I bought this for a Dimage 7Hi camera. It worked good for a year, now the camera can't write to it anymore. I tried formating it with the computer and the camera still don't work

I have been using this for several months on a Cannon A80, with no problems. As some users have also pointed out, it is slow loading the pictures to your camera. I suppose thats a tradeoff for the low price.

Poor Quality.......2006-01-11

I purchased the Viking 1GB CompactFlash card when I purchased the Canon 20D. I had only taken around 100 pictures when I began to get the "Data corrupt" error. My mistake was that I gave it several more chances. I formatted it several times and I continue to get the same error, not to mention I lost some pictures I had taken earlier which cannot be replicated. It's not worth the money nor the headache. It's better to spend an extra $30 on a better quality CompactFlash card than to have wonder whether you'll lose the pictures you just took.

low cost compact flash.......2005-12-25

I bought this card with Minolta 7D SLR digital camera so I qualified for $23.99 mailing rebate. The card itself also comes with another mailing rebate. The all-in cost for this compact flash card cannot be beat. I have only played with this card a few days and so far there's no problem. The card is probably made by Toshiba because when I put it into my computer's card reader, it's being registered as a Toshiba disk. I don't frequently take continuous-advance shots so the write speed doesn't affect me much. This is a great low cost compact flash card for those who do not demand fast-write speed.

It worked fine initially but giving lots of problem now.......2005-11-01

I bought this card to go with my S500 camera, for first 2 trips it worked well. On our third trip suddenly it started giving "Data Corrupt" error which I could solve by deleting that particular photograph. After that my husband carried the camera and this card to Europe for business meeting and it started giving same error there. Since then everytime we put card in the camera, the camera hangs. Even Ritz camera people couldn't recover photographs.

The viking customer service was helpful enought to recommend the photo rescue software which costs $29.99 to recover the photographs. I could see the photographs but my purpose of saving money with this card is lost as I will have to spend extra money for the photo rescue software.

Honestly a great player.......2005-02-10

I have to address several issues raised by other reviews of this device:
the problem with the format of songs is addressed in the manual, it only plays, WMA, MP3 and only one other format.
The radio is useful if it is set correctly and it doesnt take a genious to figure that out
and the recorder is useful for students to record lessons

In conclusion Very useful and a worthwhile buy

Solid Mp3 Player.......2005-01-11

(...) The memory space is great and very handy. The radio sounds like garbage and switches stations very slowly. I would highly reccommend this player to anyone who wants a good not great sounding player in a low price range. The thing eats batteries for breakfast lunch and dinner though. kind of a pain!.......2004-11-25

This device is just OK...like others who have it, it does prove to be easy to use when working out/running. Unfortunately, it will download songs onto the device that then do not play...you never know what format/song it will decide to play until you finish with all your downloading and turn it on...only to find that alas, half of the songs are listed but will not play. GRRR! Also, the FM radio is useless...sounds like crap and difficult to navigate (slow). I already bought another MP3 player to replace this although, the sound quality IS good on the Verge...what to do!

I can't say this player has been ALL bad, so I will list the pro's and con's for you to let you make your own decision:
GOOD
1) Memory -- If you're using this to exercize or take a few songs on the road, this tiny device is very handy. The 256MB memory holds about 8 hours of music, which I found was more than enough for my uses.
2) Shape -- compared to the RCA Lyra I first bought, this player proved to be more innovative in its shape. I found it easy to carry on runs, and the joystick made it easy to switch songs and volume without interrupting my workouts to figure out what button did what. The unit comes with an arm-strap, but I found it harder to change songs on my arm than with the unit in my hand. It's light and small -- didn't bother me to carry it.

BAD
1) Battery life -- I found I didn't get more than 8-10 hours battery life on this player. This was especially annoying when the battery died on a long run and I had to carry the thing dead all the way back (it gets a lot heavier when you're not getting anything out of it).
2) Compatability -- If you have a Macintosh, BEWARE! Since buying this unit I have gotten a new computer and switched from PC to MAC; I have to use a friend's computer to do anything to it now.
3) Radio Recording -- This feature is USELESS. Even on the highest level , the sound quality is so terrible I can't imagine how anyone would get anything useful out of it. My player has also been unable to DELETE these bad sound files, so I have to run through them every time I go through my playlist.
4) Changing Music -- Recently (I have had this player for about 7 months now) there has been a "LOCK" on certain songs on my player, and I am unable to delete the music on there. Thankfully this only includes about half of the memory, but I'm sure Black Eyed Peas "Hey Mama" is going to get old pretty soon.

If you're going to buy this player I HIGHLY recommend getting an extended warrenty from Best Buy or Circuit City. As for myself, I've heard better things from iRiver and am switching brands ASAP!

Solid MP3 Player.......2004-06-30

I take this MP3 player to the gym each day and I've been very happy with it. It's got great sound (with different sound settings to choose from), as well as quality earphones. It's also easy to change songs and volume level while running. I don't like how the artists and song titles don't fit onto the display, which makes it hard to distinguish between different songs. But overall, it's a great MP3 player that I would recommend.
