium - everything but the brats! Perfect companion for my Benq DLP projector! The HD jumps off the wall with the seven channel decoder and the optional "Presence" speakers up top! Service thru amazon was outstanding - instant shipping and good communications - great pricing!

I was looking for a A/V reciever to replace a Dennon that I had for years.My son bought a yamaha a few years ago and I was really impressed with the sound quality. I started looking at the yamaha line of recievers and decided to go with the rx-v series. at $300 the rx-v659 has got to be one of the best bargains on the market. the sound quality and power of this reciever is pretty suprising for this price. The automatic speaker setup is slick.(it detected crossed wires on center channel after I set it up) It may not be perfect but it will get you close enough until you can tweak it manually once your comfortable doing this. The remote control really got a bad rap in some of the reviews I read but I don't think it's that bad. Once I took the time to program it and learn its functions,I can operate all of my equip. with just this remote.(finally)I'm no technical geek but I've had some A/V equip. over the years and for this price this unit is pretty amazing.
